Title: 1983 Cockpit Star Wars ^¨^
Post by: Hi on February 12, 2011, 04:02:20 PM
Hi,

Last year I picked up a great cab, here in Paris, one of those i did not think i can have because

- Just a few was selling
- ever too expensive
- Always on UK so more expensive to get it back
- not really the space

(Sorry for my english)

So my friend Atarimania call me one day last january 2010 and told me he found a SW cockpit, it is located in Paris not so far for me  ;D, (my 3 last cab was found in Paris too ) :P

For the history we already make a roadtrip to catch the Atarimania's SW Cockpit in Uk - You can see the report (in french) here http://www.gamoover.net/Forums/index.php?topic=11283.0

the cab was on ebay you could not bid it is only one announcement. We are both surprised it was still available 15 days after, we only knows that boards are missing, but the price is very very good, so we decided that this time the cabinet was for me  :D

Here is the pictures available before i bought it - no picture of the roadtrip because i made it alone.

only 3 hours after I have it on my park

At this time i decided to keep it safe on my cellar  not easy the wheels of the cab are down

Several week after, we decided to try to get it on my apartment but i am on  the 4th Floor, the lift is too small of course, so we try by the stairs >:(
Unfortunaltly the plan was not those and we was only 2 to do it 'Atarimania & me' and I was hurt at the left hand, that why the cockpit returned on the cellar.

a lot of work on the cockpit, as usual i want to restore it by using original item if it is possible.

the monitor is the amplifone 25" one, and all boards are missing

- Audio Regulator II Power Supply Board
- Amplifone Deflection Board
- Amplifone High Voltage Board
- 3 Pcb kit with the cage.

Yeah, the SW cockpit is really a holy grail. I'm glad that you could lay your heads on one, although you will still have to make some effort to get it to work, with all the missing electronics and such. But hey, that's part of the hobby, isn't it?  :)

Are you also planning to redo the artwork on the sides?

yes it's really a part of the hobby,  ;D no problem with that, and it a sw cockpit

yes i'm waiting for the artwork to replace it, I hope it will be available soon

Last week i make an order for the t-molding (Ramcontrol)  crossing the fingers  >:( because no other choice

No communication as we know, but it seems to be on delivery

no light, no space (two other cabinet) and no power on my cellar, i really can do nothing, that why i must get it back on my apartment

The cab need wood repair, no picture of course  i must use bondo or replace some of part if it necessary, I don't know yet.

As we know they were orginally covered in vinyl and not painted, I ordered black vinyl to do that.

rich from TOG is working on producing the artwork, as he told me August last year. I just did send him an e-mail asking for an update. I also hope that it will available soon.

Ramcontrols?    forget it, Dave is history, too bad, but reality.

It's not what we want (although I still think good riddance, the crook), but what he wants himself. Appearantly he is now trying to get rid of the Ramcontrols stock and wants to leave the scene: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=162144&page=32

Thanks but 720 and Dedicated Havoc's were the only one's to use the 2" base molding.
For the SW it's Wide 1.5" t-molding isn't it ?

At this point i need an AR II board but especially one other board is missing the EMI Shield PCB (A040258-1) not the interconnect Pcb I have it.
(http://img2.uplood.fr/free/thumbnails/lnl7_tm-225_55.jpg) (http://uplood.fr/visu.php?url=http://img2.uplood.fr/free/lnl7_tm-225_55.jpg)
Let's begin the wood restoration.

I can work on the back door, the good point is that i have the original back door I think, not the key of course.
not so bad  :) in the fist view

Yes the 720/Major-Havoc is WAY too wide (2.25") for the SW cockpit (1.5"). It's also the "wrong" pattern on the ribs.
So that's not an option. The only option is Dave.

I seem to be one of the lucky fellows who have never been let down by David, although I did had to send some reminders a couple of times.
I hope you are lucky too....his stuff is amazing, and there are no alternatives.

It's time for the wood treatment  :ghost:
but outside of course

two coats after one hour
(https://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2018/09/4/1519891364-dsc-0257.jpg)

I decided to go to the basement & get back other metal parts.
First, attraction panel retainer so here is the decal/artwork of attraction Panel

it is the Glass one

very difficult to remove it, because the cellar was empty

then i can not prevent to see the wood part below..
https://www.google.fr/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&ved=0ahUKEwiLx7O21crZAhWD0RQKHQSvAqYQjBAINzAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dragonslairfans.com%2Fsmfor%2Findex.php&usg=AOvVaw1TkfE5kuO3awxuNp7x5Nmy
Probably (I hope) the worth of the cab
(reverse it to imagine on the cockpit)

Wow......my SW cockpit has been spoilt compared to this !!!

