I had the same with my two boards when i tried to swap the roms
but i did not have two exactly the same boards:

One is FCK-01 (blue) and the other FCK-00 (green) so that makes sence..
they probably have two different romsets..

are the two boards you have the same ?

Not sure level42
I think 1 and 2 are the color proms
Bec those 2 got difrent numbers then the other roms

On both boards rom 3 to 14 are all HN462532g
So those al look the same type.
the 1 and 2 on the picture are diffrent on both boards i think
on me original board that came with the cab
1 = MBM2716   8130 E05
2 = MBM2716   8139 E96

On the original board i bought
1 = HN462716G
2 = HN462716G

Also on the picture yo can see that they replaced the ram above prom 2
i read somewere that its better to replace both rams if 1 is broken
is it possible that the ram above prom 1 is broken now
i got a ram eror on that board

I have 3 different kinds of Ck pcbs, my original Falcon looks like this (the blue one)

It is marked FCK-01.
1=TMS 2516 JL MA 8009
2=TMS 2516 JL MA 8031

Board 1 is running but with some strange colors and some letters in screen and some parts missing

strange colors: There is a variant of CK that has a very strange colour palette, you might have one of those...

letters in screen/parts missing: have you tried adjusting (increasing) +5V?

Make sure that no socketed parts are loose.

was thinking about the other variants of CK too,but it says falcon in screen so the colors must be the same as the original i think.
about the 5v,i didnt checkt bec the other board did run fine so i asumed it was good
but now you mention

Quote
Those caps are only for filtering the +5v per section and the boards may very well run without them.
Still a good idea to replace them though.

so i think that the board is getting 5v but sinds some ceramic capacitor are missing or broken
i think they dont all get 5v so those all need replacement.
And i found more things that need fixing on that board

Wen desoldering the wires from the board some of the conection points came loose
but i also see a lot of bubbles or somthing in the tracks

And they tryd to fix some things

So this board need some work i think

The other board works perfect,it only has broken and missing caps.
So i gona solder new ones in there today.
That way i got 1 working board again,and i can go further on me cab ;)
About the original board it got a ram error so i think im just gona replace all the rams that on there.
but sinds i got a working board now i wil do that wen i got some more time in the future ;D
right time to desolder 50 ceramic capacitor and put some new ones in ;D

Those fixes look like factory mods to me, not uncommon.
THe bubbling is not special either I see that on loads of fine working boards.

The edge connector damage is another thing....a board that is sold as working shouldn't have that !

i assumed that too, but when i tested the two boards that i have i had a major voltage difference.
one board is just taking more current i think:

i think i gona do it the way as in the video etienne linkt
thnx for the input all
But the important thing is i got 1 working board now
So i can play so now and then ;D
If i got the new caps in,that board is 100% again.
i stil got some things to do on the cab so dont wana waist a lot of time on the boards now.
i already spent a lot of time on them.
And the weather is going worst and i stil need to spray some stuff.
better start on those boards on a cold winter day ;D
And if i got more time
Just took 34 caps out of the board,took all the solder out as much as i coud.
Burnt me hands on 3 places but they out ;D
and cleand it so i can put the new caps back in tommorow.
And play a bit ;D
Then back to the cab again.

Right time to take all the caps out

All caps out

Time to get some new caps in,they didnt got the same looking ones,but sinds it a boot board i didnt care
about the fancy bleu color ;D

53 caps later all caps in, time to solder them back in again.

After some time finaly all caps are in all looking good

Time to put the board in and start it up
 ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
The screen is a total mess,sound is a big mess
Scratching back of me head
wats going on ??? ???
I replaced all roms and proms from the other board,stil the same >:(
Wat to do now (scratching head again)
The board was working before i started so time to get evrything out again :(
After some time desoldering things again,time to see wat it does now
Screen is good exept from the moving parts they blocks,sound is back again also.
Wait i replaced al the roms and proms,so evrything out again and put the ones in that originaly belong there.
Start it up again and yess game plays nice again,and all caps are out ;D
I checkt evry chip that on the board to see how the 5v lines are
And they all on 5,2v at the begining of the board and 5,0v at the end of the board
so that looks good
Can it do any harm to leave it like this without the caps in ;D ??? ??
