Title: Alu sticker repro run
Post by: Etienne MacGyver on March 06, 2011, 07:59:50 PM
Hi guys

As you all know by now, i am reproducing the Aluminium Serial stickers for various cabs.
Check this topic if you don't know what i am talking about:
https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=2351.0 (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=2351.0)

I have done some investigation and i have a source for this kind of sticker and a estimated price from my printer to print this.
The size of the sheet is 100 x 70 cm. and i can squeeze in alot of alu stickers.

If you are in need of a reproduction serial sticker, this is the time to sign up.

I have no intention of making profit from this, im just reproducing my 2 zacc stickers, and some Atari's

The more people that join , the cheaper the price per sticker will be.
For now it looks like the stickers will be between € 5,- and € 7,50 per piece, depending of the size of the sticker.

In principal, that price does not include shipping outside Holland, but that should not be high as they fit easy in a standard envelope.
I say in principal, because if there are enough people, the price per piece will be lower, and the shipping wil justify it again then.

You will receive your sticker(s) cut out with a computerguided slith (see the magenta line on the pics below)
thats the line the computerguided knive will folow.

If there is a sticker that you will like to have, and i have not reproduced it yet, then i can still do that.
Just send me a straight shot of the sticker or scan and the dimentions, and i will vector it and take it in the run for you.
Also let me know if you want the serialnumbers printed or not (see the atari sticker for example, that is punched, not printed)
and ofcourse if you want it printed, provide me the correct serialnumbers that you want in your sticker   ;)

The stickers that currently are beeing reproduced are these:

1: Zaccaria - Ready for Printing.

Sounds great, I would like 6 pieces, just please add 1 or 2 to each serial numbers I sent you, I decided to keep the original ones and use the repros on the cabs with missing decals. ;)
I will also ask the pinball guy here asap. ;)

Etienne, about the thick (bold) font/ normal font difference: Are you sure the Irish are bold ? I'm not too sure actually. Could you print one on plain paper so we can compare before we waste precious material ?

Or maybe I can print the file here and check with my Centi sticker ?

Anyway, I want 2 of the Irish one's please. I still have to take a look at the VP...

let me understand you correctly, i have put the 4 serial numbers that you send to me on the sheet.
now you want to add 2, thats great ofcourse, but i don't understand the "add 1 or 2 to each serial numbers" part
do i just copy 2 of the stickers so you will have 2 stickers with the same serial, and if thats the case which one you want "double" ?

@ Andre, updated the "order status"
and i have printed it on paper which i will drop by after work someday together with the sample of alu ok ?

Sorry for the poor explanation, I mean I wouldn't like to have the same numbers on the repro stickers that I already have and I guess the next serial number is also belongs to the same type of cabinet, so please add 1 or 2 to the last number in the row.
Phoenix (flying saucer artwork):V/116.789  V/116.790
Phoenix(spacestation artwork):V/125.844   V6125.845
Vanguard:V/127.633  V/127.634
Starsplash:V/142.005  V/142.006

And the additional 2 could be one more Phoenix and Vanguard with 791 and 635 in the end.
I know I'm a bit complicated. ;D
Thanks in advance. ;)
Title: Re: Alu sticker repro run
Post by: Etienne MacGyver on March 07, 2011, 10:13:14 AM
Okay, let me get you clear, i have already 4 for you :

Phoenix (flying saucer artwork):V/116.789
Phoenix(spacestation artwork):V/125.844
Vanguard:V/127.633
Starsplash:V/142.005

You want extra stickers with a higher number

Phoenix (flying saucer artwork):V/116.790
Phoenix(spacestation artwork):V6125.845
Vanguard:V/127.634
Starsplash:V/142.006

and 2 more with again a higher number:
Phoenix (flying saucer artwork):V/116.791
Vanguard:V/127.635

so that totals 10 stickers ?

sorry for not understanding your meaning in one time, but i dont want to make any mistakes ;)
Title: Re: Alu sticker repro run
Post by: Belike on March 07, 2011, 10:28:03 AM
Lol, to make it 100% clear I would like these:

Phoenix (flying saucer artwork):V/116.790
Phoenix(spacestation artwork):V6125.845
Vanguard:V/127.634
Starsplash:V/142.006

and 2 more with again a higher number:
Phoenix (flying saucer artwork):V/116.791
Vanguard:V/127.635

I don't want to replace the existing ones, so I won't need the 4 pieces with the original numbers I sent you. :D

I just wanted to report that there is some interest flooding in from the various forums. Still need to receive scans/pics though for some special stuff.

Others want the "regular" stickers as listed by Etienne.....this will be a nice project indeed !

If things go well I will get this one scanned soon:

And I see a problem there: the serial numbers seem to be printed with something like a dot-matrix printer (probably an industrial one).
Maybe there is a font that is like that ?

I need to consult my font expert ChrisChris for that  :D ;)

the pic looks good enough already to repro, just need sizes...

EDIT:

Sizes are 84 x 84 mm.

Etienne dropped off some sample materials and some test prints here today (thanks !!)

The two "vinyl" like samlpes are not what we are looking for (as Etienne already concluded, but the Alu-looking samples are EXACTLY what we need :)

We also discussed the font of the Irish serial sticker and both now think the font on that one is not bold...so some more work for Etienne, but I guess that's almost just one button press ;)

2 Irish Atari and 1 USA Atari (thick front) for me please.  :spaceace:

After comparing alot together with Andre, we came to the conclusion that the font i used was too thick
so i adjusted the font and rebuilded the USA variant.

Repro as good as done, just need the "serial ABC" and then i can add the requested serial numbers..

Another Special request was the SEGA Hangon Silver Instruction sticker.
Also added to the first post under "No. 6 Sega Hangon"

Yes , it is , will correct that.

the source used is a picture, and has a little skewing, so i placed the text straight on top of it, without noticing that the original is a bit tilted because of the picture..
anyway, do you have any other adjustments / suggestions of this , of maybe a straight shot , then i can adjust the nessesary things, and we will have a better result

O wait.... something went wrong here....:

Looks like the Irish gravitar  (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=2351.msg28789#msg28789)that you posted earlier, need measurements and straight shots of that..

AFAIK CKONG's Gravitar is NOT an Irish built cab (Alpha1, can you confirm ??) but a US cab !!

In that case.....I think that sticker combo is actually from my Video Pinball !!! I have to leave for drumband exercise now, will have a look into it tomorrow.... (need to drag away lots of stuff to reach it....)

However Etienne, as you can see, they are not the same. The picture of the Asteroids serial shows an actual (spot for a) serial number. The one in my VP is actually not a real serial number sticker but more a "rating" sticker (Amps, Watt).....geez.....