Looks like it spent some good time outside or in the dungeons of a French castle !

BUT you have the AMPLIFONE CRT, the AMPLIFONE deflection board and the AMPLIFONE HV-board !!! That's the only way to experience SW ;)

And......just think how much the difference will be when you cleaned her up !!

That T-molding has been RAPED ! ;)

Be VERY VERY carefull when having the machine open with the tube exposed like that. I am always scared like shit that I hit the neck with something.....which would mean GAME OVER for the Amplifone....

yes I was wondering what they have done with it !

I think exactly the same when I remove the wood part on the top, be careful this is the most important part.

Cleaning cleaning I have not even started yet  :-\

That AR-2 is the right one :)

Looks like it's missing a capacitor but I'd cap-kit it anyway...

Good  :D

I saw the missing capacitor, the board was tagged 1979 maybe for Atari video Pinball ?

The top window after wash.

I looked for a grooved carpet to replace mine, which is red and awful

I found one here in France but not near me
delivery is of course possible but 24 € for it (36 € TTC for one meter)

Width : 120 cm
Thickness : 6 mm

I think it's the best similar I can found

What do you think about ?

and the two floor cover, very difficult to remove them.

ok, dimensions of the piece needed please, and if you can indicate which way the stripes run, from side to side in the cab or front to back of the cab, obviously this will say if the pieces i have are appropriate. surely i can send it for less than €60  i will start researching. do not buy this until i can see if i can help.
i can get this stuff free, not stolen i promise, but it may involve a wait if the piece i have is the wrong size.

I guess you mean the metal strips or "steps" ?

Well......I still am not 100% sure about that. I've had mine powdercoated and it looks sweet.
However, I've also seen a lot of "blank" strips.

Anyway, the Irish strips are much nicer than the US one's. Dave from Ram controls completely analyzed mine to repro them.

i had such a lucky coincidence today, i went to visit a friend in cardiff and didnt realise the other friend who is going to paris was working on the same show, of course, i didnt have the rubber with me >:(
fortunately my friend had a roll of about 10M with him so he said he would save you a fresh piece from that, i think the one i have is not large enough anyway.
Hi, do you have a mobile number i could text message, it will be useful for us to be in direct contact so i can contact you on the day to go to meet my friend, his days in work are not structured so it will be hard to arrange an exact time in advance, but as i say, he will at least be there late into the evening working on the show.
the rubber looks like an exact match too, better than the stuff you originally sourced. my friend you will meet has a cocktail cabinet, so by coincidence he understands what we are doing.

always Looking for hammered black paint, i don't know why we could not find    RUST-OLEUM here in France, and I don 't manage to buy it by the web to (Forbidden shipping by amazon for example ?)

I found one other 'Julien' really Black and not 'Anthracite' in French (it means dark grey) but only in specific shop.

It's the Hammerite one on Spray.

edit : Just remove the only fan on the cab, for the 3 boards only, no fan on the cab for the HV board . :-\

and I saw more connectors missing (2 others), ie more cable cut probably to connect the ARII , not sure of course.

(it is not difficult to unplug cheat    )

After cleaning, sanding the grill and before paint

You going to paint the fan ??

Indeed there is only one fan factory built into the cockpit. Make sure the airflow is UPWARD (note the markings on the fan) when you install it back, mine was upside down (not much use, drawing hot air down.....)

An extra 230v/110V fan pointed over the HV and deflection board is an absolute necessity IMHO !!

Here's the picture:

The pins are (looking from behind and left to right):

Brown
Yellow
Blue
key (Empty)
Red

Thanks you for your answer and the pins of the fist connector.

yesterday early morning little clean for the cab but only inside.

As you know no power on the basement/cellar.

look at the water...  ;)
then sanding..

Inside the cash box I uses that I decapant in french (?) very rusty inside but on the top too, I uses 2 sort of "brush".
A lot of time to have a good result.

and to remove the glue on the control panel finally 'décapant' too.

There are still 2 or 3 items to sand like the one on the seat, but I don't remove it yet.

another one.

The upfront I guess ?

That's J103.

Didn't you download the Amplifone manual yet ?

Here you go:

Read.

Than read it again.

Then sleep one night.

And read it again.

Learn it by heart ;)

Serious: lot's of great info including all the wire colors for the connectors you can ever dream of for the monitor.

