Well, I got this bezel when I got this cab', but it doesn't mean it's the original bezel after all  The problem with this cabinet is the fact I cannot compare with someone else. I don't know any other owner of this specific French cabinet version.
Maybe an other part is missing...or maybe there should be a bigger 'under bezel'?

Let's continue the work. Now let's fix the cash box door and its frame...

...full of rust, bends...

...and broken...

Same tools than previously (for the control panel work) in order to remove the paint :

That product does the job for about 90%, for the rest I'm using my drilling machine equipped with a metallic brush, in order to obtain this :

...and for the hardest areas to access, I'm using my Dremel ...

Now let's fix this :

Easy... I fold the metal, and I put a screw that I'll have to cut of course  :P

Now, let's do the same job for the coin doors + its frame :

I'm also using this Rust Remover / protection :

Ready to be painted :

While I'm working with metal parts to repair, let's fix that ugly metal speakers grill

No picture during the paint process (but it's the same than always : Primer first, than the paint....several layers).

That speaker grill looks far better now :

(Mhhh, this picture reminds me that I may have to paint these 4 screws in black too...)

And of course, all the other parts :

Looks far better now  :-*

muuuuuuch better, bruno! :)

tow things i noticed:
- is the speaker grill attached like this (out of alignment) for a reason?
- are you going to fix those small wood damages to the front?
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

Well, it's strange but the speaker grill has originally fixed in that position... so I keep it like that. There is no other hole around, so I presume it's really the original location / position  8).
There's no more wood damage in the front  ;) ... except two holes in the front (an operator plate was fixed there). It'll a very easy fix that I'll probably do  ;)

The original marquee, once lit, looks very poor  :?

I already tried in the past to fix similar things on marquee... but I never succeeded to correct the problem properly.
So let's go with an other marquee. Got this one from US in a perfect condition (NOS or repro.... but it's too perfect IMO to be a NOS, so let's presume it's a repro ::):-*

And here's a new difference between this Euro Q*Bert and the US model... the size of the marquee

The US one is bigger. Not a big difference... but a difference anyway :

Ok, Fortunately for me, the height of the US one won't be a problem, there's enough room... but I'll have to cut a small portion of the width  8)

I'm not afraid to cut plexi anymore

I do it manually (like I did in this old video), very slowly and with a larger saw in order to remain quite right....

See, it's clean

On location  :-*

Yes... This is it!  ;)

I consider this restoration done  8) Yeps, maybe still some minors things to do later (change the screws colors on the panel, two small holes to hide,....) ... but ... hey? Who cares? This cabinet already rocks perfectly now!  :-* :-* :-* .. and let me show you how it looks right here, right now :

Now, take some pop-corn, click on this video... and because it's a 720HD vid' (do not forget to select that option on youtube), do not hesitate to select the full screen option!  ;)

Enjoy  ;)

incredible video, bruno! man, you went through a lot of trouble to film that, but the result was well worth it.  :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:

btw, which program did you use for that map route thingy? looks indiana jones-que 8)

I consider this restoration done  8) Yeps, maybe still some minors things to do later (change the screws colors on the panel, two small holes to hide,....) ...

wanna take a bet that those screws will never get changed?  ;) i know that from my own experience: if i don't do something minor right now, i'm never going to do it!

but once again: PERFECT!!! i'm totally jealous, but you deserve that game.

oh, a couple more things: are you running the game on original hardware with an original monitor? do you have the knocker installed?
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

Thanks Ully,

I'm using AdvanceMame/Dos RGB via scart. No knocker but it's possible to interface it, I would say. I'll check for that.

Yes, doing a such video takes a lot of time (I worked on it yesterday all the evening, and all this morning). I'm using iMovie (on my dear iMac  :-* :-* :-*), and the 'Indiana Jones' map route is an effect integrated in iMovie.

 :)
