Thanks to speleo_de for a fast as lightning board repair  ;D  and thanks to flipper.com for a brandnew potentiometer (and thanks to me for installing it and do a bit of monitor tweaking) Breakout now runs 100%

Yep, this historical machine is ready for Eurocade 2013.  :D

Very nice  :)

Well done for getting it all fixed up and working. How is the side art?

I'd like a Breakout or Super BO in my collection one day.

That cab is in pretty good nick AFAIK, coming from the famous Belgian warehouse.

Totally brilliant Erik, and a big thanks to Speleo who "in spirit" will now be with us too ;)

Yes, the side art is still in very good shape, 9 out of 10 I would say. The only real bad part is the laminate of the ´kick panel´ which is damaged here and there and missing broken-off parts. But I already have some substitute laminate to apply to it. And then it will be a real looker.  ;D

By the way, welcome to this forum, please introduce yourself here: https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?board=3.0

and tell us a bit about yourself and how you experience the hobby of game collecting.  :)

Edit: Oh, you already did. But why is your postcount then 1? Bruno?

I'm always shocked when I start a game in our room and see the very/far too small pad at the bottom and I wonder 'How the f**k am I supposed to catch the ball with this small thing?' :D

Postings in the "All the rest" section don't count, Bruno explained that when we discussed the 10000 post barrier some time ago ;)

Haha LOL, imagine how a game like this would have been like if it were developed today.

First you would have to go through a load of option screens where you can set the background colors, the colors of all individual tiles, wether they have sharp or curved edges, the color of your bat, the size of your bat, the way that the angles work on the bat's edges, gravity, the speed of the ball etc. etc.

Then the game would cheat by letting you hit the ball even if you were "close enough" to the ball because else "it wouldn't be fair".......

....and of course you'd have indefinite continues so you can "complete" the game so quickly that you are done with it within one week and have to go out and buy a new game.

Nahhhh, in those times, gamers were men of steel. The rules were simple clear and hard  ;D ;D ;D

Or it would let you 'install' an invisible bar at the bottom, leaving only one small spot (or none at all) where the ball can slip through....God-Mode  ;D

What a great game! I can't believe it works. I just love classics like these. Great artwork too.

Yes,

I love the artwork too. A few months ago I had plans to sell it, but that won´t happen anymore!  :)

There are still two little things to do:

1. renew the laminate on the kickpanel
2. give the coin door a layer of fresh paint.

This I will do after the upcoming Retro Game Experience.  :)