In case you're looking for the game manual it's also in these archives:

i didn't realise the day was upon us. what time do you finish work today (tuesday the 1st) i need to co ordinate a good time for you to go to the casino de paris, my friend will be there all day, but i guess you will be in work too , while the band is onstage is not a good time, just before they go onstage is not the best time either. i will try to see what time they are onstage and see if my friend has an idea of how his day/evening will be.
prepare for things to change as his priority must be any emergency in work, if they happen, but between us we will work it out. ;)

I insist and request to call the guy I want to meet and finally one of them told me that he think know him but not sure.

And 2 minutes after i saw someone arrive with the precious rubber :!: :!:

It's time for the CPO

put on the right position it is not so easy an you do not have many possibility.

Unfortunaltly i managed to replace it one time and finally not really possible, so it's not perfect (the green part)
no other choice   don't think about that.

Then cutting wood for parts too damaged.

Hey Hi,

What is the status of your Amplifone and AR-2 boards ?

I'm going to do a run of repairs/bullet-proofing Amplifone deflection and HV boards and an AR-2 board. In case needed I could do yours as well while I'm busy with them anyway.

Just let me know if it's needed/wanted.

I bought these:

to put behind the grills and these:

to mount the grills.

The first things, you screw in the wood with a hex driver. Then you have a "regular" "bolt" for the button screw.

Bought these here:
http://www.modelfixings.co.uk

Haven't installed them yet though....hope it works out great !
Title: Re: 1983 Cockpit Star Wars ^¨^
Post by: level42 on April 18, 2011, 10:24:31 PM
I just re-installed the speaker grills and the stuff about works GREAT !

The _really_ important thing is that _ANY_ metal left of the former rivets has to be _completely_ removed from the holes !!!
Use a drill of "just" the right size to do this. If any metal is left, you're NOT going to be able to screw in the "bolts".

If the holes are nice and clean, screwing them in is a piece of cake. I screwed them so far that they are a little bit below the surface. This way the grills will be completely flat.
The bolts I choose work perfectly, look great (black), not too big of a "button" on top and IMHO looks as good as original.

Will upload some pics later...
Title: Re: 1983 Cockpit Star Wars ^¨^
Post by: level42 on April 18, 2011, 11:19:40 PM
The key to success in using this solution is that _ANY_ metal rests of the former rivets MUST be removed. I drilled them out. IF YOU OWN A SW COCKPIT REMOVE THE MARQUEE BEFORE DOING THIS, ELSE YOU MAY DAMAGE IT WHEN DRILLING THE HOLES OF THE SEAT SPEAKERS !

Start, you can see some of the metal "leftovers":

Once drilled out/removed the metal, you simply screw in the "inserts" with a hex-tool. Be sure to buy the inserts types without the "edge" so you can screw them in far enough to make the "sink" under the surface a little bit, so that the grill will sit flush.

e sure to screw in the inserts as STRAIGHT as possible so the bolts will go in straight too

Replace the grill and inserted the bolts:

Done:

One hole was a bit too big after I removed the metal (first try). So for this hole I took a plug instead. Make sure the "head" is sunk so the grill will wit flush. I was very lucky as the hole was "exactly" tight enough for the bolt.

I did not expect to recover the original appearance, I mean, I don't think I succeeded, it is not a painting but a treatment of metal but I may be wrong  ???

I have good news, and I have bad news !

The good news: I found the left-over black (pica) vinyl.
The bad news: The left over pieces are too small !!! :(

Now I'm going to have to buy some more. Bought this through Suzo but they don't have a "take away" counter anymore so it's harder to order now for me...or at least more expensive.
The stuff is very expensive too from them...I am currently looking at alternatives....with some help here and there, stay tuned....

3 weeks ago I decided to get back to work  ;D

Some minor repairs to rotten piece of wood, but essentially the cardboard bezel around the screen.

I check the status of the original one - Not really good.

whatever the work on it, the result will not match..

I keep it , and I will try to build one, this should not be worse than this one

A little brainstorming to find the best way to do it.

I find sheets of paper 240 g black satin, but not big enough, we will do with.

I stick another piece of paper thicker cardboard (240 g) behind.

Then I tried several methods, spray paint ;

Pathetic  :ghost:

Paint roller, paint does not stick at all

Then I realized it had to glue the silver strips.

At first I thought the aluminum roll of plumber

the result was not good either.

and what about Silver vinyl of course ! best solution for me I think.

So today.

Much better than painting and really good Color/effect.

Half of the cardboard done !