HOWEVER it could of course be that a serial sticker just like that Asteroids one is also on the back of my VP. As you can see those other stickers are inside the cab.....

well, i said it looks like, i did not say that it was it so i am still on the safe side  ;)

anyway, if there are some sort of "sources" i am able to recreate it ofcourse..

so ring all the bells everywhere and get me those scans / straight shots with measurements  8)

I think someone took my JPG files from the site and tries to snatch the US "customers" with them.

I dont have proof that that is the case, but if thats the case, its pretty lame..

It must be one of the three answers that andre stated in his "little popquiz" over there  ;D
Title: Re: Alu sticker repro run
Post by: level42 on March 16, 2011, 08:26:29 AM
I can hardly believe that assholes like this actually try to take away our US "Customers". Remember that we are doing this on a non-profit basis. The only reason to search for more "customers" is that we can lower the prices for everyone this way...

Most annoying is that no-one ever cared about these. There have been some available in the past from one guy (who has now left the hobby), but only US versions and I saw pics of them and to put it mildly they were only "look alikes".

Anyway, I think we still have everyone "on board" so far and the project will be done anyway.

Title: Re: Alu sticker repro run
Post by: Etienne MacGyver on March 16, 2011, 09:57:02 AM
True, we don't have any attention of making profit, thats why i "quoted" the word customers.

Its just the more people join, the more persons i can divide the total amout through, so the more the better.
there are some standard fees involved (starting costs and cutting start costs)  that will be the same if i take 10 stickers of 100.
Also the material comes in a specific size which has a fixed price per sheet.

for example, if the fixed fees are 50€ , then its 5 euro per etiket, if i have the possibillity to devide 50 / 100, the fixed fees are only 50 eurocents per etiket. so imagine at 200 etikets

the thing that bothers me is like andre describes, for the rest i dont care it, because i know that the JPG's that i posted are not as good as the vectors that i have here.

Its not that i dont want to share the vectors, because after the run they will be available through Zorgs vectorlib, as ar my other vector files.

Also i will not publish the vectors that are not "done" because i don't want to have crappy vectors made by me to be floating around.
If there are vectors out there that i made which are not "done" i will always notice that and state that they need "cleanup".

Anyway, Back to business  8)

do you have more scans / orders in the que for me andre ?
if yes, PM please, and i will update the second "status post" of this threat :)

Just a note that it is black on silver, the scan makes it not too too black.  :P

Thank you for doing this.

These machines are actually pretty neatly designed and technologically quite interesting..... ;D

Funny to actually have some "sympathy" for a grey IBM machine.....but hey, there were no PC's then yet....

how do you know it's the bookface ball we're looking for? are you 100% sure that it is a match?

Got a number of balls with them but not the Bookface :(

how do you know it's the bookface ball we're looking for? are you 100% sure that it is a match?

By comparing this:

with this:

That last image I found on the website of a "Museum" right here: http://selectric.org/selectric/index.html

Done some experimenting and there is some bad and some good news.

The bad:
- the extra balls didn't fit, and I remembered reading that there were more modern balls (for the Selectric III series) which contain more letters. They have their names printed in yellow on top of the ball and indeed all the 4 extra balls have this.
- only one of the machines actually works. It made more noise than I had expected but it silenced a bit after a while. I thought there would only be a fan in there, but as I read there is actually a motor and some pretty complex (binary !) mechanics in there.....a miracle that it still works ( or not, judging on the build quality).
The other one is as dead as there is no power applied....at least there is still the ball from that one ;)
- they smell like you'd expect them to smell, like smokey 70's offices ! :)

The good:
- one works ! ;)
- it is possible to adjust the force of the strike which is EXCELLENT for our goal :)
- the machine has a mechanism meant for stencils, which simply means it lifts the ribbon out of the way so that the bare ball (heheh) strikes the paper/label, which is ALSO excellent for us (no need to remove the ribbon. Amazingly the ribbon works still !!!
- first testing show very very promissing ( I will make a scan)
- the mechanism has no problems at all with the labels. The only "drawback" is that it's impossible to "print" on the lower part of a label, but on the Atari's it's not needed.
_________________________

It will be pretty hard to do the exact positioning of the letters on the labels, but not impossible, will require some testing with paper print-outs first.
The way of using the ball only that I had first thought about can be ruled out right away: Impossible to do with some decent lining out AND it's already to hit at the right letter.....

Will scan some examples and post a bit later.

Now, we need a Bookface ball !

Scans, pretty damn convincing IMHO ! I'm glad my idea actually worked as I thought it would :)

This is typed WITH the ribbon to see how to position...not too good on this first try...

Fantastic Andre !

i was thinking, what we also can do if we dont find the correct ball, is give the people a choice.
or the closest match we can do with the balls available, or i can insert the letters with the font you got and print them.

ps. i added a few new stickers to the first post.

Post by: level42 on March 24, 2011, 01:55:14 PM
About the embossed characters: I "printed" those with the ribbon still in place. For some reason the metal doesn't like the ink, so it doesn't show, but I'm sure we will have an even better result when I use the "ribbon lift" feature of the machine (I hadn't read about it when I printed those.....)

Also will have to experiment a bit with the strike force setting....

I have searched for the font bookface, but i dont find it..  :'(

I have searched, and found this font instead:

Anyway, this comes very close don't you think ?

but i need to say that i like the real embedding more, even if its not the correct font..  ::)

by the way, the font that you use now, is also very very close i think
Which font are you using now in the typewriter ?

What's the name of that font you found Etienne ?

maybe the guys at the selectric museum made a small mistake.... ?

The one I printed with:
The letters are close, but the numbers are really off. They also have this goofy spacing (weird !), The ball's name is Delegate by the way.

I found another source that confirms Bookface Academic is the one we need.

http://selectric.org/selectric/GPfonts/index.html

This is a list from a third party manufacturer of letter balls for the Selectric.

The Bookface numbers are what confirms to me that it IS that font. Please stop making it even more confusing now, thank you very much....

I found a source for a Bookface ball in the US. Would prefer local/Europe for shipping costs though, any suggestions where to find these are welcome.

I was reading the Galaxian restauration (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=62784.msg624359#msg624359) of Level42 on KLOV, and there he mentions that his cab does not have the serial plate.

That is ofcourse a reason to create it  ::)

I have updated the first post with a No.10 "namco-bally" serial plate  ;)

That could be easily stick to a cab as it is, or on a piece of aluminium..

Is there anybody here who has this that can provide measurements ?
Thanks in advance

here the example:

Nope.

The Galaxians had a REAL metal serial plate.

