Sorry to say, but i think they will be like this - when i did the marquee and bezel brackets, they had the same "deep rust" but they turned out nice after 3 coats of primer and 3 coats of black!

Long story short, yours will turn out great! ;)

I've been fighting the rust bug on Missile Storm too from the Duke.  I haven't had to strip the CPO (its a very thick stippled paint, no idea how to redo that), luckily there are only small blemished along the very edge.  My trackballs looked as bad as yours, I'm looking to get the rollers re-made (not cheap) as they're unique to the Sidams.  Keep going, you can do it :)  One of the Missile Storms is running in attract mode now, pretty pleased about that.

Edit:  actually  what are the hole fixing measurements on that trackball?  While the construction and parts are different, that looks like the same size and bolt pattern as the Sidam units....  I could probably save a lot of money fitting an Atari unit instead of remanufacturing Sidam parts.

Pix, pix pix !

http://www.system11.org/temp/Arcade/Cabs/Missile%20Storm/index.html

Various photos, some of dismantled parts, some of cleaned parts, some reassembled parts.  Shame there's no picture of the monitors, they both had metal shields around the back of the tube which were incredibly rusty - the one on there now was rust proofed and primered after stripping the rust off.  Actually everything is cleaned and reapired now, but I can't bolt the machine back together due to the weather outside..

Holy freak.....look at that side art, MINT !!!!

Why why why don't I have loads of space ......else one of those beauties would have been mine. It would look totally fabulous next to my Asterock. Man, Sidam may have been bootleggers, but they sure know what they did ! Stylish and quality  :spaceace:

.....AND they thought about ergonomics ! Look, they have CP's that are tilted to the back just like my Asterock (although not as steep).

I am positive this will make play more comfortable for this game too.

Any pics of the PCB ? Pretty sure they re-arranged it a bit like Asterock...

I'll try to take some.  One board works, other is dead.  Hoping to take a look at the spare board tomorrow.  Finished the coin doors today aside from bulbs which all snapped at soon as I looked at them - wires eaten away.  One machine is going to *hopefully* be working but the next owner will need to do all the cleaning/etc, other machine is getting the full works.  One of the G07s was necked before I got it, but I had a spare one from an Atari System 1 in the garage which may still work...

I have an original missile command control panel available that is not in great shape, but its a million times better than what you have.. ? Just the metal panel with art, no buttons or trakball...
