bruno, what kind of drill (size) are you using to drill open the lock? Do you drill a hole in the middle of the lock to open it?

I've used this one

And... if you look very close, you'll see that the bit is broken

When you drill, you must stay straight... and I've done circle moves, that's the reason why I've broken it   Hopefully, it was at the end of the job  ;)

Bruno, did you do a mark using before you drill ?

using this kind of tool, I don't know the english word for 'pointeau' :

It helps to stay in the axis, get a regular hole and avoid to break it.

There a couple of names, depends on the type of surface you are drilling....

1. A centre punch, typically used for metal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punch_(engineering)
2. An awl or bradawl (beveled), typically used for wood. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awl

I've done this too, and there is no easy way to drill out a lock,  Just use a New metal bit, and if your drill is a variable speed, start off slowly and just hold it tight in the center, and you'll feel the lock "pop" unlocked when you drill all the way through..

Sometimes, you can drill all the way through, and it still won't open, just get a large flathead screwdriver, and put a wrench on the handle and give a turn, that'll get it!!  ;)

OK, before applying the new repro side art, let's check... the sides

Well, this is not good  :-X

For some reason, both side has been repainted in the past

...and if you look closer... the job has been done very quickly ... and very baldy  ???

The guy who done this didn't sand the paint properly (before and/or after applying the paint)  See

He didn't protect the T-molding, see the remain of the white paint here

Hey... I would be able to find the 'guilty man', I presume it's one of his hairs in the paint  ;D

OK, let's work on the first side... ugly isn't it? :?

First, I'm using Acetone in order to remove the deep these dirty marks :

...and in order to remove this (the remain of the ugly white paint putted by someone in the past I still don't know why!  >:( ) :

...I'm sanding the side manually (sandpaper = 600)

On this picture, you see the result of the work... almost done  ;D

Ok... totally done  :-*

Same job on the other side.

Before :

After :

Looks Terriffic!!!   ;D

I remember playing this game when it was new, in Seattle, Washington... When I was in the US Coast Guard!   The local arcade just uncrated it, and I played it... Awesome!   It was soo cool to play Pac Man in 3D (new concept)

Back on this  ;)

Still not a PacMania board yet, but I want to test if the original monitor is working, so let's prepare an accurate PacMania setup  ;)

PacMania is not a game that you can emulate with a low end / too old computer  :?
To be accurate, the scrolling must be 100% perfect, running @ 60 Hz / frames per second. Strange, but impossible to have a perfect one under dos advancemame, even with a 2.2 ghz computer + Arcade VGA  :-\ For some reasons, it looks that DOS cannot handle it (I presume DOS is not sending data to the graphic card fast enough like the accurate XP drivers do, in other other words the more recent gfx cards are not made to be used under DOS).
Fortunately for me, with absolutely perfect with that same computer under XP  :P 8)

Ok, now let's test the original monitor...

...working  :-*

The controls are not ready yet... so I can just watch for the moment  :pac:  :ghost: :ghost: :ghost: :ghost:

Did I already say it? No? I Love RGB on CRT  :-* :-* :-*

...and Yeah  :) The monitor is working fine   :)

 :-*

Ok, time to apply the side art stickers.

I'll use the original PacMania flyer as a reference for the correct stickers location...

...as usual, I'll maintain the upper part of the side art to the cab, and apply the lowest part first...

...once it's done, I'm coming back on the upper part...et voilĂ   8)

It's always the same question at this point : How many air bubbles?

No stress, it fine  :P :-*

...same job on the other side :

The quality of this reproduction is exceptional   :-* :-* :-*
