Aston Belt complete and working.

****Additional photos here****

Comes with the following additional parts:

Galaxy Ranger Laserdisc
Galaxy Ranger logic pcb
Galaxy Ranger marquee/top flash
also a partial Aston Belt pcb set for spares/repair.

So to put it another way if you swap the laserdisc and logic pcb you get a new game.

Original condition apart from the fact that it has the Galaxy Ranger monitor surround not Astron Belt and a Hantarex monitor.  It has been in private hands for 15+ years, 20+  if you include the previous owner. An honest, unmolested and unrestored example so shows some wear from being in an arcade. Was soak tested at some length at the weekend of the south coast slam 2014, hasn't been used much since.

This cab was soak tested at the South Coast Slam for two days solid and proved reliable. Before the show I also fitted a new high flow dust filter to the fan in the back of the cab that serves the laser player.

I am looking to sell my Astron Belt upright or possible trade/px for Spy Hunter or Firefox.

The game is all original and has never been converted and is all in pretty good shape for an unrestored machine apart from the following points: there is some damage to the side art, a small section missing out of one bottom corner of the cabinet and it has a Galaxy Ranger monitor glass which is faded. It currently has a Hantarex monitor installed though it has the original frame so it fits properly in the cab. The control panel is good (although it looks faded in photos it is not). The game works and passes self test.

I also have a Galaxy Ranger top flash, laser disc and a spare working logic board with Galaxy Ranger ROMS installed. Also another spare logic board missing sound board and eproms (PROMS still present).

At the moment the game also has a second loom that runs a Super Don Quixote kit and a second boxed LD1001 LDP (hence the additional player/loom in the photos) but I am intending to remove them unless they are of interest.

##PHOTOS##

http://s1294.photobucket.com/albums/b608/ksarcade/

I can't see any screen burn on the tube, if I'm being picky it might have a very small dot in the centre though the only way you might see it is on the 'raster' screen in test mode.

##HV PCB##

new flyback/LOPT

extensively rebuilt, all new electrolytics on HV board which are uprated as per the Amplifone FAQ

new voltage regs

new 'helper' power resistors across the regs.

New timer IC

new diodes including HV diode.

in fact I think all the silicone parts have been replaced.

##Deflection PCB##

two new uprated deflection transistors

The cab originally came to me with a very sick WG monitor but I sourced the Amplifone tube and parts from an operator years back who had taken the unit out of operation around 1995 due to a dead red flyback and had subsequently kept it on a shelf.

High Voltage and trip correctly set with a probe as per original service manual instructions.

##Audio Regulator II##

New 2N3055 transistor, voltage correctly adjusted at the board after cleaning the pot and  edge connectors and a warm up.

##Logic boards##
I have repaired the logic boards which had multiple issues on AVG and main boards, all self tests pass, soak tested and play tested.

##Cosmetics##

The left hand outer controller cover was new (as of 1996/7) from Suzo who were still selling them when I got the cab. Apart from hoovering the dust out and wiping it down with a damp cloth I have not tried to touch up the cab up at this stage. This came off Eastbourne pier and has been in (my) private hands since 1996/7, the cab is in good condition (but not mint) no wear or hand marks from where people get in/out of the cabinet. There are a couple of knocks and scrapes from shipping the cab originally, some light graffiti in one place, some light fading to the orange on the top of darth vaders head on one side only and what looks like some paint on the rear canopy  (paint now removed see photos). I haven't tried to chemically remove or touch up any of these items and I have photographed the relevant points and stuck the pictures on photobucket.

This has been in storage unused since I would guess about 2000 in a garage with background heating, the electronics have been stored in the house. The yoke controller has a ROTJ centre decal, this never worried me enough to change it though repros are available.

Comes with Cockpit operators manual, creased/dirty back door card, some original unused Atari price of  play stickers and a star tech journal self reply envelope that were all with the game originally.

Bearing in mind the amount of time I have spent on the electronic aspects of this game I am asking 2100 UK pounds SOLD (pending payment and collection)

Game is located in Dorking, Surrey, UK, viewing is possible.

Technical Area / Trouble with Dragons Lair: image in Black and white only.
« on: February 10, 2011, 01:30:50 PM »
Hi,

This is a bit of a cross post from the DLP message board, but i haven't had much of a respose there yet and I figure there are more guys on this site who have PAL versions of Dragons lair....

I recently built up a PC with EuroDL  so I can use an alternate disc player. It works fine but I do not get a color disc image, black and white only.

I do not think this is a PAL/NTSC issue since I have owned the cab for ages and it's pretty much all original and I know it used to work five years ago with the original Philips player.

So far I have tried, two different PAL laserdiscs and two different logic boards. Two different cables from the player to the logic board, two players (Sony LDP-3600D ver 2.1 and Sony 1500P). The blue 'scoreboard' screens as seen on PAL versions of dragons lair are in color so I know that the computer generated gfx work, and also the montor. I know the output of the players is good since I plugged them straight into an old TV with the game running.  The monitor in the cab is currently a WG7000 series but I have now fixed the original Matsush*ta and I shall try putting that back in but I really don't expect that to make a difference.

I figure either both my video cables are dodgy, both logic boards have faults (even though they were 100% before), or most likely they don't like something about the video being output form the Sony players. Has anyone else had problems using these Sony players?

I know there are a few pots on the logic board that I had adjusted in the past for hue/saturation/sync when still using the original player but that option hasn't had much success this time although perhaps I'm not following the proper adjustment procedure.

Any help always appreciated.

Cheers

Karl.
