A couple of months ago, I had the chance to visit the Japanese Arcade Museum, mentioned in the Galaxian Theater topic.
The owners of the museum were so kind to open the place specially for me and my girlfriend. So thanks again for the warm welcome!

The museum was kinda located in the middle of nowhere, but Ikke and Tom provided us with some detailed directions. So after a 2/3 hour trip we arrived at the museum:

take a look at the first 2 games we spotted right at the entrance, so beautiful!

and in great condition, I love the Galaxian, what a beautiful cabinet, someday i will own one

puckman is also looking very clean

again, great site art and great overall condition.

of course there were other great (namco) games

too bad some of them weren't working, love the sign though

This one seems to have a nintendo Control panel

Again, great side art.

a namco breakout

a non working pole position 2

Me playing space harrier, very cool cabinet and great game

girlfriend likes the game also

a sega time traveler, i like the effects but hate the gameplay

starblade! what a great game, a must have for sure

cobra commander? don't know the name of this one anymore

a train simulator, only in Japan!

panic park, fun game with strange controls

another weird game, a very nice man used it the half of the day to work out Grin

Steel gunner 2, a nice shooter

2 classic racers, got my ass whooped by some Japanese girl

a sort of dancing game, don't like this one

the building also has great site art

they also have a few candy cab's

darius, non working but still a must have

flight combat

the museum also owns a lot of cocktails

a lcd monitor is getting installed

After all those great games it's time for the main event

i bet bruno will commit a murder for this sign  Wink

let's take a look inside

they also have a few spare laser disc players

the pcb's

ceiling

some signs

this is what i call a control panel  Wink

So let's start this wonderful machine and play some games

at first we will play the game on easy

let's see if everything works

and here we go  Grin

After some time Ike and Tom were so kind to switch the boards so we could play the other mission

although the graphics from this original version aren't that great i still like it more then the other one.

What a great game! I really would like to play it again at bruno's place sometime.

So this was our visit to the museum. We had a splendid time. so thanks again Ike, Tom and everybody else!

WooT  Space Ace Space Ace

thanks very much for these great, great pictures. I love them  Space Ace

One day I will have a Puckman and a Japanese Galaxian also (please). I noticed that the breakout and one of the geebee's has a joystick, not original, but I'm sure the japanese are aware of that?

Was there much pollution there? I saw a Japanese with a mouth and nose cap?

You must have had a great time there. The Galaxian3 looks spectacular, I have to play it one day (never did).

Yes, they are aware of that, those machines still need to be fixed. The pollution in the city's was quite severe on hot days, the museum is located outside tokyo but still a lot of Japanese people wear those even if there isn't any pollution.
I guess it has something to do with being afraid of viruses like sars, don't really know for sure though.

thanks for sharing.

with regards to the surgical masks, it could mean that that person has an illness and they don't want to pass it onto you. people are polite like that.

The Namco Pole Position is very cool and rare! Did they have the other half?

I have one available if anyone is interested in rare Jap games?

Needs some restoration but has no wood rot or anything like that.

The museum is located near Shoubu Town. 2-3 hours away from Tokyo.

I don't know if they have the other half, i always thought it was an upright. I have also played the one you got in Tokyo, that one was in great/ mint condition. I'll post another report about that place (with some other classic games) when i got the time.

Thanks for the pictures! I like the Space Harrier sooooo much

Ah, and the train simulator is a "Densha de Go! 2", a very cool and addictive game (available also for PC and PS2, if i remember well)

Holy Jesus... this is it!  Kiss The pictures from the WORLD FAMOUS Japanese Arcade Museum ... a magical place that includes a rare Galaxian Theater up & running  Kiss
That's very cool to open the place especially for your visit... our Japanese friends here are great  Kiss In addition of the great games to see/play in the museum, you also have the chance to meet the best specialists of the Galaxian Beast Theater in the world... WOOOW  Tongue
Thanks for all these pictures, especially the ones around the Theater! Great you played both mission... but like you, my favorite one is the original one : project Dragoon.
Yes, I'm so jealous about all the Galaxian goodies over there  Shocked The best one is the Galaxian sign... I want one for the big opening of the V  Cool
Did you also see the Playstation custom adapter they made in order to play the exclusive PSone 'The Rising of Gourb' mission?

Regarding the other games in the place... you can feel the NAMCO influence all around do you? It's probably because a Namco headquarter is not too far, Am I right?
I hope you played Metal Hawk... a very rare game... never seen one for real  Tongue

Ok, I'll check back the pictures... and be back on this topic for sure Tongue

Thanks again for this post Gyruss  Kiss

For immediate release on homepage of course  arrow