Rich from ThisOldGame.com already produces them. They are also not a serial plate but a manufacturers plate, there is no serial nr. in there.

Did some testing. As expected, the font is 100% correct !

However, I have some weird spacing issue.

For instance when I type: EDST, the E and the D almost touch each other (sometimes they actually do) but the space between the D and the S is too wide.....

Guess I have to "oil" some parts.....now....let's find out how to open the beast.....

@ ChrisChris:
I hope you have not started with a custom ABC..
I found a Font which is pretty convincing if you ask me..

Note the "0" in the bottom where i removed the slash through the zero.
ofcourse the person who needs this can decide if they want zero's with or without slash  8)

Tomorow i will make the adjustments and it will be ready for printing  ;)

I have done the adjustments to the Irish Atari, its ready for printing, so i updated the first status post.

Also there was a request from the same person who asked the Sega Hangon Instruction sticker, to reproduce his badly damaged FCC ID sticker.
That is also created, and is waiting approval:

Now let's (s)pray :D

Etienne, is the Irish done and OK ?

Also: Since there are a number of "white" stickers being repro-ed as well, will these be included in the "job" ?
I really want that VAN sticker :D

i think yes, i just send you the PDF, so you can play with the IBM..

did you lube it up good ?  ;D

about the white, i have made this "fcc" sticker to take in a "possible future whitematerial printing job"
so if i have some white printing work to be done (sideart for example) i can squeez that into the file which will save startupcosts

or the guy i have made it for, decides to print it in aluminium like the rest, i dont know that yet, i am waiting for confirmation on that.

But IF i have a "white" printing job to do i will think of you  ;)
how many van stickers are we talking about ?, for all your cabs ?

still waiting some details for 2 stickers, and then i think we need to make the balance and see.
There where some question marks in the list that you have send me , so i could not add them because of that
compare the xls file with the second (orderstatus) post of this threat if you like and contact those people please

Also i have not received any numbers from Ully, but i am sure he wants some, so i wait for that ofcourse

but maybe after all this time we should make a deadline / closing date and just take wat we got into production.

remember guys , the more stickers we got to do the cheaper they will be in the end !

so if you want some, just let me know, even custom ones, just send the details and i'll vector it.

Wanted to let you guys know that the IBM Selectrics have gone to a better place...

I'd paid €20 for them, and I paid some more for the correct ball from the US.

Since I bought a much lighter and compact and reliable typewriter for €1 from our own flea-market I had no use for the IBM's anymore. They were GULPING up space and so I wanted to get rid of them ASAP.

So I figured what the heck, I'll put 'm on Marktplaats and let's see if anyone even wants them. I expected no replies and I would even be glad if someone would have picked them up for free.
However, after some time I got a reply. A nice lady asked if €50 would be OK.
So I replied...yeah, I can live with it !!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'd honestly mentioned the condition of both machines (as always). She picked them up today. Gave her the two machines and the balls and the extra ribbons. She knew someone who repaired them...and she used to work with them back in the day.

So...this was actually a pretty profitable transaction :)

Now...the font of the "new" typewriter is almost correct. The letters are exactly right only the numbers are a bit different. I will use this one for the serial nrs. if you want them.
If you want 100% correct font, you'll have to find your own solution, sorry.
The machine also allows more reliable positioning than the IBM's which is very important for not spoiling any valuable stickers.

My project is somewhat unique in that it is a scratch built cockpit cabinet (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=1814.0)..   I know there was just under 2500 built, but not sure of the exact number - if I could find that number out, I'd probably go that +1 :)

Worse case, serial 2499 would do.

Okay, i understand,
I see its a Starwars cockpit.

This label is comming from Level42's cockpit, so i guess that the model indication can be like this ? (EDST)

i will leave the serial blank for now, and you can provide it later.

I am planning to finish this up this moth though and take it somewhere in July to the printer, so by then i need to know what you want.

by the way , what about the Volts and the Amps ?

Preview Sticker #5 with your data:

Atari's serial nrs. were never simply the real production nr. There was a system behind it, but I don't know how/what.

EDST should be OK though for the model. Not sure if he wants the US or the Irish version (because it's a repro)...?

Post by: hoopstar on June 02, 2011, 05:01:07 AM
What does the EDST stand for??

Volts = 240 and Amps = 2.5A - I am in Australia :)

I'd definitely want the US version since all the parts for this build were source from there..

I will adjust the data, and youre good to go.

Etienne, I was thinking, maybe it's better that you will have the typewriter at your place (for the project) ?
I mean you'll have all the data for the several orders and will save time/travel/hassle.
Let me know.

I'll type some stuff and scan today.

I've wondered about the EDST too.
E may stand for Eire (Ireland) ? ST for STar Wars ?

that is a possibility ofcourse,

Or, i finish it up first, then print it, and you come over for a cup of coffee and bring the machine
we can type the data in there and i can start shipping

after all you are the person with the experience in the spacing and placement  ;D

Am I ? No problem would be nice to come over and play your machines too :) For the spacing job, would it be possible to print a sheet that is "equal" to the final silver printed stickers sheet but than on regular paper ? That way we can do some good practicing....
Title: Re: Alu sticker repro run
Post by: Etienne MacGyver on June 02, 2011, 12:48:01 PM
Sure, i can print that "test" sheet on normal paper.

i think we need to create "reference" stickers on the typewriter, since im not sure yet how the stickers will be cut in the end

i mean it could be that its cut on the cutlines but only through the etiket, and not the protective layer, or totally through all,

in the second case w will have alot of stickers, in the first case, the sheets stays intact, and i need to cut it afterwards with a knive, or scissors.

all depending on the tests we are going to do at the printer.

anyway , its always good to practice !
so if we just position the testpaper, and create reference points (left and right), i think thats the way to go

does this typewriter has an electric "Enter" or is it a manual ?

either way, after inserting the sticker its just counting the enters and it will be the same height (+-)

all this stories remembers me typing the labels for video casettes in the past  :)

Okay guys,

I want to start planning to take this into production.

I want to create a deadline for orders and wrap things up.

My idea is to finish the preparations this month, and take it to the printer in July.

Please check this post (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=2454.msg30561#msg30561) if your order is correct and let me know if there are any errors.

if you dont have made your order, you still have time to do so, i will stop accepting orders after 30 Juni 2011.

@Ully, the only thing to wrap up vectorwise is the #8 sticker, so if you got time, please give me the info needed, then i can finish this project.

Thanks everyone for joining in and made this possible !

i was at the storage the other day to get a new picture, but i had forgotten to bring a flashlight with me. impossible to get a straight on picture without a proper lightsource - will give it another try at the weekend!

