Wanted: AMP connector
« on: January 28, 2010, 02:31:51 PM »
Because the wiring of the trackball control panel has been hacked I am now looking for a 26 pin AMP connector (according to the manual) to connect the trackballs to the interface pcb on my segasonic.

This is the connector on the interface board, so I need a connector to plug into this:

After looking around a bit I found some connectors but they were all like computer connectors with ribbon cables (like the HDD or FDD cables). The type I'm looking for is with 'normal' wires onto it and suitable to lock with those clips as shown on the picture.

I think AMP are known as Tyco now so you may have more luck using that brand name.

Try Farnell or RS

I contacted AndyGeezer (the expert when it comes to Sega) and he told me these connectors (Sega Amp) are no longer used. Sega stopped using them in 1993 (Daytona & Virtua Cop were about the last games that used them). He has a ton of the pins that are used in these connectors. So that won't be a problem. He will look through his boxes of wiring looms to see if he can find a 26 pin connector for me though. Let's hope he finds one :).
