Even if stored in a "generic" TAITO cab, the Elevator Action is a machine i would own  pacman

What is that black "box" on the back of the cabinet (the box with the TAITO logo in it) used for?

i will most likely repaint the cabinet with the "elevator action color scheme"

What is that black "box" on the back of the cabinet (the box with the TAITO logo in it) used for?

that's the monitor "bubble" which protects the neck!

Really? I would bet those cabinets where sufficiently deep to keep the monitor largely inside... interesting, thanks!

honestly i thought / think so too, because the monitor orientation is the same as in jungle king - and this one doesn't have the bubble. my idea is that someone "transplanted" the EA parts into this cabinet which originally had a vertical monitor orientation and therefore needed the bubble. make sense?

i will check though once i've re-arranged the storage over the next few days ...

DAY 2: ENGLAND - BELGIUM

upon leaving the unit, chris snaps this photo of black beauty - and with that it's starting to rain ...

... and it rains ...

... and rains ...

... and rains!

click on the following picture to see that we almost drowned on the road shock arrow

fortunately, we arrive safe and sound at the british eurotunnel check-in (thx for driving in the heavy rain, chris)

look at this, the train is empty Shocked

click on the following picture to see us entering the eurotunnel train arrow

a lonely passenger

... on an almost empty train

we have to make sure that our van doesn't roll around during transit

the following pictures perfectly summarize our roadtrip: it was extra-large, ...

it was big ...

... and it was long, tall & cool! thx for being such a great roadtrip companion, chris!!!

time to celebrate the successful "extraction" of arcade games from england Grin

one final round of gas

back in belgium at the base, there are two more things waiting to be loaded into the van (damn!)

so let's throws those babies into the mix

enough is enough - what a day!

good night, mr. godzilla Twisted

to be continued ...

DAY 3: BELGIUM - GERMANY

once again an early wake-up because i have to drop off the van before 1pm

everyone else is still asleep, so it's my time to take care of the cat

first: some food

then: some love Kiss

let's jump into the van ...

... and head home!

enjoying a well-balanced breakfast on the road Cheesy

slowly but surely, the sun's coming up

while taking a short break, i'm sending a text message to patrik telling him that i'll be at the storage at around noon so that he can come over to help me. he'd better be there ... Twisted

12 o'clock at the storage, guess who's NOT here! this means i'll have to unload everything A-L-O-N-E, noone else around at this time of day! Evil

suddenly his daughter ronja shows up telling me that patrik should be here shortly, but since i'm an a very tight schedule i can't afford to wait for his arrival, so i'll have to continue alone - for now. well, at least someone's here to take some pictures of "an old dude working his butt off" Tongue

i love making stressed exaggerated faces (although those machines really are heavy)

number two is out ...

... and parked at a temporary location. i'm already done, patrik where are you?

the story so far arrow

let's get out that taito cab

very dirty underneath

taito transport log

that was the prelude, now on with the main dish, the heavy beasts: release the titans!

xybots to the front please

if only HE could help me - would be a piece of cake then!

without him, it's much more difficult

only one cab left - and bentley bear is no little helper here

man, i'm so sweaty! why can't i collect stamps?

unloading completed!!!

only two things left to do: return the "autumn van" ...

... and show you the final statistics picture! YESSS, i did make it on time!!! Space Ace Space Ace Space Ace

one continent, one island, four countries, 2015 kilometers, 47 hours 50 minutes on the road - this roadtrip is OFFICIALLY OVER!

p.s.: patrik showed up when i had unloaded the crystal castles from the van Wink
