Yes yes, it's getting there.

You have two working projectors. The ones that aren't working, you can use their tubes as spare, when the time comes. Ofcourse the blue tube is usually the one that goes dark first so you could try sending these in for restoring. I think they do it in USA only today. Have a look here http://www.curtpalme.com/Advanced_Procedures.shtm I 'm sure you will get good advice.

I see that both projectors now need serious convergence adjustments. I'd like to look inside any handbook on how to do this. I've only been working on CRTs for monitors so far. What model are yor SONY's there please?

Curt has some good info/manuals on SONY here
http://www.curtpalme.com/Sony10xx_Downloads.shtm
But I need to check exactly what model yours is.

Wow.....this is pretty hardcore....

Again, if that blue tube is weak I could test it (and rejuvenate if necessary) with my Müter BMR2005 if you want Bruno. Just need to know the CRT pin out.

You need the re-phosporize the inner surface and add a new gun to restore the CRT. When the phosphor is used, it's used. You can't 'clean' it.

The projector CRTs burn more intensly than regular RGB-CRTs, which means that both the gun material and phosphor ends much earlier.

You need to cut the glass open, and then weld it back together again.

The original projector model coming 'from factory' with the Galaxian3 Theater6 Japanese model (like me) is the SONY VPH 1043QJ, fortunately similar with other references, like these ones : click me.
Regarding the 'missing blue problem' on one of my three VPH 1043QJ, it would just be a matter of 'glycol' to change?

Sadly I don't think so, because the blue *always* ends before the red and green. It is because the blue phosphor is the least durable of the three.

You clould check with that guy, Curt in the US. Either you would be buying  a new 'blue tube', or sending your old one in for restoring. Either way it is a couple of $$$.

Personally, if I would have a CRT projector, I would buy three completely new tubes. Red, green and blue. Because the use of the projector / games in private will never ever become as intensive as in public environment. They'd last me my life time after the change.

And, you would set the contrast/brightness level to optimal, instead of as in the arcades on maximal.

To really maintain, or at least be confidant that your projectors get a good care from you, check with http://www.curtpalme.com/CRTforSale_Misc.shtm

This is how a CRT for your projector usually wears out. http://www.curtpalme.com/TubeCondition.shtm

.. also, I'm trying to find out if there's a 'sweet spot' where to keep the intensity output, to maintain the CRTs health as long as possible with a minimal compromise in the picture brightness.

This type sony tubes can`t be bought new are rebuilt (new phosphore and new gun )
But they stil can be found second hand with no visible wear on the phosphore.
For a maximum light output the glycol should be checkt and replaced if needed afther this meany years of use and the surface of the tube and back of the lenses should be cleaned as well.
The electrical focus and g2 of the tubes chould also be readjust.
There are two types of tubes that are interchangeable for this type of projector the sd130 & sd187 ( 07ms probably also but not 100% sure)
I have heard that rejuvenating of projector tubes doesn`t work they are not in the same class as monitor tubes ,the phosphor will normaly be toast before a gun runs out of life.Personaly never had a projector tube with a weak gun but plenty with burn in and wear.
Bruno if you ever need tubes are help for the projectors send me a pm.

Watching the film, I think the projectors are sufficient for now at least. There is certain screen burn but nothing that seems to interfer too much in the game.

Great clip there, Bruno. I really appreciate it. Just what I was longing to finally see. I trust you are feeling very very pleased with your work about this.

If I ever take a trip overseas, I definitely need to request an invite to the Lair and to play the awesome Galaxian Theater. That is some dedication, congratulations!
