[MISSED] Star Wars *upright*
« on: May 24, 2011, 05:43:20 PM »
I am angry today   I took a day off specially today. Why?
I should be on "road trip" in France today!!!

What happens?

OK, in short!!!

Last Friday, a member of gamoover pointed an ad regarding a Star Wars *upright*, and he has not given details of the seller on the forum.
I have been the lucky guy to react on this ad first  :P ...and so he sent me the seller's details.
He knew that the seller wanted ... 300€ for the cabinet.

Here's the only picture so far :

So when I contacted the seller, I said OK for 300€, where to pickup the game, more pictures please?

I got the reply, he said ... I've got 2 offers at 400€ ... do you follow?

I say that I need more pictures first, but basically I'll be ok...
The next day, I see he advertised the cabinet on the biggest site in France 'Le bon coin'...   :? you can imagine how many propositions he probably got

Anyway, he gave me his phone number Sunday evening (very late) and asked me if I'm still up for the cabinet! For sure.
So I called him yesterday morning. He both agree for the pickup this morning at 10h00am... Ok, let's take a day off for this new road trip to come  8) It's not too far from my place : less than 300km  8)
Ah yes, the game is partially working : he plugged it ... the monitor shows nothing but he can hear the sounds of the game! Wow  :P

...but got this mail yesterday evening !!!

Hello,
I regret to announce that my cousin with whom I restore the cabinet, asked me to give the cabinet.
As we work together, I can not refuse.
I apologize

I got now the information that cabinet has been sold to someone else :-X And of course, that guy (the seller) is absolutely not in the Arcade scene and do not have any interest in arcade games. He is probably just a lucky guy who found couple of games inside the grandpa warehouse and get them for free or almost...and now try to make money. He didn't have any idea about the price, but after so many phone calls following the public ad, he realized the 'potential' of that Star Wars upright.

Well, not a major problem here, but I hate people who do not take their word
I can understand the seller want as much money possible, but in that case, we both had an agreement (We spoke together the day before the road trip for the details... he was very kind...) and that guy cancel the transaction 12 hours before!

The positive things :

- I saved 400€ today
- I stayed with my daughter/wife all day at home  :-*

Now I curious to see who is the lucky owner of that cabinet  ::)

i'm sorry to hear that, bruno, but the cab's bottom back part seemed to be rotten (or water damaged), so i'd say: 400 euros saved and some quality time won!
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!
