the label is 85 x 16 mm.  :)

By the way, you need a tleast 5 'serial only' decals, there is one on the power brick and four on the door-panel boards:

I didn't see one on the monitor.

Have you ever tried varnish remover?
That's usually used to remove paint from wooden doors/stairs/furnitures.
It worked fine for me on my Centi CPO.
Do you have a brand or picture Chris, sounds interesting !
Sadly, I don't remember which one I used, it was just leftovers from what we had used on our stairs.
It was smoking and looked very dangerous. The lid of the can kept popping up by itself so I got rid of the rest :)

John('s arcade) uses something similar too on his DL control panel (check it out at 0h23min").

It's funny.....the last days I've come into a certain routine:

When I get home I put on my old cloths, get out the painting stuff and roll another layer of yellow paint on the Q*bert :)

I've done layer five a couple of hours ago (  ).

Today I was home pretty early and I could let the full sunlight fall on the side and I thought I could still see some "shining through" but it could also be that my mind is just tricking me.....

Anyway another layer went on and I think I'm done....at least I hope.

I called some paint shops around the European Arcade Capital and sure enough one of them had P1500 and P2000 grid waterproof sanding paper.

Picked up 3 sheets of each 1500 and 2000....those sheets are pretty small compared to regular sheets (I think half the regular size) and also pretty expensive compared to regular sheets....paid €4,80 for those 6 sheets. well OK they are 3M brand and we all know that is quality for sure...

I'll try this stuff tomorrow. If it works and is OK then that is that and I'm finished with the yellow.
What I hope is that apart from getting rid of the orange peel it will also make the paint a little less shiny....I got gloss paint but it's maybe a little bit too much, maybe I should have gotten semi-gloss but hopefully the fine sanding paper this also makes it less shiny.

If I screw up, I still have enough paint for another layer and I'll leave it like that.

Also finally ordered the black leathered T-molding and I'm going to have a look how to mount the monitor, shouldn't wait with that...

Nice progress.

I know what you mean with routine, but dont break this routine, or there will be minor things to do, which will then never happen.  ;)

Break the routine when the cab is totally finished  :spaceace:

(I have the "feel" of painting now :))

Anyway, home early enough to put my Q*ty in the full sunlight....what do you guys think ?

Now I'm in some doubt.....Yes there is orange peel but....it looks damn licking yellow good !

I have some fear of the 2000 grid sanding.....I know John had good results on his Jouney, but he used Latex paint and this is proper oil based....

Thought of painting a small "test" bit on some piece of wood and try that first but that means waiting another 24 hours for it to dry....I think I'll just give it a shot....worst case scenario: I need to add a 6th coat....

Oh for those interested here's the paint info:

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It's strangely satisfying to paint with such a primary color, I mean.....you ususally use "moderate" colors inside your home .....that's so awesome about these machines, everything to get attention....smack-dag in  your face !  ;D

Yeps... even with a very low contrast setting on my monitor, this yellow color brights like the sun!... GREAT!  :spaceace:

OK....so I tried the exact some method of sanding with 2000 grid sanding paper. Even had a spray bottle with water and some soap and I did an entire side. It worked, there was yellow on the paper towel, but it din't look good.

Not sure if it's the color or the paint (oil instead of latex) but I got "dark spots" instead of the slight orange peel.

I still had the cab outside, I twisted it around a few times to the same light to compare the sides and decided that I liked the unsanded side MUCH better.

Ok there's some orange peel.  So what ? It will never look like spray-painted that's for sure....I don't care. It looks GREAT.

SO.....I had to put on a 6th coat and I did both sides.....even now I still have some paint left.....pretty unbelievable really.

It was just a half-liter can.

So.....there have been some new Q*bert owners and in the spirit of this fantastic forum I'd like to ask you guys for some help...

I could really use some good detailed pictures of exactly how the monitor is mounted on the inside and especially how the artwork bezel and inner black bezel are looking and how they are positioned.....

I also need to know how that inner plastic bezel looks and if it has a small or large edge etc.

Would be vey much appreceated if anyone can find some time for that :):):)