Erika typewriter test:

Please ignore that the top line is straight and the rest skewed, I re-inserted the sheet again after the first line (obviously not very tight).

Also ignore the quality of the ink on the page....the ribbon cartridge is probably about as old as the machine...

The top lines are done in 10 the bottom in 12. (spacing between the letters)

This is comming to a reality folks!

The typewriter is not exactly the font, but its reliable, the IBM was not in this case.

Anyway, Big thanks to Gyruss (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?action=profile;u=952)  :spaceace:

He has picked up the material from the supplier. (he lives closer to them than me  :P)
another step closer to production !

I'll try to pick the stuff up at Gyruss' next week. I will work in Almere tuesday and wednesday and maybe thursday....however going in and out of Hilversum is sometimes a nightmare....depends on the time I will be in the area. Gyruss if you could keep them at your work that probably is easiest...

Hi, I did a Google search and found your forum thread. I'm very interested if possible to get some repro stickers from you. As reading other posts here, I'll make my list below. Thank you, I hope I'm not too late.

#4 - 12 of these (printed on metal foil) <-- I'll add my own serial and so forth
#5 - 12 of these (printed on metal foil) <-- I'll add my own serial and so forth
#11 - 12 of these (printed on metal foil)
#12 - 12 of these (printed on white)

I'm a collector of machines, so extras are always good, that is why the large number. Also let me know about payment. I can pay in advance or ? PayPal, check, money order, whatever. These look amazing that is why I'm very interested. Really surprised nobody has done this before. If the price is reasonable, I may add more the count. Thank you in advance.

not too late, and thanks for your order

i will add yours to the sheet, and take it in the run

the more people join, the cheaper the stickers will be in the end, thats why i dont have an estimate price yet.

looks like they will be between 5 and 10 bucks each.

I dont have a run in white atm, so i can take them on alu if you like , or later when i have a white run, i can take it with that.

just let me know what you like

sure, only the embossing will be difficult..

scan it, measure it and send it  ;D

maybe a piece of blanco alu sticker on top of this original metal plate to "copy" the embossing, fill that up with glue and stick it on top of a piece of plexi could work..

Maybe our very reliable RAM controls can do that, i heard that they are very good in reproduction parts

seriousely, maybe with plaster you can make a cast, and then melt tin / zink and pour that cast ?

one question / remark regarding that sticker:
i've checked various cabs which use it and there is not a single cab where the sticker is made up of one part, it's always cut right through the middle. so will this sticker be offered in one pieces or in two pieces? how about adding a fine line right in the middle as a guide for cutting if this is done in one piece?

dont you see the pinky squares in there ?

those are the "cutlines"

so yes, they are a set, but two separate stickers, so i can add only one half if you like,
on the other hand, there is still space on the sheets, and $$ technically speaking its the same price for one separate as for the set since i calculated the estimated price based on the set counting as 1 sticker..
same is for the #11 sticker that is a set with #11a..

i think also that the price will be less than the estimated price per sticker, so youre good to go  ;)

The thing is that #12 is originally a white sticker, and not a alu sticker, so thats why i have not put it in the sheet.
I dont have "white" print jobs atm.

do you want #12 printed on alu ?
If yes, i willl add them to the sheet.

please let me know..

Yesterday was the day that i went to the printers..
Private parking for visitors  ::)

Let's enter the building, armed with the sheets that gyruss picked up for me, and Andre transported back to his place, where i could pick them up, since thats on route from and to my job many times in the week.
Thank you guys !  :spaceace:

First thing that i noticed was this cool ceiling that they have printed. cool decoration for a gameroom too !

After some chatting with the owner and a tour through the company, i handed the files to his co-worker who started edditing and verify the files.
In the process he separated the magenta lines that i specified as "cutting lines".

Lets take it to the press  ;D

Now seriously,
The guy finishes the previous job on the printer, and recalibrated the printer for my job.

Calibration in progress..  :P

First file loaded into the printer..

Starting up the printer, it checks its temperatures and that kind of things..

Placing the sheet to the conveyor belt, although the belt sucks the sheet to it by vaccuum, we still needed to tape it down since the corners had some wrinkeling due to transport  :-\

Luckily it was outside of the printing area..  :-*

Loading the next sheet, again same process, lining out and tape it in place..

Printing in progress..

Here the owner is finishing the cutting job he was working on, after that its the alusheet's turn..

now the tricky part, since this is the first time they needed to cut this kind of material, it will be some trial and error...
the material is not supplied by them, and before we made the appointment back in the beginning of the year they already told me it could go wrong.
but anyway, they really wanted to try it and see if they can do it.
so they did all they can to make it a succes, a big plus for the printguys if you ask me.  :spaceace:

they do cut aluminium and other materials, but then they mill it, but this is too thin to mill...
the sheet is in place, and again taped to the conveyor belt..

First test, cutting totally through the sheet, cutterhead is removed to install a brand new knive..

recalibrating the knive, and its time to do some tests...

Don't know if you can see it good here, but we tried a cut first on the side.
(the little square in the right side)

that test gave not the desired result, while cutting, the material gave jaggered edges so cutting through was not an option..

Another test, "slitting" (where another special kind of knive cuts only the top layer), the knive is much more "flat" so it slides better through the material..
after the testcut, carefully removing the testcut...

Hmm, looks very prommising !
straight edges, and a nice sharp cut..  :-*

Contours loaded into the cutting device, ready to start..

Now disatergirl came around the corner...
and after some investigation of the knive, the guy came to the conclusion that after the first testcut, the knive was already dull!
because it is aluminium, the slitting was in fact metal to metal contact, which made the knive dull instantly...  >:(

There was ofcourse a possibility to change the knive after every sticker, but at 30€ a knive that would make the stickers very very expensive ! :o
so we decided to cut them manualy...
I have the sheets at home now, and i need to cut them with a utility knive...

But there was one good thing, the cutting machine will be recognised in the future as it is labeled as an Atari !

So it was a 50% succes, the printing is done with UV ink which is dried instantly by the two UV lamps in the print head.

I will cut the stickers "roughly" so you guys can make the corners with scissors if desired..

for the final price i need to wait for the invoice, so i can devide it..

It was a bit of a dissapointment for the cutting part, also for the printguys..
believe me they tried everything in they're power to fix it, but it was not doable.

They did give me another tip, which is lasercutting, but they dont have that equipment, and probably will raise the price again..

The only problem now is the etikets with rounded corners, the straight cuts i can do with the utility knive, so it was not all for nothing..

Lets see what will happen...
I need to find me some time to start cutting   :P

Too bad you have to cut them manually, but they still look great.

