The BL on the tube stands for black light.
It's a pic of my original 15 watt black light fluorescent tube with white glass (don't use the blue glass ones).
Even if I can always replace it with a modern one, I'll be sad when it will die

To Lazslo: it's apparently also sometimes used in devices that kill mosquitoes and other flying bugs.

I guess these are the "modern" equivalents, but double check with yours:

I did some research on the subject and found this url

It explains what is what in BL and BLB country. So the one we should use are insect zapper solarium type.
