Hi guys, Gravi here. Finally, after two weeks we are back home!  :) It is good to be home again, but we also had a great time at Eurocade 2013 / The Retro Game Experience.  :spaceace: :spaceace:

We just want to say a final thanks to all of you and it is great to know that you admired us, played us and had a lot of fun with us (CS enjoyed the nice and warm strokes, so she said). And don't be despaired, because ....

W'LL BE BACK !!!

The first layer is bubble foil, the second shrink foil. I wish there was a little more environment friendly stuff we could use.

You can buy it in any Home Depot, Brico Hobby, you name it.
Just ask for the plastic rolls used to wrap pallets.

I have a heap of old wool blankets for that.

Yeah, I actually had a plan to stitch blankets together to make covers for the machines but was lacking time.

The trouble with loose blankets is that we had to store the machines in some areas in B&G where there were still people moving and working and we wanted them protected there too.

I still have this vision of making covers with strong canvas on the outside, and soft but firm stuff on the inside to really protect them from bumps etc. I must say the shrink wrap had one very positive effect during transport: we could put three upright machines next to eachother in the van, and where the machines touched eachother, shrink wrap really grabbed the other shrink wrap, thus making the cabs "bond" which prevented movement already. Of course we (actually, Erik, our load-master) also strapped everything, but it did help.

The factory that made the Retro Space shells also had a very smart way of packaging:
2 cabs back2back on a pallet. Then 3 bars of foam in between. The covered the edges with hard cardboard L-shape profiles and finally slightly wrapped the cabs in plain foil, not even bubble foil, mainly to keep the cardboard strips in place.
Unfortunately a transporter for an event was not so smart. They tied the cabs with the back to the side of the truck with spanner cables without something in between. That gave some costly re-paint jobs