Off topic question: Do you think this company will be able to print the front art of my Pleiades cab on Vinyl?

Absolutely

they can even print it straight on the wood if you take the panel out..

that printer can handle materials untill 5 CM thick !

his motto, as long as it fits under the printer i can print on it  ;D

wow, etienne, what an effort! unfortunately, your effort will have to be even bigger now that you have decided to cut the stickers manually. is the material really so thick that a normal cutting knife can't cut through it?

as for the rounded edges, i always use a tool like this (http://www.amazon.de/3er-ECKENRUNDER-SAFE-847SP-BESTEHEND/dp/B002N3LD76) - works like a charm and produces perfectly round edges with the desired curve!

its not the thickness, because its very thin, its the metal to metal that dull's the knive.
we tried also with a utility knive, and if we hold the angle too high it gives jaggered cuts, i'd say the level needs to be like 15 degrees to have a straight cut with a utility knive... so yeah, i need to practice on my "extra" sheet..

as for the other tool, i never saw that before, is that like a punchpress or something ?

basically, it's like a hole puncher for paper, only that it rounds the edges. there are cheap variations and more expensive ones, but if the material is not too thick the cheap one (probably CCC) will do. i've rounded a couple of edges so far (for example the williams sticker on my moon patrol) and it just works / looks great!

Yesterday i took the sheets out of the package to experiment a bit with cutting.
I took the faulty sheet with me from the printers to practice, in that way i will not destroy this:  :P

I tried various techniques; a utility knive, a rolcutter and ordinary scissors..

While testing, i tried to salvage some stickers from the failed testsheet..
some of you may recognise the "Jamma Pinout Sticker" (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=2987.0).  ::)

The rolcutter and the ordinary scissors give the best results.
The utility knive suffers from the same effect as the CNC cutting machine, so the theory of the printerguy was totally right!

So that will be the way to go from here, first cut them to the size that they can fit under the rolcutter,
and to get a good straight cut as a finish, im going to use the rolcutter.
The rounded corners where nessecary, i will probably do with the tool that Ully tipped us about.

There goes the rest of the restsheet...  bye bye testsheet  :'(

Now i need some "quiet time" to cut the rest of the sheets, since the material is delecate, it needs my full concentration..  :P

Ow, and one more test, i shot a video while cutting with scissors, and a "smudge test"..
It does not smudge, its rock solid !, so thats a very good thing !  :-*

There are also handheld rotary cutters that are used by seamtrists: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/category.jsp?_DARGS=/joann/catalog/productdetailleftnav.jsp.9_A&_DAV=&_dynSessConf=-5988426301512097489&narrowSelection=false&categoryURL=true&CATID=cat393855&supercatId=cat1760

But I found that it is also best to use the mat for it as well.

I have received the invoice, and i calculated the costs...

I have good and bad news, the bad news first..

As you could see in the report on DLF, the cutting was a problem

But that is only a problem for etikets with round corners..
The straight etikets are fine, since i can cut those on my rol cutter, and with scissors

Now the good news, i have stated that the costs will be depended on the orders i have received, so that means more etikets, the cheaper the price per etiket.

I thought it would be between 5€ and 7,50€ each like stated in the first post, based on cutting and printing.

Since the cutting was a problem, the printer/cutter just billed me with the costs of the printing, and one knive for his cutting device.

Calculated with the orders i have received, the final price is 2,2€ per etiket.

I will start with the cutting soon, because i have had a very busy time last weeks, i simply did not have the time yet to cut them.

Anyway, when i have cut them, i will contact you guy's by PM to make the final arrangements.

I can provide a link to the PDF files that i have used, so you can use that as a template if you want to cut the round corners yourself with a scissors or something.

Little update,

My livingroom looks like a production area atm  :)

I have cut the sheets into strokes with ordinary scissors, so they fit under my rolcutter..

Carefully put them into position..

I am cutting them as clean as possible, so that you guys can cut them to the exact size if desired.

The stickers have 5 mm. between them, and i simply cut it there so they are a bit bigger than the originals.
there are people that requested the actual size though, and those i will cut to the exact size ofcourse   ::)

Take 1, Camera.. Light... Action!

CUT!  ;D

And presto ! nice and sharp cutted  :-*

One sheet done !
note that this was a bulk, and the person wanted to cut them himself, so i cutted them in strokes of 6, so they fit in an "A4" Envelope for shipping.

NEXT!  ;D

Two more sheets to go, same process  ;)

Will continue soon, it was a bit late yesterday when i finished the first sheet...

Cutting done  :)

Slipped everyting in enveloppes and took the weight of each of them to calculate the shipping costs.

The envelopes i used are enforced ones with cardboard to prevent blending during shiping.
I will attach labels with "fragile" and "do not blend" on them as an extra precaution.
I hope the postal service doesn't screw up..  ;D

People involved will receive a PM soon with details.

All PM's are send, some people have responded and payed.

The people that have payed can expect they're stickers soon, since this night i packed them into "cardboard rugged envelopes".

I have added some labels with "fragile/do not blend" and i have sticked them with a little piece of masking tape on a piece of paper so they stay away from the edges of the envelope to prevent damage.

Be carefull when you take them out so you don't wrinkle them when removing from the "support paper"  ;)

I'll drop them in the mail tomorow.

Finally i see the profit of my Dymo  ;D

Title: Re: Alu sticker repro run
Post by: Etienne MacGyver on October 25, 2011, 12:43:58 PM
I have asked them if that was possible, but there is a technical aspect that is an issue.

Its not the printing that is a problem, because the guy says as long as it fits under the printer they can print on it.
The problem is the ink.
That is Transparent...  so it has a good coverage, and probably will look good at first sight, but when you lit the fluorecent lamp behind it, you will see the lightfixture "shine throug"..
Thats why they adviced me to go a different route and that is print in mirror on the non adhesive side of transparent vinyl, and paste white vinyl over that.

so the adhesive side will have the correct image while the ink is trapped between the two layers of vinyl, which also give another advantage, which is protection of the ink.

The colors are calibrated on the white background, so if you want the correct colors, you need a white (or simular tint where they can calibrate to) surface to print on.

now i can imagine you think; Hey why not print on the normal side of white plexi ?

Then you have the ink on the outside of the marquee..
it is possible ofcourse, but in the past they silkscreened it on the back, so i think that is the way to repro IMHO.

Cool little printer, often thought of getting one of those...

Is it good enough to do the VAN sticker ?

Back on this, i know its not the correct topic, but i am not stealing it since its my own topic  ;D

I tried with different settings in the PDF and in the printer settings....  :-\

Since my wife's pc only has Foxit reader for pdf's i could not reposition or scale it so good..  :'(

but...

there

is

hope...

