My Dragon´s Lair odyssey... It´s all done :)
« on: January 22, 2013, 11:42:09 PM »
I start now to build my own Dragon´s Lair, arcade machine.
Start with the hardware and software.
I use a Pentium 4 with 3,3 GHz, for the open GL option a ATI Radeon x1600 and 60 GB OCZ Vertex 2.
today i show you the final hardware setup, with boot sequence.
I build a metal cage for all the components so i am sure i got no disorders in other electronic parts.
The fans are not so loud in real as it sounds in this video.

Tomorrow i got the last parts to build the repro of the score board. i give a report with photos when it´s done :)

OS is Windows XP, isn't it?
Nice you removed the OS loading screen by the 'DL side art' image :) (It's just a file to replace I presume?)

Yes right Etienne u can use this tool, but i use the editor and change it self, it is not so difficult as the most think.
You must only take the picture what u like, open it with CS, Gimp or what ever and change the size to 640x480 and save it as BMP with only 16 colors under c:/windows as boot.bmp
After this start edit and open as admin the boot.ini. Seek the command line  [operating systems]
You must complete the entry here at the end, to type in /bootlogo/noguiboot
After this save the boot.ini restart your system and enjoy your new bootlogo :)

Hope my english is good enough to understand what i mean :s

Nope, my DL runs the original hardware, but not my Space Ace and other games too! This will look far better  8)

Nice you use the original hardware :) :)
i have the Laserdisc from 1991, but no player, i look around for one, but can´t find a player with the rs32 interface that work with daphne :(
have someone a idea where i can find one?

yesterday i get the imc7218d controller chip for the score board... but the dealer send only one from two what i have order.
I hope i get the second chip soon. i don´t start to build the cabinet before the hardware is not 100% set and run.

Ahhh yeess and one problem i have, maybe someone can help me, i need the dimensions for the control panel, with all holes for the buttons and the stick, i look in web to find it but don´t find anything :(

Day one on the score board:

First cut the PCB to the right size and set the segment LED displays:

Schematics and the first jumpers, problem is, the new digits have not the same pin in, so i must set all new, hope i do all right at last or it makes fump :D

Six hours later, all jumper to the digits for player 1 and 2 lives and player 1 score are set, i am tired now, my eyes burn and i stop the work for this day.

To be continued....

I start to build the cabinet, but it seams the plans what i use are not all right :(
So i need help now. It seams the size disclosures for the both plates from the top are not right, i need the dimensions from the top plate and the plate what is under the marquee and the scoreboard.
Maybe here is someone that not life far away from me and it is possible that i can take a look on his DL Cabinet ant take the dimensions.
If got the plans from jakobud and i am sure there is something wrong with the marquee detail.

Here i am with he work:
