All those pictures from Wonder Egg III made me finally search for my own photos from my visit to the park. Unfortunately, it seems I didn't take too many pictures, or I've lost them long ago. I only found one of me in the WONDER EGG arcade, and, somewhat unrelated, one of me in front of the NEO GEO WORLD main entry (which, eventually, also closed down the year after my visit). Both photos taken in 2001 ... boy, I was young back then ...

I'll dig deeper tomorrow morning, though ;)

Gary Stern to the right? Natale Zaccaria to the left?

There is a general theory that Atari Europe (France) locally "licensed" some games from other manufacturers. The Galaxian platform had a lot of games on it, so if yours is converted we may not be able to determine what game it might have been. Interesting find!
Paul.

It wasn't converted. I dumped the original Roms before doing the single rom hack, and they contained a variety of the original Galaxian (without Namco or Midway copyright, but other than that, true to the original).

The PCB arrived last saturday so I popped it in the Asteroids and it didn't work.

Seller sold it as untested but did mention it was tested succesfully in 2013...

Didn't have time to have a long look, maybe there is a problem with a bad EPROM socket.

The extra PCB is WEIRD. I showed it to Jochen and he noticed there were two wires going to the main PCB for plus and minus and the thirst wire was a look going back to the small PCB again....so how can it even do anything !?!?!?

Strange but....I'm glad as it means I can safely remove it.

Oh my ... it was only now that I realized it was him that I bought my spare NAMCO Galaxian pcb from a few weeks ago.

Same story ... "untested, but was working when stored in 2013".

Upon arrival, it had a few parts missing, and is very far from being working (clock was dead, now, upon replacing the 74107 at 1D, it has a clock, but keeps watchdogging) .. oh my.

Sorry for not jumping in here earlier, the nickname didn't ring a bell right away.

Also....the hardware should support a real working RPM meter....but it's not used on the cocktail.

It does. I have it on my "Pro" Upright, and it's working perfectly.

There you go ;)

Except for being setup for DC right from the start, and missing the beforementioned buffer IC, it's an exact copy of the Namco/Miday boards.

I bought this on Ebay a few weeks ago, sold as "working". Upon arrival, it turned out it was missing RAMs (thus the 2701s), and someone has scrapped the sound section for spare parts  ::)

Thanks, Paul!

It seems i found the fault. While doing some online research, I stumbled upon this post on KLOV, describing my exact problem:

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/archive/index.php/t-187726.html

And indeed, I am using 2701 RAMs, as pullups are present on my PCB (and, coincidentally, it also is a bootleg / Atari license, not a Namco/Miday pcb). So I swapped out 1P-1S with 2700s, and removed the resistors - now the third enemy is back :)

Dear All,

Some of you may remember that I've been struggling with fixing one (in fact, two ;)) of my Galaxian PCBs over the last few months. I've now got one of them running almost perfectly, with one strange issue remaining:

Whenever a group of three ships attacks, the right Guardian is invisible while diving. However, it re-appears in any of these cases:

- the group misses my ship and returns to the top (see video)
- the left, visible Guardian is shot - then, even while still diving, the right Guardian suddenly becomes visible.

It's just invisible, other than that, it behaves normally, in that it fires bullets, and also can be shot, if you guess it's position.

This video should serve as a better explanation than my summary above, I suppose ;)

The sprite ram is good, as are the graphic eproms etc.

As always, any hints are highly appreciated!

Cheers,
Martin

NOVARMATIC or NOVOMATIC (the Austrian gambling company)? They licensed a lot of italian stuff, it seems - my Imola GP clone was done by them as well back in the days: https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=5804.0

They are still around, and in fact, they've become HUGE, but they do not give out any old documentation, I've tried numerous times.

As most games are clean and working ATM, I've taken an updated video today. Sorry, I obviously suck at handling the camera. The only machines powered off are CANYON BOMBER and the generic Sega Robot cab  - both of them have their chassis being serviced by german monitor whiz Winnie atm ;)

I'm looking for a Board Assy of my Monza GP's wheel.

..I think (I hope!) probably Monaco GP will be the same board I'm look for...

Thanks

Why would it be the same? From what I know, these games have nothing in common from a technical point of view. It's just the gameplay that's similar. As always, I may be wrong though ...
