I'm currently hunting for some suitable glass that is non glare but still can be seen through If the subject is a couple of cm. from the glass. Most non glare glass is used for frames for pictures and need to make contact with the picture to show it, everything further gets blurry so can't use that.

I'm pretty surprised that this stuff is so hard to find.

I got a lead through a very helpful woman at St-Gobain, she refered me to another company (she mentioned she got the same question regularly, which should make the glass business think.....) and they will call me back.
If this works I'm going to order a sheet for my SW cockpit too....if its not too expensive of course.

Yep, its printed 1:1

so if it fits, i can trace the lines in Illustrator, and maybe lasercut a cardboard version for you  ;)

Little helper is long asleep already so dad did it himself. It looks like it will fit but I will have to match it tomorrow.

Something else: does anybody have any Atari black T-molding on stock/spare ?

The stuff I intended to use (that I bought from Happ controls through Suzo) has a much wider "beard" that will never fit in the slot...
The top is wider too but that's not a big problem. The weird thing is that I have used this stuff for Centipede too and it worked fine. Maybe the Irish grooves were cut wider ?

I'll try to post a pic of the two compared together tomorrow.

I also decided to leave the coin door for now. When the T-molding is on it and both bezels ready and installed it's "Eurocade ready". Will still have to fix the backdoor too. But I want to get the Ms.Pac done too if possible and also Hard Drivin'. HD is HOPEFULLY just a pot meter problem on the steering wheel.

Now the weather seems to improve a bit I might have a chance to look at it.

The Ms.Pac needs the full works and no way I am going to rush on it because of Eurocade but it would be cool if it is done by then.

Coming 60 days will be very busy though with Eurocade organizing, fixing two WG6100 boards (I hope !), redoing the wall paper in our living room and having the wooden floor completely sanded and getting a new top layer. And also a vacation somewhere in this period....wew....

Maybe. I don't have one though and besides not knowing how to operate one I would be worried if the machine would skip out of my hands and onto the side art or anything else...Would also have to redo the vacuuming etc.
I also have worries if the 1979 particle board will survive...

I actually used to own a slot cutter but I sold it because I had never used it and didn't see me use it in the future...

Well...not sure. I have always felt that the Atari T molding is flatter than the usual stuff.

I will make a pic this afternoon and upload, there still was a piece of the original on the underside of the cab...

Got it !!! It wasn't cheap but WTF......nothing but the best ! I really hope it is worth the extra money. If it's as good as I hope I may buy this for SW and Asteroids too. Will report tomorrow...

This is a drawing from www.t-molding.com for regular 3/4" black smooth T-molding:

As you can see the "widest" part of the "beard" is 3/32" wide. That is a bit less than 2.4 mm.
That comes very close to the Atari molding. I think the Happ/Suzo stuff is about half a cm. (5 mm.) at the beard. and you can also see the total beard is a LOT of material compared to the Atari stuff..

Something in my memory tells me that the Suzo people told me this stuff came from the UK and not from the US so the stuff that is ordered from Happ/Suzo in the US maybe something else....

Anyway....the stuff I have here now is completely useless...

Hey, sorry for digging out this comment from the last page  ;)

Quote
Would it be possible to print/have printed the ASTEROIDS bezel ai file from Zorg's vector lib and stick it from the back of a plexi ?
The biggest problem I see is cutting out the HUUUUGE center area but alternatively this could be printed on transparent sticky foil ?

This would be a good alternative to getting a used (scratched) one from the US.

Then I could have two plexi's cut at exactly the same size..

I`ve just printed exactly this asteroids bezel. The printer company did the print and the cut on adhensive foil. Then I just cut plexi 6mm strong and fixed the foil on the plexi.

What me disturbs was :

- The adhensive side of the foil was on the back side and not on the print side. So the bezel artwork is no on the front on of the plexi. So the foil will have some scratches when assembling the control panel.

- Second the black level of print. I don't know if the printer black level is bad or the file black level. But it isn't black.

- Third : adhensive foil is difficult to fix without bubbles etc.

I`ve taken no pictures yet. But I installed the new bezel anyway since the new plexi has no scrachtes. But I will make a new one when the takeman control panel is arriving.

I`m going then to make the bezel in sandwich technique

- 3mm Plexi
- better quality print on paper of the bezel
- 3mm plexi

Second plan is to polish the old bezel.

So this was my experience with the bezel.

Glad you worked out the T-Molding thing.

Thanks Jörg ! Don't you think the 6 mm. will become too thick ?

I just compared the Atari T molding with some black leathered molding I have ready for my Ms. Pac and that comes very close to it regarding the beard size.....the stuff Suzo sold me is really weird stuff....don't buy it unless you are prepeared to re-router your side panels....

Ordereing Tmolding.....

Just checked the paper bezel and it looks fine to me, sizes are correct.

Yes it's clumsy but it's just to check the sizes....