I took the AI file, saved it as EPS, took that in photoshop while importing it it asked the resolution i wanted so i said 1200 dpi

must be high enough for a 7x2,2cm sticker  ;D

Saved it as a TIFF and took the software that came with the printer.
opened the designer and imported the picture..

after some shifting i found a position that fitted completely  :spaceace:

Sorry for the flash..
The etikets are not 100% compatible with my printer, so thats why i needed to shift a bit in the designer..

I printed 10 more so you have enough now for all your cabinets  ;)

Will be delivered with the alu stickers ..

There is some interest from KLOV members for more, so i can start to collect again untill i got a full sheet

these are 100x70 cm and will carry aprox. 75 stickers...

let me know if you want some more, or if you missed this run and you want some now, or if there is anything not here that you want, i can vector it and put it in the sheet.

As you might have read in this topic:

https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=2454.0

it was a huge succes, bigger than i expected.

I have decided to take new orders for another run.
I have to collect a full sheet to justify the costs.

you can understand that 1 sticker would be way too expensive, so the more "orders" the better i would say.

I cannot give a time of printing since i dont know when the sheet is full.
Anyway, the sheet measurement is 100 x 70 cm. and calculating roughly there fit 70 - 75 etikets in one sheet (depending on the size ofcourse)

once the sheet is full, i can let it print, or if there is more than one sheet, even better which reduces the costs.

Based on the last run, the costs per etiket is  € 2,20 and depending on the quantity the shipping may vary.

Again, like the first run, the idea is not to profit from it.

i will display the pics of the etikets that are here in the next post, and if there is anything that is not there which you like, i can create that if there is a good picture / scan available with measurements in millimeters. (yeah yeah i know you guys like inches but i am european hey  )

also in the next post i will keep track of the received orders.

sure, why not  ;)  :D
I have asked Pieter to pickup again 4 pieces at the supplier...
so if the second sheet is not full, i just collect there again untill its full again..

Anyway,

I did a little experimenting with embossing the "Clarendon bold" font.
Not a succes, since illustrator converts it to raster and applies the embossing effect then..
that looked horible since it is so small
IMHO too many jaggered edges, and it will totally ruin the nice sticker.

So i went the other direction, it is not possible to get the exact effect as imprinted letters ofcourse,
but a little gray tint put in top of a grey field that represents the color of the aluminium gave me satisfying results..

Now i have done some different fonts, since the "clarendon" looked too thick

I searched for a simular font:

Another candidate, this time a little more classic.

then just plain "courier" since they use that also many time in real typewriters (well at least in europe the did)

but all in all it did not "catched me" :-\

Then i found this, it looked way more authentic to me..

and at last the one that attracts me the most, since it does have a more authentic effect than the somewhat "destroyed/old" effect that the previous had.

If you ask me, then i use the last.

but maybe you have another prefference..
What you guys think ?

Today i was in the center of our town and i dropped by a hobby shop to check if they have the punch Ully was talking about..

They did!, and damn cheap also, which is always nice  :P

Can't wait to try this out and see if it works like i want to have the corners..

The radius looks good from what i can see in the bottom of the punch..

I still have 4 left-overs from the first run which do need round corners..
Let's prepare them to the correct size first..

Insert the corner in the punch and push the button..

OMG! its perfect !  :o

Just with 240v and i don't know about the amps... What are we using in europe???
Title: Re: The Return of the Alusticker Repro Run
Post by: level42 on November 27, 2011, 12:15:28 PM
The Irish machines had 230V on them, not 240.

The amps differ per machine. F.I. a SW cockpit  draws a lot more power than MC.

There seem to be a number of people wanting serial nr. 0001 which is funny because Atari never used that serial nr.
They had a coded system from a certain point in time so the competitor couldn't figure out how much machines there were made.

Also. serial nrs. 001 and (and around) would probably be for "inside" machines, the first builds etc.

Bally f.i. started numbering the serial production of Galaxian from nr. 100.

Anyway, soon we will see e-bay listings "The very first (fill in game name) built !, thus worth twice the normal price" ;) ;) ;)

That corner cutter looks perfect ! :)
Title: Re: The Return of the Alusticker Repro Run

Yes, if you look at the irish sticker, it has a fixed value of 230 volts:

The Amps looks like its not 2,5, but 2.5 and the dot is in the center so i think they mean 2-5 which makes sence

I think all atari machines draw between 2 and 5 amps.  8)

Michael, michael...you're mixing up things.

In electricity there is electric tension which is usually called and indicated in Voltage.  On all wall outlets in Europe there is (about) 230V. It used to be 220V on mainland Europe and 240V in the UK. However many years ago the UK lowered a bit to 240 and mainland increased a bit to 230V.

So, I find it hard to believe that Denmark has 240V now....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mains_electricity_by_country

Apart from that, the electrical Current which runs through an electrical device is determined by what tha device does. F.I. a small LED liht bulb draws very little current, an electrical oven draws a lot.

Anyway........whatever....." ;D :D ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, indeed "whatever"  ;D
i am not going to change the fixed values, since i already traced the fonts to paths  8)

Besides it also states +-10% so its value states that everything between 207 and 253 will work  ;)

i played a couple of rounds at the party a few weeks ago and had a blast. of course, not as good as galaga, but nevertheless a great game which i'm still looking for ...

Incidently I played Galaga last week at Robin's. Very nice looking cab !
I played one game and Robin missed the  opportunity to take a pic of me playing Galaga !!

I much preferred the GORGEOUS Vanguard, I think its the best looking Zacc I've seen so far !!

Yes, no problems,  for the galaga, is that white vinyl or alu that you want it on ?

send me the measurements and a straight pic, and i'll create it and take it in the run for you

Taito looks good enough for me, but i know you are anal, so when you got the measurements ill send you a pdf first that you can print on transparant, or print on plain paper and make it wet .

Talking of analness, how is the adjustment on the #2 that i send you ?

printed on alu!

send me the measurements and a straight pic, and i'll create it and take it in the run for you

i've managed to remove the sticker (YES, i didn't destroy it :D) so i can provide you with a nice straight scan (put it against a red background to give you a better contrast)

dimensions for this one are 7.3 x 5.7 centimeters!!! i've also send you the "original picture" via email ...

one more thing: there are two more stickers on my rampage

i can't get any better pictures or dimensions because the cabinet is "trapped" between other games and i can barely reach it!

Yesterday was alot of install work, so i need to click "next" once in a while and the pc does the rest..  heavy job  ;D
So i took advantage of the waiting time so to speak,
Anyway, i hope they are ok, if there is some adjustments, let me know and i'll take care of it and they will be identical then

Thanks for checking, in that way they will be more accurate and everybody profits from that.

Another added for the white run:

yeah, i tried to rotate and shift some more, because i needed space for one more etiket.

but i could not squeeze that in anymore nomatter what i tried to puzzle.

so i spoke with the "requestor" and left that etiket out of the run.
the only possible way to print that was to add a 3th sheet which in return would increase the total price which ovious will raise the final price per etiket very negative.

i could also wait more orders and fill a third sheet, but that would also take a longer time again.

so to keep things simple i just filled them up to the max  ;D

Okay, i picked them up at the printers today after work.

After a big trafficjam i arrived back home with the goodies.
One roll of vinyl and one "cardboard sandwich"

Lets take a closer look, the vinyl..

The aluminium sheets..

Closer..

another..

do you see your etikets somewhere here ?  ;)

Since the big sheets are very fragile, i decided to cut them up into strips.
they need to be cut anyway, otherwise they dont fit under my cutter..

First sheet done..

Time to cut sheet #2..

Almost there..

And sheet 2 is also cutted to smaller strips.

Later i will start the defenitive cutting, that will take again some time.
I'll do my best to finish it up asap so i can start shipping.

i will display the pics of the etikets that are here in the next post, and if there is anything that is not there which you like, i can create that if there is a good picture / scan available with measurements in millimeters.

SimpleSi asked for them.
but its true that its not displayed in the post, but that is because i cannot edit old post..
on klov i got a simular threat about these stickers which has more pictures than here.
if there is a next time, i will post example pics in another way (link to a page or something)

anyway, do you need one ? i think i got one spare...  i wanted to fill the empty space in the puzzle  ;D

Too much !  ;D ;D ;D

no, seriousely

i don't know the exact count, but i do know it was more work than the last time because i needed to cut every sticker separately.

the last time i could deliver some  "A4 sized" slices to a big order...

I need to count the totals from this post to see if i did everything correctly  :D

I need to find me some time to sort the rest out and prepare them for shipping.

In the meantime i ordered another round corner punch,
I have a 10 mm, but that is too big for the red warning stickers, so i ordered a 5 mm...

that way i can use both  :D
Title: Re: The Return of the Alusticker Repro Run
Post by: Etienne MacGyver on February 23, 2012, 09:12:08 PM
found a little time this evening, and started to roundcorner punch and pack some..
Title: Re: The Return of the Alusticker Repro Run
Post by: Etienne MacGyver on February 24, 2012, 07:25:55 PM
For the small etikets, my round cornerpunch was too big (1 cm radius).

so i ordered a 5 mm radius punch for the small ones.

It is a different label, but it also works like a charm!

Some tips: Be REALLY careful with the alu stickers, it's very easy to damage them. They are also pretty hard to separate from the backing, I uses a sharp knife to get a small start.....

For the 2 zacc's alu you can contact bencao74 from this forum, he bought some for his webstore, so you can order them from him.

http://wp1114205.wp150.webpack.hosteurope.de/xtcmodified/index.php?language=en& (http://wp1114205.wp150.webpack.hosteurope.de/xtcmodified/index.php?language=en&)

as for the red coindoor decal, i need to check at home what i have left, it might be exactly two that i have extra, if not, i dont know how many Belike needs, but he ordered a whole bunch and maybe can miss 2 for you.

I'll let you know when i got home.

I think also  ;)

It makes it complete IMHO

Well, guys, thats it, i am out of etikets, so if you need some, i need to start run #3  ;D

The only i still got here are the paper version of the red warning stickers as seen in Bruno's picture.
They can go for free since they did not cost me anything either, only postal costs if i need to send them to you.

I would like to thank everybody for participating, without you this would not have happened.

I have 1 sheet unprinted of aluminium, so i can take some orders, but dont know when it will be printed since i need to fill it to justify costs.

Another thing is that if there is requests for stickers that i have made for Bencao74, i need to send you to him as he bought them for in his web shop.

So , the second run was again a succes.

I have made a mistake in one of the orders, and it looks like Ully's package never made it to him.

We guess its lost in the mail  :(

Anyway, i wanted to correct the mistakes that i did in the run, and i have still one empty alusheet here.

Also the order involved a error on a etiket that was printed on white vinyl.

So i am taking another load on the shoulders and introduce the "Re-return of the alusticker/vinylsticker reprorun"  ;D

Folow this link and submit your requests if you want some.

New topic : Re-return of the alusticker/vinylsticker reprorun (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=3545.0)

(exept for the etikets that are available through Bencao's webshop)
i dont want to steal customers from him  ;)

Hi Etienne. You re a great guy, you know that? :spaceace:

I would like to you to print one of my superhangon sticker .
It is alu but it's surfaced in white. Can your print dude do that?
Here is a sample:

I know it sound a bit dull to print a sticker on alu if you cannot see it, but its "just like sega did".

I had an idea, maybe it's something for the next run of stickers:

What about an instruction sticker for multi boards like the Double Donkey Kong, Pac man 96in1, Centi/milipede or maybe even the 60in1?

Nope, that is probably silkscreened with a white layer first.

I can have it print on white vinyl for you and stick that on top of alusticker if you like that  ;D

There are two simple tiny silvery stickers under the marquee that generally seem to be missing on the Space Harrier bezel.

Unfortunately mine are missing and it's hard to find a decent pic of them!

Count me in for a Taito coin door sticker!

As long as it's a straight edge to cut it's not a problem. It gets funny if it comes to round corners  ::)

Cutting is done, and some of them are packed by now:

used again cardboard to prevent damage and bending and normal paper between them:

Be carefull not to wrinkle them when you unpack them, they are hold in place by some masking tape on the back of the etiket.
i reccomend to cut out the paper on the back to separate them from each other.

i also applied some warning labels like the previous times, i hope the postalservice also notice this :)

i will PM everyone involved soon with details to proceed.

Thanks
Etienne

That may be, but i have send to Germany and Belgium, and they take sometimes up to 2 weeks before its there...

I guess the dutch and hungarian postal system have a good route

Yeah, I guess the amount of post to Hungary is a lot lower than to Belgium and Germany and following that the post goes by air to Hungary I bet, also because of the distance.

To Germany and Belgian it's all road transport.

However, 2 weeks is extremely long for those countries....

Little update.

I am planning to do another decal run.

in the last year i have received numbers of requests by PM for another run.
I have kept all of those, and i made a inventory of my PM's.

to make my life a bit easier (as this is just hobby and not a business for me) i started thinking about how to keep track of all the requests and orders.

as i only do these once in a while, i needed a system and i found some free webstore solution which i am experimentating with as we speak.

also there was the situation that along the way (read during the collecting time to have enough for a efficient run) that there came variants on decals and i needed to label them 5a, 5b, 5c etc etc.

that was making everything more and more dificult so i decided to start sorting all i have an put it in that webstore.