Small but important. One of those details that simply "make" it perfect. The reflection of the picture in the bezel is something you wont know about if its missing but you will miss once it's gone ;)

Dismantling of this magnificent monitor -  the amplifone 25 ". Not already done because of no time for improvisation with a screen this size.

The cellar is full I currently have 4 cab in (including SW cockpit)
now it's done - thanks Atarimania  :P I take care of it as you can see.

a little long but we need to be patient with our hobby  ;)

So the first step  - out of the cellar and go through the garage.
we need to be at least two.

then exit through the ramp as cars and go (20 m) through the main door to access the stairs.

not enough space ?

The last time we had stopped there...

this time...

2nd Floor

You know......in some strange way I wished my SW had totally missing/completely damaged side art like yours, so that I wouldn't have to think twice about ordering that side art.

I think the side art on mine is still in pretty good condition, even though there are some obvious scrapes and scuffs. lets say its in a 75% condition. That, plus the color difference between the US and Irish side art makes me lean to not getting it. However, talking about the color, those preview pictures look to me like they are actually more colored like the Irish than the US. I have seen the US version cockpits a couple of times (Barcade, Luc), and IMHO the blue is deeper than that on those. But it's just a preview so you never know.

I would love to a real sample of one of the small pieces....

I have not in fact the same problem  ;D but it is clear for me that your cockpit does not require the replacement of the sides and for mine the pictures do not show the reality it is worse ! and with all rebuilt parts and the canopy perspex i have no choice  :P

Oh wow, you completely emerged the harness in water ? I never do this because I am afraid that water remains in/ near the pins in the connectors and start corrosion.
I always use paper towel and a spray cleaner like Glassex, spray on the towel and then go around the entire length of the wires. A lot more work but safer I think.

..or are you going to replace the pins in the connectors ?

That SW cockpit of yours has has a hard life, awesome to see it come back to glory step by step........

no, not replacement of connectors, but I immediately dried all harness after that .Logically no problem.

Step by step yes, I must work on the basis of the cockpit as soon as possible (rotten wood) ...

Indeed there is only one fan factory built into the cockpit. Make sure the airflow is UPWARD (note the markings on the fan) when you install it back, mine was upside down (not much use, drawing hot air down.....)

After installing the fan I was surprised  :o
Mine was therefore mounted upside down too ! :ghost:

Check the manual, the wire colors will tell you..sorry don't have time to have a look right now and not tomorrow either...once you have the correct ones mark both the identical sized connectors on the harness and PCB so you can't make a mistake ever in the future....

That SW cockpit of yours has has a hard life, awesome to see it come back to glory step by step........

For years I' ve been using a lot of water. I use soap and decreaser to clean the harness then use a lot of really hot water to get rid of all the dirt, soap, chemicals. A bathtub with running hot water is best. Then directly after the water a submerge the whole harness in spiritus (rubbing alcohol). I use a big curverbox with a lit for that. The Spiritus absorbs the water. Just submerge it and take it out, don't leave it in. Then take it out and use a blowdryer to quickly remove the spiritus. Do the last part outside so that you don't inhale the fumes. I also use it for pcb's ...... So far I did not use it on transformers, coils and electric engines because I fear that the laquer used in isolation the windings may disolve in spiritus.... Have to test that one day.

yes still naked :) but not totally so about that, did you find time to check the Deflection Board & HV board ?

For now I am waiting to receive the sides from Rich before installing the screen for example.

Restoring wood yes  :D when I can or when it is possible, so not everytime. Maybe more expensive and take longer to repair rather than replace.
Today, a bit of painting.

Before too lazy to remove the rivets  :-\

Why did they "cut" this cab!!!!!!  :o :o :o ??? ???

Maybe you can keep it as it! We already have mini-upright cabs (cabaret), you can introduce a new style: "cockpit cabaret"  ;D

Ouch! From whom did you get that cockpit by the way? I mean for an operator or someone else?
I can see only two reasons : cut to fit a special location, or cut to hide 'damaged' edges...  :ghost:
Fortunately it can be fixed, but it adds additional work you didn't need at this point  :-\
Good job and don't give up!

This is confirmed.

Black Vinyl (Oracal 651) is not strong enough at least to the seat - the horizontal part  - because the other part is black FORMICA.

I have to find another supplier I'll let you know if what I think works.

Hi HI!

When i assembled mine, i noticed that there where some glue on the pieces where they joined on the finished cockpit....

