Arcade Lifestyle / Nintendo EVR Race
« on: November 16, 2016, 06:08:30 PM »
The same guy who has recently sold the Monkey Magic upright, is now offering a Nintendo EVR Race on Yahoo Japan. Seems he has quite a collection of rarities :)

For the historians:

EVR Race is a Nintendo developed and manufactured arcade video game released in 1975. Nintendo regards the game as the first title they ever released, omitting Laser Clay Shooting System whose inclusion could be argued. Genyo Takeda created the video game, which has led Shigeru Miyamoto to consider him Nintendo's first video game designer. EVR Race was extremely large and six players could participate. In the game, horses would race on the screen and the players were required to predict which horse would win. The game was extremely complicated, so after Nintendo released the game they had a hard time maintaining it and there were a lot of breakdowns. Due to their experience with EVR Race, Nintendo learned how difficult it was maintaining arcade games.

Cheers,

TOUCH ME .... great! I'm into this since, I think, 2001, but I've _never_ seen a "Touch me" for sale. I'd also take it anytime, so: great choice :)

I was wondering if anyone knew much about Apple Time, which as far as I can tell were an Italian manufacturer?

Apple Time is Austrian. In fact, they're still around, manufacturing sports betting terminals.

obscure cab "The Space Empire Strikes Back":

According to the MAME DB, it's a bootleg of "Uniwar S". Still cool, though.

Jukebox World has a selection of 120v ballasts, e.g. here:

They're not the cheapest option, but very reliable. Hope this helps!

PS.: If they don't ship to Italy, send a PM.

I have no idea about HOTD, but taking a quick look at the manual online, it cleary states in chapter 6.3 that the "Memory Test" (the RAM test you refer to) just does a quick RAM/ROM check. "111", I suppose, refers to the position of the memory IC in question on the PCB.

A gun that's working on and off does not sound like a RAM problem to me. Also, checking wires for continuity should be much easier than replacing ICs on a Model 2 board (I don't know you or your soldering skills, though ;) ). Anyway, go for the gun before messing up the PCB, i'd say.

That´s actually a nice looking cabinet!
Looks like someone looked at the early TAITO/TAITRONICS cabs :)

Wasn't LUNAR RESCUE released by TAITO? I guess this explains the similarities.

Technical Area / Re: Display marquees in your games area. The Ikea way

Bought these wall stickers at my local IKEA today for cheap .... seems they are catering to the arcade community atm :). I was originally there to buy a few of the MOSSLANDAs, but imho they are far too big / bulky to use them with regular marquees.

Same here, merry Xmas, dear DLF fellows. After changing jobs in September, I am slowly getting the grip on the arcade side of things again, so I guess 2016 will be a good year :)

See, as I _do_ finish stuff occasionally, I finally found the time to grab the (now working) chassis I recently got back from Winfried, reassemble everything, and play a proper game of PENGO (Sega, 1983, just as the cab itself, so a perfect match  ;D ).
