Would that be the "light", or "zero" Coke? And if it does work, could Fanta do as well?
Lol, same shit. :D

I would say use the zero variant, as it has no sugar

the active component in cola is phosphoric acid.

sugar will make things "sticky"  ;D

EPISODE 05: "Like new dresses..."

Starring : Darth Nuno

...and an other unexpected guest : a bug

And here's the giant joint  brand new vinyl, a roll of 4 x 3 meters :

Well, the original vinyl was fixed with double side adhesive, but because the brand new vinyl is a little bit finer, I would like to test something else first, something that would fix all the surface.
After my research, it seems that applying vinyl on metal is not a very common or usual thing?  Let's try these 2 products that may do the thing :

Let's do a test on samples...

36 hours... it doesn't stick very well...  :?

Not a problem, I'll finally go with the original way...double side adhesive. Ok it's time to cut 6 pieces of vinyl :

I'm checking the width of the piece of vinyl... perfect!  8)

As I said, double side adhesive...

...will to the trick, like this  ;)

I apply it like a side art on a cabinet. First, I stick the first half of the vinyl...

...and the other part :

Et voilĂ  :

Same job for the second 'Gun Base Assy' ...

Most the the screws on the 'Gun Base Assy' were damaged & rusted... I'll replace all of them by brand new ones :

...progressing...

...and this is it! 6  'Gun Base Assy' with their new dresses...  :-*

I'll now 'stand up' all the 6 'Gun Base Assy' for a last cleaning...

...but also.. what?

...an other bug here?! Ok, friendlier than the giant spider from the last episode!  :P

Ok, so I said that I  'stand up' all the 6 'Gun Base Assy' for a last cleaning but also to cut holes for the wires and screws.

Episode E05 is also available in this video ;)

Great, mate,

It's difficult to have motivations to continue even with the cold temperatures outside (and inside)

But I think you'd like to see all this mess rebuilt as soon as you can, especially when you read your
technician book that shows you it's only a HUGE meccano toy.

Maby it's time you put some heaters in G3 Bruno, i'm worried of condensation with all that steel....
ATM there's a cozy 17 degrees in The Shed, and believe me, that makes a difference!

Yes. Temporary put a few radiators along the walls, under the windows and perhaps some at the door/entrance. Cool is good, but once you have these metal parts there, and electronics, especially during winter you would do well to mind the ambient temperature.

EPISODE 06: "Monolith!"

Starring : Darth Nuno
Guest star : Sun

The 'Gun Base Assy' #1 is now ready...

to receive its ...Gun Assy, sounds logical!  ;)

A couple of connectors to set...

...and I can now put the first 'Seat Assy'!  8)

Easy access to the screws, thanks to a 'service' opening

It's done!  :)

Now same job for the 'Gun Base Assy' #2...let's move it on its 'monolith' position!

Unfortunately, the half of the seats are damaged...see  :?

I'll have to rebuild these parts. Long time ago, when I had a bike (CBR 600), I had to repair the motorcycle seat (following an small accident). I'll check that way to make rebuild the damaged/missing ones...hope this won't cost too much!

Ok, here's also parts to clean : the 'Gun Base Assy' edge protection :

Thinner is really good for cleaning such parts, see

On location, once fully cleaned

...and TWO  :)

Monolith...again!  8)

Same job... THREE!

FOUR!

During this hard work, I fortunately got 'moral support' from my daughter...

...yes Sun?

I won't move from here until the game is running!

OK, let's accelerate the work then!  ::) ;D

On the 'Gun Base Assy' #5, I notice an hack done at this level! See the white wire...

...coming for the 'box boards #1' into the 'Gun assy' :

Inside the 'Gun assy', that white wire apparently provides 110V to... a power supply located there! What the hell?

Ok, I'll check l8ter the purpose of this 'hack/additional power supply' here! Let's finish the assembling first for now.

FIVE & SIX are done!  8)

It takes shape, hell yeah!  :-*

...and here's this episode 6 in this video

I want to sit in that seat and hold that gun, AND FIRE SOME LASERS, NOW!

About the damaged seats, you can actually rebuild the wooden seat-panel if you un-screw it from under the seat, remove the old staples and buy some new leather. Genuine is more expensive, but there are synthetical alternatives too. Then get some camping-matrass and cut it to fit your wooden seat panel there. Then cut out a piece of leather to fit over both the matrass and panel and use a stapler to attach it underneath the wooden plate, just as the original was.

I am curious though how one can fix these cigarette burns on the white plastics. This is what actually annoys me the most. That people are/where playing Galaxian3 *smoking at the same time*!? What the hell are people thinking??

(... they are not laser-burns, are they?)

Remember the '80s?  Every game had cig burns...  I remember not even noticing the smoke as my parents smoked too.

*note...  I did not follow in those footsteps!   ;)

It's great to see how you assemble every part. It will be very satisfying to see it working within a couple of days/weeks.

I guess I have mentionted this before but back in time I have vomited in your Galaxian 3 (Lunapark at Blankenbergen)       - not sure which seat though.  ;D

In my defence: I was young, beach party, much of drinks, impressing girls, arcadehal next to it ... well you know the drill. :-)