There´s some glue in between the 1st and the 2nd piece (where the arches meet the base so to speak.. (the arches is made of 3 pieces of MDF, an inner, middle and the outer one which in theres cut holes for the artwork)) the screws are just there to be sure it didnt move.

Also here between the canopy "beam" and the piece coming up.

I would use a crowbar (!) and gently!!

I also received a few days ago the new marquee from TOD, I'm a little disappointed I wonder how it is possible to pass these defects on the A letter ....

On location with the light

I still have to redo the sides (remember hey were cut by the previous owner) I need  19mm MDF and I expect the art from TOD to have the fully correct size. and so sanding ans dust of course and but the biggest is behind me I think  ::)

edit : replacing broken links again

Well....

Have to disappoint you my friend. You and Atarimania and Belike...

I have been working on their boards on and off, but things don't improve a lot....I really have a fish with the WG6100s....

Working on my knees, right next to the SW cockpit is just not working out either....not having a working 6100 to compare to is also a big problem.

This has been on my chest for a long time I know but I may be better if others would have a look at the WG6100 stuff.....sorry guys !

I can work on Amplifone stuff though. It's like "home" for me compared to the WG6100....

So guys, please let me know what you want me to do, bring your WG6100 stuff to RGE or postpone until I have a decent workplace...

Hello

this project is not over even if the link are.

Waiting for sidearts from Tod of course, the force is not (enough) strong with him, more than 4 years..

When i have time i still working on it.

The news :

I test last year the PCB on an upright SW and we have picture and the game is working.
We have a sound issue, but not a problem at the moment.

This year, I add the missing part so the cockpit is now complete, a really cockpit not a cabaret  ;D

Here is the status :

And the work for missing part.

Wow, you still are around !

I still have parts from you here......and to be totally honest.....I'm not going to fix them. I have no time/drive to work on my own stuff, let alone on that of others.
I'm really sorry about that but it's better to be clear and honest about it then to keep delaying.....

I'd like to send back your parts if possible, let me know how we can work that out in PM.

Cheers, André.

Hello,

Here is the news -
the bad one.

TOG alias Rich alias the ASSHOLE cancel my 6 years order in december 2017 and by the way two others, he reimburse me, a 6 month order supposed to be shipping next week of course and 4 months for the last.

if you've ever had anything to do with him you know that guy is totally unprofessional, he's lying all the time I've never seen that in my life, and how to explain it took more than 6 years for those arts every month & every years he told to us next month : shame ! shame ! shame !
cheescake, international orders like me was not fullfill 2 months after shipping for the US orders.
At this time i know only one guy in uk among 10 - 9 because as i already said he cancel my order.

The best, he try to scam me 3 month before saying he has already reimburse me, and the order was cancel be me two years before.

if you are skeptical, take a seat and read the folowing.

He sell the art on ebay, I need the art, so I asked a friend to buy one for me, shipping in USA.
Using BIN on ebay, the order was fulfill the next day !! this is the good news

So it means he have stock and the only explanation for me, he don't want to ship international order because of the free shipping he offer after 5 years waiting, and only try to save time and make the international prepaid order canceled. one word ASSHOLE !!

TOG sells the same cockpit art on US eBay as a buynow and ships within a few days.

So the OP got someone he knows from the US to buy it on his behalf :)

Glad you were finally able to get the art and continue your restore.
You do leave out a few things though.
The biggest for why your order was canceled.

YES this project took longer then expected, obviously. There are too many reasons to list in just a single post.
But there is just no pleasing some.
Your order was canceled, yes. You were fully refunded. when the product was in hand and ready to ship
ALL previous cancel/refunded orders were contacted and given a coupon code to reduce the price which couldve in turn by used to cover shipping
There were about 10 or so orders that this was done for. yours included.
This was done so no one was out money while waiting for the project to finish.
This was also probably the biggest, most expensive arcade art project ever done.
which included ALL art pieces for the cockpit not just the sides.

Sorry you feel this way but again just trying to make everyone happy and if that meant refunding some them until the project was complete
and that makes me an asshole so be it.
Like I said glad to see your able to fully restore your cockpit
Look forward to seeing more of your progress and may the force be with you

Totally agree with you Hi, TOG is extremely unprofessional and horrible to deal with. Seldom answers mails, promises to have the order/shipping ready all the time but doesn't follow through etc. etc.

The end result is always great, no mistake about it. But if you buy from them, you have to expect that it will take several months and that you don't get any answers when trying to contact them (and if you get answer, don't expect them to follow through). That's kinda the deal you have to make when ordering something from them, whether you're aware of it or not. Imho.

