Conrad is insanely more expensive than RS. I never use Conrad anymore since I had ordered my 3 mains-switch boxes there and the delivery KEPT beeing postponed again and again and again...

RS is LIGHTNING fast and indeed no shipping costs as long as you order online. You do need a chamber of commerce number to register though....

That joystick spring actually looks much like a button spring. Maybe you can use one from a button, but I can imagine that a buttons spring is too weak for the joystick.

Yes, the button spring is alot weaker

the joystick spring is 1,25 mm steel, and the button is 1 mm
the length of the spring for the joystick is 20mm and the button is 15 mm
the outer diameter of the joystick spring is 12,5 mm, and the inner is 10mm in diameter
for the buttons thats outer 15mm, and inner 13mm so that wont work

also i have 3 buttons, with only one spring intact and thatone is very rusty, so i think thats broken soon too
i want to replace all the springs  

anyway, i don't have a chamber of commerce number, can you order some for me if i don't find local resources ?

I was in my customer today, and i found a old PC there.
I thought "hey, that button feels like it has a spring inside..  "




And i was correct !, there was  




After digging up 3 of the same pc's, i removed the springs and found that the pc switches also work without the spring.
They look simular to the original as far as i remember..
You guys are comming home with me!




After i came home, i compared them with the original...
Identical in size, that should work !




Time to take the buttonparts out of the jacuzzi.
this is the residue of 2 days and nights in the tub  




After some "after cleaning" with a toothbrush and a sponge, they are ready for assembly again
 



Dont forget to lube it up !

Perfect, they feel super smooth again !




Oke, now for the joystick..
I went to the hardwarestore after work, and luckily they had some spring simular.
They where super expensive... NOT!  hahah, 0,43 eurocents!




The measurements are just a bit off to the original..
the diameter of the wire is 1,5mm instead of 1,25mm
the outer diameter is 12mm instead of 12,5mm
the inner diameter is 9 mm instead of 10mm
and as you can see its way too long  
Lets fix that last problem...




Now i have a spare in case this breaks too someday  




After some bending and shaping the length is correct compared to the original..




hmm they look almost the same, lets try it out ..




After cleaning the joystick parts they are ready for assembly..
And again, don't forget lube  




Base complete, it moves like i expected!, nice and firm.
Also it returns perfect to "neutral position" wich was the problem to begin with..
With the nut in the bottom i can ajust the tention on the spring, for now i think this is ok.




After that i bended the leafswithes (where nessesary) to a good working condition and screw them in place



Thats it for today, i will put it in the wooden panel when i painted that and got me some plexi
after i recreate the CPO i need to see if i just stick that on top of the plexi, or under, or even "sandwich" that between two layers of plexi
dont know yet what to do with that..

I doubt it is necessary to lube buttons etc. In fact I think it's a bad idea. I once got a control panel where someone did exactly this. With the result that dust and dirt got stuck to the parts and the buttons basically stopped working.

that's what i've been thinking as well, but forgot to mention. normally the manual clearly states which parts to lube and which ones to better leave alone. and from what i can tell, you're using oil, right?

I've never lubed buttons so far. Esp. the "well worn in" one's don't seem to need it. (I think they were never meant to be lubed). The newer one's sometimes feel like they could use a little, but that's probably because they haven't "worn in" enough yet.

I would surely not use oil. If anything, I'd use silicon spray.

Its a special lube that i have from the time that i was working in copy machines.
Its on silicon base:



The tool looks like an oil dispenser, but thats just to work more precisely  

We used this to lube the synthetic bearings (not the ball bearings)
like this:



Youre right about attracking dirt, but there is enough space between the hole and the plunger, so i think it will be fine
and also its not in a public place so the dirt enviroment is less

After Ronald Reagan posted the link to a zaccaria cab on marktplaats:




I contacted the seller and asked him if there where still original parts in this cab.
I told him in the mail that i was not interrested in the complete cab, just some original parts if they existed..

The guy was very nice and told me that he did not think this cab is something for me, but if i wanted, i could come over to check it out.

So we made an appointment, and i went over there to take a look at the cab.  

I was hoping that there was the powersupply still inside and things like that.
Also i was reading in the manual and found out that there is a protective cover missing in my cab for the controlpanel.
its a plastic cover that protects the leafswitches; number 13 in the parts manual...

In Italian; "Scatola Protezione pacchi lamellari"  





Anyway, the seller was right, it was not for me, no offence ofcourse to the seller, but as far as original parts it was totally empty..  as stated in the add he put on marktplaats.
i was hoping for a cover, or other usable original parts but there was nothing inside, even no coinmechs etc. ect.
only a "blank" coindoor was installed.

so a little dissapointed i returned to home, and on the way i was thinking, that my coindoor has a part that have a crack..  




The coindoor from the marktplaats-guy did not have any parts inside, but this cover was still there.
a little damaged as far as i remember, but no cracks..
So a few days later i contacted the seller again and asked him if it was ok that i come again to compare the pieces to see if this was more nice than the piece with the crack that i have, and he was so kind to offer me to exchange this part if i find that his part was more nice than mine  

I will go there tomorow to check it out and compare them..

After that appointment i went to the machine to remove the coindoor and get the exchangeable parts out of the coindoor.
When i was removing the bolts that keep the door in place i dropped one into the bottem of the cab..  
as anal as i am, i want to have this bolts with the parts of the coindoor so i decided that it was time to enter in the monkey cage again..  

i was trying to find the bolt that i dropped in the bottom of the cab, and in one moment i feel some piece of paper, some old coins , and something plastic....  

What a nice surprise !, under the powersupply area there was the CP cover that i saw in the manual!      





Very dirty from spending ages under in the monkey cage..








After i washed all the dust and dirt from the cover, it looks alot better..




I tried it on location, and i could still see the holes from the screws that was there  




After i returned with the coindoor i prepared it for restauration..
not really needed, because everything looks still very good after 30 years  




After removing the electronic parts..




and here all the metal parts dissasembled..




Thanx to Bela   (who scanned the scramble manual for me) i think i will be able to put everything back together again  




And here are the parts that i will bring tomorow, and see what i can work out with the marktplaats-guy

Those coin door price inserts are the same ones that are used in Williams pinball machines, so not difficult to find, there are even repros with "free play" on them.

I think I still have a DM one here somewhere.
