ah... that is very handy!

planning permissions is always a pain in the backside, so i hope you can have everything resolved soon. i was lucky, i renovated my garage without the need to change the front of the house. from the outside it still looks like a garage and you would be non the wiser. you come inside the house and then you'll realise the garage has turned into living space = my games room!! i hope when i sell the house the buyer would keep it the way it is. no one parks their car in the tiny garages along our street... whenever i see my neighbours open their garage door, all i see is a load of junk!!  ::)

I agree... most of the time, I see a load of junk too ! They should do like us... put arcade games and enjoy the room  ::) ;D

OK, all the documents are ready... here's all the sheets

Once the administration will appoove the projet, a public inquiry will start  :?

Why is it so long.. why so many things to do...

Yes, I've informed them before starting this projet and they were all ok with that... but I don't want to have any problem in the futur, so I prefere to be 100% legal on this  8)

Good news : the complete documents has been approved by the administration. Now I've to display this in front of my house during to weeks :

This is the "public inquiry" step

So now, all my neighbours can see what is my project and they have two weeks to react  :-X More than that, they also got a letter from the administration who informs them about my projet... so they ALL know what I plan to do now...

Let's wait 2 weeks... I hope nobody will react on this  :P

Hey hey!!!  Glad to hear that you're gonna expand your lair!!!     :) :)  I hope everything goes well with your construction project!!! :) :)

I hope you have no complications from anyone!!!

One thing is for sure about the way we all collect......  Never enough room....!!!!! :? :? :? :? :? :?

But we always manage!!!  When we run out of room, the new adventure begins on expanding!!!

My wife and I have already figured out a way to expand on our gameroom when it's time, It will be not too hard to expand on it, since it is a metal

building, it will be easy to pour another concrete slab and just bolt on to the existing structure.

Organize a party around your gameroom for the neighbors with free BBQ and drinks.......You won't have any troubles after that ;) ;)

Funny about that way of informing people. Here, there's merely an add in the local paper....and you can get info at the "city hall"....I think your way is better, I never read those adds in the local paper :D

...

Yeah... It's a nice idea  :) ...but to late  ::) :P LOL

Ok... doing administrative papers is so boring  :? ... I'm still waiting for the result of the "public inquiry", but I need some action now  ;)

So, let's clean the area. Here's the starting point :

Still a mess isn't it  ??? Ok I've to remover the hedge, and a tree... Fortunately some shrubs are rotten, so I can pull them down without any problem

...but some of shrubs are bigger, and not easy to pull off  :-\ ...

...I don't have a chainsaw, so let's do the job with an axe :

Now, let's kill this tree :

Better no ?

...almost clean...

...and this is it  :P

You're more than welcome here, Musaic  :-*

GOOD NEWS :15 days later... no claim at all from the neighbourhood regarding then"public inquiry ;D

...but there is one last administrative constraint : Now, the town planning has to examine & validate the complete dossier I've done.

It can takes ...up to 5 five weeks before an answer from them  :o

It should be the LAST administrative step... I hope

Hey.. Looking good!!  ;D

I'm suprised you have to go through all that to do what you want on YOUR property!  :?

(it's a personal addition, not a commercial business etc.)

Honestly, we don't have to ask anyone when we do anything at our house.   (if it was commercial etc. then there would be trouble, but that is to be expected.)

Also I'd hate to have to wait to start my project... I hope you don't have any further roadblocks!!   Good luck, and I hope all goes well with your addition to your lair!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yep Sonic, that's the beauty of Belgium (don't know about the other european countries): a lot of paperwork even for some small details. Where I live if you want to relocate some walls inside your home (even without touching the outsidewalls of the house) you need to ask permission to do so  ???. In some areas of the village, you even have to ask permission to change the color of your windowframes or outsidewalls etc.  :ghost:. But ... I guess it doesn't matter where you live, every place has it downsides... !!
God must love crazy people, he made so many of them!!

... and 6 weeks later... I got a letter from the town planning :

Like a teenager who's waiting for the result of an exam... I slowly open the letter

For information, the town planning in Belgium has the final decision... Yes or No  :?

...it means 'Decision about your planning permission'...

And the answer is :

YES !!!  ;D

...after so many months, appointments, draws, ... this is it ! It's official  :)

Now let's start the serious work  8) :D

Thanks Matteo  :P

Ok, let's start the 'serious' work now  :D

The previous 'roof' has been removed, and we have to do the earth excavation :

Because the excavation won't be too deep, we do it... manually (no crane) :

A neighbor gets the earth with his tractor :

Well, it seems easy, but it's not... doing manually the job  :-\ ...tiring & tiresome...

Done :

This will be the 'concrete sole' of the room.
