Thanks for linking my interview with Aart into this thread and on the Eurocade 2012 page. Aart pointed me in the direction of you guys before the interview. I really enjoyed reading about the 2011 event, I was very impressed with what you put on so I felt it only right it got a mention in the interview.

This year looks like it will top last's years event - The Galaxian W.R. attempt was a stroke of genius - I hope it brings you a lot of positive publicity.

Have a blast all of you next weekend - it's a great looking list of Games already.

Finally Good luck (sm)Aarty pants with the W.R. attempt! I'll be checking in via the live stream for sure.

~Julian

Hi Julian !

Welcome here and thanks for mentioning Eurocade in the interview and your kind words ! :)
I was also very proud to read that Aart liked how well my Galaxian plays  ;D

Maybe you can write a piece about Eurocade 2012 ?  ;D

We did a little testing today and that was a good idea as we learned a couple of things that did and didn't work out as we hoped.
We will (have to) fix that before friday   :ghost:

At least we luckily had the CORRECT ROM set that Aart wants to play and also the one that he played at Fun Spot during his World Record.
It is also the "official" version that is set to 3 Galaxip and a bonus Galaxip at 7000 points.

We also tested the UPS (Uninterruptible Power Source) succesfully. It first had to charge the batteries but I tested it about half an hour ago. Pulling the plug didn't crash the game, tried it several times and it made the Galaxian run fine without mains power.

I tested how long it would last and let's say that it gives us a minute or 5 to replace any blown fuses in the electricity circuit, should that be the cause of any outage. We'd need a more powerful UPS if we want it to run longer than that (or maybe the batteries weren't entirely full yet) but the place is not that big and 5 minutes should be enough. The UPS starts beeping when mains fails, so we can't miss it for sure...

At least it gives it protection against surges and spikes and a short mains outage....I still wonder why about any WR attempt I have seen is done without one of these....esp. in the US where mains problems are much more often happening, then again you must be lucky enough to have access to one of these ;)

We also adjusted the fire button a tiny bit to make it perfect (or close to perfect).

Regarding the streaming we will have to find another solution than the tablet hanging on the grill of the speaker of the cab. The thing is that the stream sometimes seems to stop for no apparent reason. We of course cannot "reset" that while Aart is playing next saturday, so I think we will have to go back to the initial plan of a separate camera and a computer to do the streaming.

Here's a picture of today...

Looks pretty great.....who will beat who....man or machine..... ;D

We will be putting black foil to the windows (behind the curtains) so the place will be a lot darker than this and also dress up the area nicely...man those curtains are ugly !

I haven't met many World Champions (saw some on film though..........) and I must say Aart must be one of the kindest around  :spaceace:

Man,  I love Aart´s hoodie, have to ask him next week where he got it.

But I´m happy that the tests today brought some new info, and it was great to watch it over ustream.

And I will take care of dark plastic sheets for the windows.

That UPS is only a 700 AFAIR..

I wanted to bring the 1500, but there was a problem with the battery check part, it randomly "alarms" that the batteries are bad, even after we replaced those with new ones, so thats not reliable..

And the other that we have in use now (APC 8000 XL) was a bit too heavy in weight (110KG without the extra battery pack  :o) to carry  ;D

That has a bit longer runtime...  last time i measured it could support 50 minutes with all 8 servers, 4 switches and SAN running..

Enough off topic, 5 minutes should be enough to cover "normal" trouble.

Yep, the only thing we can solve ourselves in case of an outage is replacing the mains fuse. 5 minutes is plenty for that.

Just had a look at the Eurocade 2011 thread. If I kept the list updated enough these are the differences:

Visitors 2011: 39 (subtracted those on the list but didn't show up)
Visitors 2012: 50 enlisted....:)

Videogames 2011: 31
Videogames 2012: 41   :)

Pinballs 2011: 5
Pinballs 2012: 3

All in all, a healthy growth without loosing the cosy atmosphere I'm sure !  :spaceace: :spaceace:

A HUGE thank you for all registering to come, traveling from all over Europe and bringing cabs.....you guys ROCK !!!

Yes...all that but alas:

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

Oke some good news from this site
Got my personal sponsor  I can take the van from work so transportation is easier for me.
Also got my own drivers license now (last year not yet)
So I don’t have to really on other people.
Question to the crew from witch time  is it possible to bring cabs on Friday?
I will try to bring them al, or at least the pins because they take some time to set up and makes stuff easier for me on Saturday

after all the good news here's some bad: The Outrun Mini won't be there..  :(

Tried my best but there is still a problem with the steering of the car (movement only to the left) and a new issue (broken steering wheel screw, only 2 left) came up... sorry about this but i'll bring enough other cabs for you guys to enjoy!  ;)

It is not possible, but Etienne can apply a nice hack to add credits easily.
