'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / Wanted: PCB for Atari Sprint 2
« on: November 27, 2014, 01:03:04 PM »
Would like a fully working one but would also take a non-worker on good condition.

Mine is working but keeps adding bugs and flaws from time to time.....so I'd like to have a replacement or a PCB for parts.

Offers via PM, please :)

Arcade Lifestyle / Finally got one: Sprint 2
« on: September 23, 2014, 11:31:08 AM »
Yesterday was a very happy day. Jochen Hippel came by to deliver the Sprint 2 cab he had loaded into his car in Hilversum because we couldn't fit it into ours due to the three Eurocade-cabs. I had bought it from Oliver (Cebulba, the guy with the countless concoles, homecomputers and TVs ;) ) who brought it to Hilversum.

Though I had never seen nor played a Sprint before, I totally fell in love with the game and the cab. And so I was looking forward to get one.

OK, here are pics.

This (obviously) is the bottom of the cab. Two feet are completeley gone, we removed the remaining two so we didn't damage the floor in Dirk's hall (because on one the foot itself was missing and the other one was crumbled).

Here it is in full beauty.....we decided to let it rest for a while so it can get comfortable with the temperature  ::)

The back of the cab. Easy access to (almost) all parts.

Meanwhile Dirk arrived and we talked a little about repairing Space Zap-PCBs (esp. about finding a working custom chip on GORF-boards) and this and that. And while the guys kept talking I soldered an adapter for the Shuffleshot-cab so I could hook up the speakers to that single 4pin connector in the cab. The adapter worked and we played two rounds of Shuffleshot. A great party game, I'm really looking forward to the next party where it can be played :)

Before Jochen left we switched on Sprint 2 to see if/how far it works. To my very surprise it almost worked perfectly. The screen still has a crisp (given the age it is coming from and it has) picture, the burns are almost invisible. The monitor artwork (both, the bezel/marquee and the cardboard) are perfect. The lit cone switches work. Gameplay: the white car (Player 1 on the right) runs perfectly. Player 2 (the black car, player 2 on the left) steers to the right, no matter in which direction the wheel is turned. Guess it's one of the optos, should be an easy fix.

So what can I say? I'm totally happy I bought this cab. Thanks to everyone who was involved :)

Sprint 2 running.....I love it  :-*

Dirk and Jochen playing....

A little detail....the sticker in perfect condition in front of real scanlines :)

To do:
* clean the cab
* repair the left steering wheel for the black car
* check if there is separate sound for player 2 and if it works
* repair the wood on the bottom of the sides
* is the marquee area supposed to be lit?

Arcade Lifestyle / Guided Missile - Restoration
« on: August 23, 2014, 04:48:04 PM »
OK, so you guys will face a Guided Missile on Eurocade 2014. Let me tell you the story behind the cab.

It's been a while since I got the cab along with Atari's Dominos. Guided Missile is already in the gameroom while Dominos is running, but has flaws that will be gone by replacing the connector on the adapter PCB.

Guided Missile was made by Midway in 1977. Two players can play simultaneously. The goal is to shoot missiles at different vessels....trucks, tanks, copters, jets, submarines and ships. You launch the missile and once it has reached the top of the screen and is descending you can use the joystick to move it a little bit left or right. Once a missile was launched you have to wait for the next missile to be brought in place. When the game starts time is counting down. When the countdown is at zero the game is over. You can earn additional play time be reaching a specified amount of points.

I had to do some woodwork with the Guided Missile and Klaus-Peter and Dirk took care of the electronics. Some, if not all, ICs for the single background sounds were blown and had to be replaced. Plus there were some minor problems. While troubleshooting Klaus-Peter found a bug in the schematics ;)

I will add details and pictures about the "hardware" work in the next days.

Here are some pictures how it looks NOW and a little bit about the gameplay:

The upper part of the bezel, the marquee, is lit by a row of small bulbs

Two of them were dead.....

The landscape in the background is not a piece of cardboard but a large piece of molded plastic. Love it very much.
Here you also see the two explosion plastics. If either player hits one of the vessels the light bubl behind the plastic is lit for a second.

...to be continued

Meetings, Exhibition, Events... / Meeting Spinnhacker in Volterra
« on: August 21, 2014, 12:28:32 PM »
I wanted to tell you about a nice small meeting in Volterra, Italy.

We spent a week in Vada, near Giulio's hometown Pomarance and we talked about meeting us in Volterra.

Well, it happened. He brought his wife Stefania, his daughter Cloe, his friend Stefano from Volterra and last but not least his cute dog (Milou??)

Stefano walked around with us and showed us some nice places and shops and some outstanding artwork from gold and alabaster.
Though we had to talks with hands and feet (the italian folks spoke a little english and we far less italian) we had a GREAT evening and this indeed was the best dinner we've ever had in Italy!!! :)

Thanks for having us there, Giulio! You are young, so I really hope I can return your hospitality one day!!!

Giulio also brought a present....we will use it for decoration in our gameroom ...thanks my friend :)

Hi everybody.

I wanted to know who will be in Hilversum on Friday evening and have a "Weizenbier" with us to celebrate the German Championship :)

Need a number how many beer we need.

To the dutch guys....is it possible to buy crushed ice at gas stations or in supermarkets? When do supermarkets usually close in the evening?

CU :)

Weißbier: 2
Regular beer: 2

Hey there.

I have no use for these but I am always thirsty, especially when good friends are around.
So I wanna trade these 4 lamps for ONE beer at Eurocad 2014. Yes, you're reading right, ONE beer for all of these fine lamps  :spaceace:

They're made of plastic. 3 red ones, one blue...obviously.

Only trading at Eurocade, no shipping...unless you're making me an unethical offer.

Grab'em! You know you NEED them!

;) ;D

SOLD

I'm selling the Hyper Bishi Bashi Champ-board that I've bought when our HBBC died a few years ago.

The whole game is in japanese, only the settings pages are in english.

Japanese is not really a problem. The games shows what to do before each game starts ;)

The game works, there's no error message at all. BUT it doesn't save the settings, i.e. sound volume, etc.
I assume it's the RTC but when booting it says "RTCRAM INITIALIZE COMPLETE" and it doesn't show an error message.

It comes with CD and (japanese) manual and (japanese) artwork (see pictures).

Here's a short video I took today from the boot sequence so you see there's no error message:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwfsdVZut84

Price is 100€ + shipping (or personal transfer at EC2014 ;) )
