Starblade Interstellar Dimensions (and other works)
« on: October 12, 2013, 10:43:13 PM »
DISCLAIMER: Starblade is property of NAMCOBANDAI. All artwork ©GEOSWORD X 2013.

Hello, Geosword X here to present something nice for the Starblade/Galaxian 3 community.
It's a hand drawn comic I made back in January and I hope it is a good contribution to the community.
Comments (and criticisms) are welcome (I'm not the best drawer in the world :P).

To start with, here is the synopsis with cast line up:

SYNOPSIS:
United Galaxy Space Force (UGSF) FX-01 Geosword, goes on a routine (and uneventful) Patrol Session near Andromeda.
After a brief radio report, Geosword spots the Enemy Flagship Commander! Throwing caution to the wind, Geosword follows the Comander, until he
ends up in an unknown territory of Andromeda. Without communication to Home Base, how will Geosword get home; let alone SURVIVE!?

CAST OF CHARACTERS:
FX-01 Geosword (UGSF)
Enemy Flagship Commander (UIMS)
UGSF Patrol Commander (UGSF)
Enemy Fleet (UIMS)
Other ships in Starblade fleet (UGSF)
The stars and heavens
Ultra Supreme Interstellar Space Station (UNKNOWN)

Geosword X proudly presents:

Patrol Commander: Geosword, come in, Geosword. This it Patrol Commander. Give me your location, over.

Geosword: This is Geosword. I am currently near Alpha 26972 heading towards NGC224. Do you want me to continue Patrol mission? Over.

Patrol Commander:
Affirmative. Continue Patrol Mission until further notice. Patrol Commander out.

~~~~~~
Geosword: Patrol Commander, this is Geosword. I am now 512.3 SKM twords NGC224. Do you.....!!!!!!
!!!!! It's the Enemy Flagship commander!
Geosword: This doesn't make sense. Didn't I defeat the Enemy Flagship Commander in my last mission?
??? No matter! He's getting away!
"Warp point set. Commander heading towards NGC224. Geosword warp point is located. Coordinates set at N246."
"Pursue and engage Enemy Flagship Commander."
Don't touch that dial! Stay tuned for more! ;)
I like this!  :)
Instead of drawing by hand, you may use a basic 3D rendering software to produce the images? Starblade ships aren't too complex in term of visual. That would help you a lot to produce scene. But in other hand, I like the concept 'everything by hand, which give a personal touch to this.
Otherwise, it's a very good start. Do not hesitate to include 'Galaxian3' stuff, same era in the ugsf TimeLine  ;)
I would if I knew how 3D rendering works but I feel fine sticking with pencil and paper for now. I do thank you for enjoying my comic so far. :D
As we last left off: Geosword was on patrol until he spotted the Enemy Flagship Commander. He follows the commander unto unknown territory. Where does he lead him to? Let's find out!
Geosword: Geosword to Patrol Commander! Do you read me? Over?
~~~STATIC~~~

Geosword: "Something is not right.....
Radio communication has been cut from Home Base."

"Even worse, the coordinate data map has malfunctioned."

Geosword:
"It won't take me long to take down the Flagship Commander. I'll be done before the next Patrol Session starts."

Geosword: Flagship Commander currently set towards a large silver moon.

"Wait......data reads that this structure is not made of organic space material."

Control Panel Reads:
UNKNOWN STRUCTURE
Fe-90%
C-0%
Si-0%
AL-70%
Bi-48%
Ti-90%
UNKNOWN-120%

Position:UNKNOWN
Size of Entrance:UNKNOWN
Power Source:UNKNOWN

Geosword: No! It's impossible!

"It is a Ultra Supreme Interstellar Space Station!"

Very nice :)  The drawing doesn't matter that much if the story is good. But TBH reading your hand written text is a little difficult.
Since I know how much work it is to do this in 3D rendering software or in any graphics software at all....since you have already scanned your drawings, why not enter the text with a drawing software (free software is GIMP or Inkscape).

This small sample was done in GIMP within two minutes. Erased you wrinting, entered text and placed it.....voilá :)

+1

Some guys won't give the effort to read this if they can't quickly figure out what's written unfortunately  :-\

Here's the result with a simple Photoshop filter... but I'm sure other filters could really improve this and could even give better manga/comic effects!  8)

Please continue, I love to see this! :P

I do thank you for your suggestions but I did feel quite offended that my artwork was altered. I find the hand written text to be part of the original artwork and I did not feel that it needed to be changed. I am willing to make a transcript of the text (The transcripts will be on the bottom of each comic page). This comic was never fully intended to be online as I just wanted to send a nice contribution to the Starblade/Galaxian 3 community.

Geosword: D@#$#! Lost visual on enemy target!

Geosword: "I have to go with my "gut instinct" to track him down again!"

Geosword: Incredible! This must be where the enemy fleet prepares for battle!

Geosword: S%#@^!!

Of course this was not my intention and I'm sure it wasn't Bruno's either :)

THE CHASE IS ON!

Geosword: How could I be so careless! They must have detected me by radar!

Geosword: Turning off radar to avoid enemy detection.

"Now I need to cut them off!"

Geosword: "Overall damage report:"

"Shield: 30%"
"Fuel: 10.5% Switching to Solar Ray Mode."
"Photon Laser Unit: OK"
"Attack Computer: Down"
"Communication System: Down"
"Engine Power: ..................."
"Current Location: UNKNOWN"

Geosword:
...............
"This doesn't seem good."
"Stars in the greater heavens help guide me."

Geosword: It appears to be safe to come out......

Geosword: According to this information data, this, "Generator",  must be the main power source for this Space station.

As there is no other source to confirm this, it must be destroyed.

"Geosword cleared to engage on power generator."

ZAP! ZAP!

KABOOM!
