Somebody kick my ass....
« on: March 19, 2010, 09:51:17 PM »
I've been planning on installing Erik's LV2000 on his WG6100 for three nights now but "ik heb er de kracht niet meer voor" (=I don't have the strength anymore, a famous quote around here lately, you gotta be Dutch to understand).
Don't know what it is but I've been pretty low on "energy" it seems the last week. Could it be a _very_ early "spring tiredness" ?
Could it be some rather serious news about my brother-in-laws' health ?

I don't know what it is. The fact that I had to temporarily move the Gravitar to my gameroom doesn't help much either (it was my son's birthday last tuesday and I had to move it out on wife's order.....).

So, somebody give me a kick to get that machine back in the kitchen and do the last step.....

AndrĂ©, please bent, so I can kick your ass.

No, just kidding. You probably just need a bit of sun and nice outsides temperature, as I do also. So I would like to invite you to a http://www.suncenter.nl/. Please relax for an hour or so, get back home and finish your work on Gravitar.  :)

On the other hand, you could also leave Gravitar for a while, only play it a bit, relax and concentrate on other important private things. You know that I have no room for Gravitar in my place yet.

i know what you mean,

i was rebuilding my house for 2 years, and felt like this after
also i promised the wife that i will finish the house first and then i will do a scratch build

anyway, that promise is a very good stimulance, because i would love to start my project, but like you say
ik heb er de kracht niet voor  8)

i also felt very old  :D

after a few months of the rebulding i started last weekend again, and i am in the mood again !
so i started last weekend with the final part of the house and then i can start my project

maybe its a good idea like the guys mention earlier, "take a breath" we want a lot, but we are not from stone

congratiolations by the way with your son , hope he is allright after the operation from last year

goodluck

ps, taking a breath does not mean stop posting , we love to read your postings  ;D

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

Done some thinking last weekend and I need to get some things changed. One of the issue's why my progress on the cabs is so slow (apart from a crazy winter and no heating in the gameroom yet) is that I have no decent spot to work on monitor etc. I know ideally I would have a working space about the size of my gameroom, but now my gameroom looks like a working space, which was not the intention....

When I work on stuff it's in the kitchen, which is only partially suitable for that.. ;)
Also when I do repair work on boards/monitors it's on the dining table. So, stuff can't stay there f.i. at the end of the night to work on it next evening (or the one after).  Also, I have game and monitor PCB's "stocked" all over my house which is not good for them and for the house ;)

Combining this that my son is growing up (8 already last week) I came to the conclusion:

I will be completely emptying my attic (and believe me that is a MAJOR job !) and put some new stuff on the floor, paint the walls, set-up a separating wall and make a nice (bigger) room for my son. He loved the idea when I mentioned it so there's no problem there.
This will give him more space (looks like the little fellow is almost completing his SW Lego collection !) and it will give me his room to turn into a work space !!! :D
Not that I can drag cabs up there, but I can set up a working desk, install my instruments etc. and leave it there ready to work.

This will allow me to work much quicker on stuff (like re-assembling SW yoke and repairing monitors).
However, the whole project will take quite some time in itself which means less time for the hobby. It's an investment I have to make....

That sounds as a wice and solid investment, with only plusses: your son is happy because he gets a bigger room, your wife is happy because she doesn't have to put up with all kinds of arcade stuff lying around in the house anymore and you're happy because she won't nag you about this any longer and you get a nice second hobby room where you can work on your projects. And probably best of all: your gameroom will actually be 'only' your gameroom again  :)

And I wish you good luck with the attick clear out.  :P

that's a brilliant idea, andrĂ©! you definitely need some space to work on your games over a longer period of time WITHOUT having to clear the mess up every single day. it would be perfect if you had some space to work on the cabinets themselves, but if you can't get them up the stairs, that's not an option. how about getting one of those cheap plastic greenhouses which you can put up in your backyard? you could set it up temporarily for paint jobs (so that you don't have flies or leaves as your new cabinet structure  ;)) and dismantle it afterwards.

anyway, once again a brilliant idea - and it is even better that you have the support of your family for it. congrats!!!
