[Road Trip]: Enter Pleiads
« on: July 30, 2011, 10:15:39 PM »

A few weeks ago there was this ad on marktplaats for a Pleaids cabinet. Now i don't really like the US pleiads cab (http://youtu.be/cX2msnF5uzY) but the Spanish/European version is definitely a work of art imo. So i didn't hesitate, called the seller and made him an offer, which he gladly accepted.  :D ;D

The cabinet is located in Neeroeteren, Belgium, about 2 hours driving from my house.

So why renting such a big van for just one cabinet??

The answer: Besides the pleiads, i was finally going to pick up the paperboy i got a few months ago. But when i arrived at the sellers place the 2 small stairs he told me about, weren't small at all!!  Impossible to get the cabinet down with just 2 people. So this will have to wait or i'll have to let it go.  >:( ???

Still pissed about of the paperboy debacle we hit the road to Belgium.

Maybe a drink will calm me down a bit.  ;)

If that didn't help this nice windmill will.  :D

So about 1.5 hours later we passed the Dutch border and the scenery chanced into something even more calm en peaceful.

After taking a look at the horses, we arrived at the sellers place. He used to be an operator of mechanical bulls, big inflatable castles, arcade games, etc. He owned lot's of cabinets and he even had that Nintendo clay shooting simulator, which he sold some time ago to a guy from Venlo.

Inside his warehouse i spotted this thing with a big Namco logo on it!

It's a Namco Shoot Away, non working but with an extra pcb. If somebody is interested in this please let me know, so i can give you his phone number.

After some small talk we loaded in the Pleiades and went on our way home.

When we arrived at my place, i removed the dust from the cabinet and this is what i got. You can see that the art on the front of the cabinet is missing.

Both sides are in okay condition but may need some touch-up.

The marque, bezel and cpo all look great!

The monitor definitely has issues, when i turned it on i got these red stripes

The went away after some time but the game is missing some colors.

The inside of the cabinet. Everything is still there, it just needs some good cleaning.

Congratulations, the cab looks very nice. Too bad about the Papaerbioy, what a bummer. But still one nice score.  :)

welcome to our exclusive club of proud pleaids owners! :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:

you have a nice collection of games in your gamroom: centipede, ms pac-man, pac-man - what else is there and (even more important) how many more cabs can you fit in? ;)

regarding that paperboy: what was so special about those stairs? why weren't you able to get it down with two guys?

When we arrived at my place, i removed the dust from the cabinet and this is what i got. You can see that the art on the front of the cabinet is missing.

the art on mine was missing as well, thankfully bruno scanned it and i edited it into one large file ready to print! mine came out great

if you need any help with the resto, just ask! :)
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

Pieter's Pac is really RonaldReagan's Pac.

Great addition to the collection, I really like that cab and Pleiads is an underrated game.

Shame about the PB....I have had too SMALL stairs before (when picking up the Judge Dredd pinball) but never too BIG stairs  ;D ;D

the cab was quite heavy and not easy too handle
the stairs was pretty long and a bit steep, the house was an old Amsterdam canalhouse, 17th century
plus the stairs were small because of an oldpeoples lift (dont know if you guys know that type of lifts) which made the place to stand less broad.

the cab can be brought down, but you got to be with 4 people. I asked for advice at a tv/washmachine store around the corner, and they said we were out of our minds for even trying. Should use a lift through the window, or hire a moving company.

the 'steekkar' was useless also he said. The cab would have definately fall down the stairs and be shaky because of the bumps it would get on the stairs.

it was definately a dissapointment

Congratulation for this new *rare* cabinet and welcome to the very 'select' club of Irecsa Pleiads Owners Club  ;D

As Ully already said, don't miss this topic that includes the work done regarding your missing kickplate artwork  ;)

Regarding your cabinet, it seems that a modification has been done, maybe following a broke or something... see the edge of your cabinet

it's cut on the edges. (first arrow)
It is a metal part that protect all the top of the side? (second arrow)

See the differences with my cabinet

Thanks guys!

@ Ully and Bruno: of course i saw your pleiads restorations, both look stunning! If i could accomplice half of it i would be very happy!  The front art looks great, i'll pm you some questions The Metal bars are places over the t-molding, i don't think anything is broken, but we'll see when i remove them.
At the moment i own the following cabinets: Donkey Kong, Ms Pac, Centipede, Red tent, Pleaids, Zero Hour Wall machine and i'm waiting on another classic cab to be delivered at my house. If i manage to get the paperboy i'll have room for 1 more cab.

@ Polderarcade: Check your pm's.
