[Superully's Roadtrip] Into the Wild
« on: August 17, 2012, 10:42:48 PM »

this morning i woke up thinking to myself, "how about doing something crazy? how about doing something adventurous? how about doing some lost places exploration?". so i took out my roadtrip location map and indeed found a nice spot in the middle of nowhere i hadn't been to yet (believe me, those places really exist ;)). after getting some safety instructions, letting everyone know where i was headed to and writing my last will i jumped into my car ...

... and headed off into the wild!

after some confusing navigating, i arrived at an abandoned building. i knew i had to be right, because - as we've learned from mr indiana jones himself - the X marks the spot

after i had found a way in, this is what the building looked like inside :o :o :o

puh, didn't look very promising, but when i turned around a corner, my eyes lit up and my heart began beating faster! :)

from here on out, things got better and better! in an adjacent room, two more cabinets nicely stored away :P

the right cab was generic, but the left one looked promising, but couldn't be reached from up front, so i had to climb on top of it, hold out my camera and hope for some nice shots. here they are

everything seems to be there, apart from one tiny piece: THE F***ING LASERDISK PLAYER!!! but who cares? ;)

anyway, when i looked up i saw a collapsed floor right above me

i had to get up there, no matter what, so i looked around and found a cute stairway leading upwards

the same stairway viewed from above! as you can see, the lower section of it has already collapsed ...

when i looked around again, i saw nothing but dirt, wooden planks, metal bars and decay!

but wait a minute, what's that over there, in the tiny room at the very end?

HA - I KNEW IT!!! :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:

although dirty and rusty, the games seem to be in ok condition

after removing some dirt, the space encounters' control panel looked fabulous!

however, i'm not 100% sure whether the monitor had been necked or not, upon first inspection i thought yes, but i'm not so sure anymore ...

the sides of the space zap would come out nicely once cleaned up

unfortunately, not all the boards were present anymore :'(

of the four upstairs cabs, the battlezone looks the best inside, only one pcb is missing!

and then there's universal's cosmic alien, apart from the missing marquee it is complete

from what i could tell, everything's there on the inside as well! :)

finally, i found a great (non-arcade related) item: a super(ully) massator!!! hilarious, isn't it?

thus ended my roadtrip adventure today. i had an incredible time exploring the premises and there's so much more i could tell (and show) you, but i can't give away anything else for now!

but rest assured: this hasn't been my last trip into the wild ...
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

Wow... great treasures in the middle of nowhere!

Did you plan to get all these games? What is the story behind that place? More details please!  ;)

... after getting some safety instructions, letting everyone know where i was headed to and writing my last will i jumped into my car ...

Funny... I've just watched few days ago this fantastic movie

thx for your comments, guys! as i've already said, i can't disclose any more information for now, but i'm working on something basically as we speak. just wanted to add that no illegal action has been going on here, no breaking in, no nothing - everything was planned and supervised 8). so this is not going to be a "second sundance disaster"!!!

it's so weird.  these cabs have been played in front sea or other joy places,  loads of kids have dreamed of having them.  and one day they disappeared  and reappear in a wasteland .   it's so adventure loaded !.   raiders of the lost modern ark !!

a video of the discover would have been much more intense !!!    personnaly each trip i could go or cemetery arcade, i recorded with cam !!  8)

Mehhhhh, such a shame it was all legal,,you take the fun out of it ! And no great "Sundance" thread.....:(

( for those who don't know the Sundance story, do a search on KLOV forum...... )

Another amazing find, wonder how you get those locations.

I wonder even more why someone in the 80s actually put those machines there.....and for what ??
I mean the games were not making any money anymore, why not just scrap them ?

I mean, I am happy they didn't, but it just makes no sense to put written off games in a location like that and to leave them there for.....ages....
