don't think so! mine came originally with black buttons, but putting in a red and a blue one seemed to be the logical choice for me!

all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

thx for the nice comments guys, there's just one thing that's driving me mad

Let's see if those omron microswitches working.

i played ONEround of the game to see whether everything's working as planned - it was! turned the game off to clean up the room, turned it back on again, thumb switch button of the left controller is not working anymore >:(

F***!!!

those switches definitely need to be replaced! i don't want to have to open up the controller after every single game to replace / unsolder one of the omron switches (besides, i only have one working switch left). i need help / input from our australian vindicators restorer WOMBLE. you have offered to send me a batch of replacement switches, but it would also be good to know where to get them!

help!!! :) :-*

Truely superb, you dont fancy popping round and helping me out with mine do you?

Re the switches - you have mail :)

You find them by tracking down an old 1980s PC clone keyboard that used the same, or similar switches. The original Omrons used in these cabs are dreadful switches, they look nice and chunky but the actual contact point is about 1mm squared and its encased in plastic so you cant physically clean it. The ones I have here are buckling spring switches, they look very similar and fit perfectly.

sure, just send me an airline ticket and i'll be there within a day! 8)

what is an 1980s PC clone keyboard? how do i know if those switches are in there? anything particular i need to look for?

those replacement switches you're going to send me will hopefully solve the problem, it's just that you come across old pc keyboards all the time on flee markets for cheap - couldn't hurt to get one with those switches! are they also called omron switches then?

When working with IT, you get a lot of opportunities to take home hardware of varying age and value.

I myself try to hold back, but sometimes things are just to useful to just throw out. I need more space though :)

great etienne, simply great. i never received any switches from the australian guy and i fact have just written him an email right before reading your thread - what a coincidence! and what a great effort from your part. let's see if those switches are going to fit into the controllers ...
