I respected (almost  :P) the original neon measures .... take a look:

i understand your desire to stick to the original, but this is the part where i would have departed from that route to make it look even better. after all, the original doesn't have a computer running mame in it either, does it?  ;)

nevertheless: your job / work is OUTSTANDING!!! never seen such a perfect recreation. what's next???  :) how about TEMPEST  :-*
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

The Neon police has to report several violations on this thread.

For once and for always:

Neon:

Fluorescent:  (TL as we call it):

The essential difference: Neon light is where the gas itself lights. F.i. that red neon in my picture is a completely clear tube when turned off. Fluorescent light uses gas that does not light up itself, but it causes the coating on the inside of the tube to light up.
Yes, some neon's (actually most neons) use a coating too, but this is only to enhance the color, it's still the gas itself that lights up.

Not that any of this matters at all, just the neon-police trying to prevent any misunderstandings Woohahahahahahahaah !

(Insane mode off)

Back on topic !!!! Going strong, looking good !!! This will turn out to one sweet cab ! Can't wait to see the end result.

About rotating, check this out:
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Garage/9000/arcade/index.htm

This cab is 24 Inches on the inside, which is about 61 cm. From the specs the Nintendo cab is 60cm. on the outside. It looks like the rotating disc on that cab could be made a tiny bit smaller. It will be extremely tight probably, or maybe impossible....I will investigate it as soon as my SW cockpit is done....

Oh, and if you want I've got an original Nintendo fluorescent holder for you. Problem is.....it wants 100 VAC !!!  (I replaced mine with a similar set-up like you did):

About rotating like Level42 mentions,
that probably doesn't fit. I tried it in my DK cab with a round wooden board just like that website shows.
Maybe if your monitor is smaller than 21" it will fit. My screen is 21" (55cm) and that doesn't fit.

But rotating in you cab can be done very easy! (manual).
If you make the wooden board which supports the monitor SQUARE, you can just rotate it 90 degrees and you have a horizontal display!
That's how I have done it.

I see you used L-brackets for mounting the wooden support panel, that would take a long time refitting after rotating.
I used two wooden beams attached to the sidepanels of the cab, and the wooden monitor support panel slides and rest OVER that.
Drilled 4 holes for fastening the monitorpanel to the beams with bolts. They don't need to be tightend very good,
it must just hold the monitorpanel in place.

Look at my pic:

Yes in case anyone misunderstood, it was just meant for a good laugh.

@Joeks: The original cab has a 19" monitor. OK 2" might not sound like much, but it could be just those extra 5 cm. we need......

I can already rotate my monitor manually because my cab is a Radar Scope cab and that came with the "monitor in wooden box" in vertical position. I already turned it to be able to play MB (and "modified (= cut off part off) the wooden box) to make it fit inside the cab.....  However, I have to rotate it from the back so that's not very handy....

And today I bought the red paint for the cab, color scanned from original control panel (the color of the repro, Mikesarcade and Arcadeshop is quite different  :-\)

looking great screen, you must have the most pristine arcade of all with all the brand new replicas :)

Andre, this rotating cab idea, are these widebody nintendo cabs, would that make the difference?
Anyway , being as nintendo cabs are so rare for you , would it not be worth building one to the width you need?
just keeping an eye on things
