Wolfmame .106 missing sounds
« on: June 30, 2009, 04:28:10 PM »
Maybe you guys here know this:

I downloaded the official version from Twingalaxies http://www.twingalaxies.com/index.aspx?c=48&id=39

but when i play donkey kong with it (us set 1, jap set 1 or dk jr, no difference), i miss some sounds, with the same settings in the latest version from http://wolfmame.marpirc.net/ it just plays fine

also in regular mame32 the roms work fine

am i doing something wrong ??

Well, I didn't really check but I would say Donkey Kong requires sample files in the 'sample' directory of your mame installation?

i am using the same rome file in both versions but they sound different:

mameui32 .126 sounds like this
this is how it should sound in my opinion.

wolfmame .106 sounds like this
this starts already with the "donkey kong smile" sample  ???  and misses the walking sounds

in both versions the sample directories are empty

for me its ok, but i was just wondering if i do something wrong, and in the event i have a nice score, and i want to submit it to TG, will they accept it even some sounds are missing ?

I played some time with the missing sounds, and it annoyed me more and more everytime.

Lets be honest, playing DK without walking sounds is not what i want.

After some investigation it turns out that it depends on the version of MAME.

As of MAME 0.116, the Donkey Kong sample set is no longer required and thus I've moved it to the 'Older Samples' page :) ~Twisty~

It makes sence , i think wolfmame is based on .106 of MAME , and so you need the samples.

So i downloaded the samples like DarthNuno suggested and now i have walking sounds  ;D ;D ;D

Now i can play again with the sounds  8)

I wouldn't be able to play it without the sounds... it's a part of the 'magic' of this game  ::)

Regarding the sound, I play very ofter CRAZY KONG... because it's the version I played back in the day... I'm sure of that... I always remember the 'scream' of Jumpman... when he jump  :)  "Yihew!"