But it's great to see that you're so determined  :D This hobby is ridiculously expensive for us in Europe compared to in the states so you must be stubborn and not afraid of expenses :)

I think it is drastic to call someone an asshole.

I bought three time from TOG and there was never an issue. When I bought my Journey and I asked TOG if they could send the new Journey artwork to COW within the next 2 weeks so it could be shipped with the container stuff, he obviously did a good job to get the artwork printed and shipped to COW. So I have to disagree that everything TOG does is unprofessional and bad.

Things can go wrong, of course, for different reasons. I don't know the whole story but IMHO it's better when someone cancels orders and refunds the money instead of keeping it for even more time (or forever, like it happened with the Star Wars Projekt at RAM Controls).

Did you (Hi) get such an email with a coupon code?

thank you all for your message.

No not drastic and I think it is Under the reality, it is unbeliveable to act like this with a customer, it's too easy to write a message to show compassion while it is not,
And I received nothing from TOG (coupon or nothing else)

Here is the status today before applying the sideart I hope before the end of this week.

yes not easy to find one as I said at the beginning of this thread.

On Saturday with my friend Atarimania, It took 3 hours.

It is not perfect, difficult to perfectly center the side, but the result is great I think, I am not able to say how many hours i spend on this machine, but i am sure a lot.

After installing the t-molding

So I can really say  : I save it !!  :D  :spaceace:

Time now to install everything else on the cockpit, monitor, PCb's etc.

Before I check the pictures I made in 2010 to install the monitor, and do the same, but it is not correct so i must flip it.

When I power on the first time i only have one basic dot on the center of the monitor, the PCB's game weren't powered properly.

After checking all voltage and little work on the power brick I finally have the PCB's game running.

Here is the status of the voltage on the J5 connector, game PCB's not plugged but everything else yes

I have this

Red lead to pins 1, 2, 3
Black lead to pins 4, 5
17 vdc unregulated so it is ok

Red lead to pin 6
42 v instead 36 a little high but it is without plug the pcb boards

Red lead to pin 8
Black lead to pin 9
I have 15 v instead of 6.3 vac

Red lead to pin 10
Black lead to Pin 14
5.15 v instead of 80vac I have no pin in 14 position.

Red lead to pin 11
Black lead to pin 13
28 v instead of 65vac

No sound, for that I test 2 years ago my PCB's on an upright cabinet, all seems working but without sound so it is not a surprise, this time I have the demo scene I think on a vertical line.

But before that, let's see if the huge work on the hand made bezel is well done.

Things done :
Rewire J105, and verify a lot of soldering, J103 for example.
but after that I only decide to move pot  R79 & R76 for X and Y size.

But after shut down and power on another time to verify the test mode another half picture but horizontal this time.

Edit it's ok now explanation was bad soldering on Q5.

happy with that yes, but it is not over, I must fix the sound and before find the issue with the green. no real change with the pot.

Little update :

After a lot of work on the HV board, still nothing, so I decided to send it to someone who could find the issue and repair it.

The result is beautiful, better than a new one really awesome :spaceace:

Before

After it worth every $

In the meantime I installed a fan in the cockpit.

And try to fix the sound issue too find a tms5220 - speech synthesizer used in a few atari games  - with some broken leg but still no sound after socketed and replace, I do the same with the TL084"s on the pcb board. not better some popping sound sometimes it depends how was the pcb in the interconnect board.

So after power on still on color missing

Unable to find the settings with the pot to have all the colors without seeing vectors

At this point after all this time, I thought I had a issue on one gun on the Amplione, the green, and the only last solution was to try to rejuvinate it.

Before I check all that I could. continuity, bad contact on main harness betwween the PCB and the deflection board and I went to Atariland to test my game Pcb in another Cab.. the PCB is working fine.
Still One color missing, by why me !!!!!

Last week I decided to do another test, I was advised to try is to modify the deflection board.

The purpuse is to swap two of the color signals. swap the red and green going to the tube, and if i don"t have green on the tube, the conclusion is there this is the tube.

So I must to lift the left sides of R67 and R68 and cross them

And ....

GREEN ::::: :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:

Of course colors are not so accurate I do not touch the pot, I touch nothing to tell the truth.

So very good news finally it is not the tube, but I don"t know why and i am afraid of touch anything now.

New step yesterday, swapping back R68 & R68 and crossing finger to have all colors.

now I adjust the green pot.

Better now

I need to fix the top of my home made bezel and adjust the picture on the screen (X size) but the end is near !!!  :spaceace:

Still sound issue of course.
