Having actually played it BITD: do not leave anything out Bruno. The G3 must be G3, with all "bells and whistles". You don't want to see other machines' lights or other lighting from the corner of your eyes.
The feeling of being in the "theatre", totally "encapsulated" gives you a feeling of being inside the spaceship....believe me, every part has it's function. Even the sound would be wrong without side-panels or leaving other stuff away....

But I'm confident Bruno's plan is: as original as possible

Bruno, impressive job but... my advice is to take your time and with a lot of calm and patience remove all the rust and repaint the needed parts.
I understand you want to see your dream put together as soon as possible and you have to finish the theater before starting to arrange the other games in the room, but this is really the kind of work you personally do once in a lifetime. I don't think you will want to go back and fix rust problems later on.
Just my two cents. Anyway, all the best!

Great update, looking nice.

I actually met a guy from "Arcade Belgium" at the show in England this week. We discussed Brunos Galaxian3 restoration project. Anybody who is anything in the arcade game collecting circles knows about it, or at least has heard about it. I told him that when it's finished and ready, he should make a big article about it. It's one of those "once in a life time" things.

If only the guys who built the pyramids had documented their stuff as meticulously...
