So here comes attached the Thayer's Quest control floppy disc (for Atari ST). Thanks for your patience, mate. :)

Thayer's Quest? I already uploaded the control disk to the net in 2014 ("Thayer's Quest" laserdisc control disk). What happened to the DL control disk?

the guy to the left is somebody some of you might know. It is Jochen Hippel, the former Atari-musician who worked for Thalion on ST and Amiga.

It's nice to see some recent photos of Jochen. :) I hope he's fine.

i bet you could buy that for like 50k...

It's a little bit less expensive: 35k (I forgot if the price I found online was in € or $).

realistic 3D?

I really enjoyed the graphics and the 3D effect and didn't notice any ghost images (you can alternate between 2D and 3D at any time during the game). The zombies and other monsters really seem to jump at you, the game is played from a first person perspective with a shaky camera and it's a frightening surprise when you crawl through an opening in the wall on your back and are viewing upwards when an operating saw is falling down on you with it's rotating saw blade.  :o

Spoiler:
There is a playthrough available in five parts on Youtube.

If you like "House of the Dead" and are looking for something creepier, than I can recommend "Dark Escape 4D".

how much money is necessary for one game...2€?

Yes, it's 2 € per person to start the game and 1 € per person to continue after "Game over".

Visited an amusement centre in cologne at the last weekend and got hooked by Namco's Dark Escape 4D arcade machine. Did anyone of you played this machine, too? What's your impression?

It's a pity my girlfriend isn't into scary movies/ games, so I couldn't motivate her to join me in the game  :-*.

....only problem is to get the images from the ST to a current system :)

Besides my PC (with floppy drive) I still use my Atari ST & Falcon030 and an Amiga. If you need help getting the disks imaged and burned on CDR, just drop me a line.

I admire your craftsmanship. In regard of the photos and the time you needed to build the cab, it all looks so easy (but I'm sure it wasn't).

One (perhaps silly) question: How do you play the game with multiple players when the screen and the picture is orientated towards on side of the cab (and the people sitting on the other side see the picture upside down)? Will the game use a mirrored splitscreen? When I first saw the photos I thought the CRT needed a 90° rotation.

...or visit "For Amusement Only e.V." in Rodenbach. Here's a nice overview of the place. The arcade machines shown on video are mentioned in the video description (with time codes). Pay an entrance fee of 8 Euro and play as long as you want (on real arcade machines) - that's much better than the Computerspiele Museum.

Hey Tyrem,

nice to see another Atari guy around here. Die Welt, oder besser das Internet, ist wirklich ein Dorf  :).

fabulous story - and very rewarding that you pulled this off. nicely done, looking forward to the built

I second that! I've never imagined that a company like Disney would get involved in a deal with an individual. I wish you all the best and sucess with the tasks ahead.