Take a look if you like, and i will let you guys know when the store is "open"  ;)

http://www.easywebshop.com/arcadedecals

I know some of you have ordered sets in the past, and i am trying to get also sets up there per machine.

if anyone would like to help out on what labels go into a perticular set i am all ears  :P

first things first, let me get organised and take it from there.

Greets
Etienne

Guys, you can start to collect what you like to have, but you also need to wait untill i figured things out and everything is in the webstore pagina.

i will not start a run before i got that in order.

i understand its nice to post now what you want and need, but i will only take orders after i finish that website.

i dont mean to sound negative, but in this moment i am putting my attention in this webshop site and not on collecting the orders for the next run.

I love to help everyone out, but to make things go smooth, i need to finish the webshop first.

it will give me the data i need when you guys place your orders on the webstore and in a consistent way.

it has been hard to keep track of everything just in the threads, so to prevent errors in the future, this will be the route we take.

i did put some labels to the shop the last days, and will try to fill it asap. (every day a few items must be do-able ;) )

thanks for your patience and trust guys !

I did add some items the last days, and will try to do a few every day and finish up soon.

2: Irish Atari - Ready for Printing.

I have now two sheets completely full, on the vinyl there is space enough.

I would like to close this session for now, or there must be people interested to start filling a third sheet.

so lets see what comes in the comming month and set the closing date on 1 november.

depending on orders to receive this month, i'll proceed to the printing stage with 2 or 3 sheets.

Thanks to everyone who participated untill now.

Yes Andre, i remember your 2600 sticker, i have the tool in the car and can pass next week and drop that, and pickup that decal

i now have all orders in my file, and i need to do some re-arrangement.

I expect this to be done and taken to the printers this month, so if anybody wants in on this run, let me know before lets say 25 November.

Then i can wrap up the files and send them over to the printers, and take it from there.

Thanks for now to everybody.

The run has been printed, i just picked it up at the printers.

However, there was a small issue, one of the corners of the alu bended during printing. (probably the heat of the UV curing lamp)

No biggie though, they offered me a reprint of that, for which i will deliver the material next Friday.

Ofcourse everybody's order will be delivered in perfect condition as you guys may expect/are used to from me.

Crappy cellphone pic, don't be fooled by the picture, it looks very very sharp IRL.

The damage on the corners:

It was inevitable because i changed the "free border" of 3 cm to 2 cm and normally they paste the sheet down with painters tape to the belt.

The 2 cm border makes the "taping operation" more difficult as there is less space to tape, so we relied on the vacuum table, but the material is aluminium and is much more temperature sensitive than paper / cardboard / vinyl, so one of the corners bended and pressed against the print head  :-\

It was a gamble, and i learned again something for the future...  ::)

Anyway, a reprint will be done for the damaged decals.

Delivering quality is all that matters IYAM.

For those of you who are interested in the printing process, here an old video i shot when i was at the printers for my first run:

(http://img.youtube.com/vi/RHIC64nHtPY/0.jpg) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHIC64nHtPY)
(http://www.opdenkelder.com/pics/player.jpg) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHIC64nHtPY)

Now its time for the worst part...  cutting every decal....   8)

During the finishing up of the last run, i am also preparing the next, i have a question, is there anybody that can tell me the missing text on this decal ?

Its on the back of a frogger according to the person who asked me to repro this.

Any help is appriciated !

Thanks

I have unscrambled this so far:

Notice
Outside interference such as s....c (1.static ?)
..urge (2.surge ?) or line voltage variation ca...s (3.causes ?)
... (4.the ?) monitor screen to scramble, ..- (5.re- ?)
...ing (6.jecting ?) a coin instantly recycles .... (7.??)

Good guess Nic, it also makes more sence then ..

Lets see where we stand:

                  Notice
Outside interference such as static
surge or line voltage variation causes
the monitor screen to scramble, in-
serting a coin instantly recycles en-
tire system. this feature saves many
otherwise required service calls.

Sounds legit to me  8) ::)

Many thanks guys !

Little progress, Alu is cut too now and packing has started as you can see:

When i am done with that, i will get the postage, and then i know the totals for each person, and will contact you for payment, and send the stuff out.

I know that Control panels where originally screened on metal plates, but i think it makes a nice replacement.

I am curious how it looks when applied.

Ully's Rally came out great, so i guess this will be cool too !

I am happy you like the decals, the orange really pops in this one, i was also like  the first time i saw it when i picked it up at the printers.
I could not stop looking, Sooooo  pretty  :D 8)

It was better than my expectation, since its not white as a background but silverish, and as you know the color is based on a "white"  background.

That's about the same as trying the English speaking guys to get the pronunciation of Taito correctly...

It's not Teeeyytoooouhh or Taaaiiiitooooo....it's, Taa-ee-to, three syllables....it's a Japanese name ! :)

Sweet.  Hope you had a good time.  I hear you are doing another run of Alu Stickers?  I saw your website doesn't have Universal Co stickers.  What do you need to reproduce them?  a proper scan, or will a good quality pic suffice?

I am new to this site, but frequent the KLOV site.
Title: Re: Alu sticker repro run
Post by: Etienne MacGyver on May 07, 2015, 10:58:44 AM
i preffer highres scans with dimentions in millimeters.

but straight highres pics and inches can also be used  ;)

i know that 1 inch is 2,54 mm.  8)

i have some space left in the second sheet, and can squeeze in some decals if you want.

i do need to create the file though, so it will delay the rest of the print, but as i do this on the side, its done when its done ;)

i print when i am ready, thats the nice thing about the way i work, luckily its not my main job  :D

I did a small run of the Taito Upright Coin Door stickers last year.
Etienne graciously helped me out with the artwork making the whole process quicker (thank you btw) :).
They were printed onto 1mm aluminium with 3M adhesive on the back, each piece was die cut.
They have all been sold.

Thats not the correct font, my file has a different font :

Strange, my file has the text outlined in vectors, so you are not depending on having the correct font installed..

Anyway, always nice to see stuff like this  8) :spaceace: :spaceace:

Yes, I noticed this when I got the finished product back.
I'm not sure why/how they ended up with that font, lazy printer?
It was the first time doing a reproduction run, there are so many little things that need to be confirmed with the printers before giving the go ahead.

It will definitely have the correct font if i do another run.

Does anyone still have this or know where to find it, would love to get the vectorized astro wars art.
