OK, following THE event  arrow

(the huge organization topic here)

Here's the DLF/ALS report.

2nd of September : Let's prepare the event...

Which cabinet to pickup for the exhibition? Well, after all the Q*Bert would be most convenient to take with me : small, reliable and not too hard to pickup inside the 'messy' game room...

...almost outside...

...and ready to load!  arrow

Done! Note take the opportunity to take a lot of pictures of that 'baby' in the day light... the weather is really nice today  Tongue Wink  arrow

I don't forget to bring with the stuff sold specially for that occasion, see that 'Eurocade sales topic' (ps: topic/section for registered members only... you now what you have to do if not  Roll Eyes Wink)  arrow

It's also time to take with me the brand new Dragon's Lair Fans / Arcade Life Style banner I've just got from the printer few days ago... wow... just in time.
Thanks to Etienne for your help regarding the vectorization of some elements (DLF letters and Dirk/Daphne artwork) Kiss

Here's the preview of it...

...of course, as you'll see on the coming pictures, it looks far better 'in real' with its '2 per 1 meter' size Tongue

As I use to do for mostly all events, my sponsor requires me to bring the official DLF/ALS drink ... guess the name  Grin  arrow

3rd of September : THIS IS IT!

Like any arcade road trip, necessary stuff to prepare before departure  Smiley

Let's head to the hotel first...very close to the Eurocade location... not very far from here Cool

Autopilot is ready... the musics on my CD will do the rest ...

Ignition! Fog this morning.

Nothing special to report during the trip...

Almost there... Ridderkerk! European video games capital for today  Cool

The hotel suggested by André...

...was a very good choice, as expected  Smiley

OK, enough blabla... after an early check-in, let's drive to the Eurocade locate, very close to the hotel.

After a warm welcome of the 'cade crew  and other guys, let's unload the Q*Bert with the help of Muero who has the privilege to be on the first picture at location  Grin  arrow

With some efforts, the DLF/ALS banner is on a good location, with the help of Belike & Ckong  Kiss  arrow

Atarimania & Hi 'the French team' on the Galaxian...

And here's coming the Belgian team  Cool  arrow

The cool way to play inside a cockpit  Grin  arrow

The couple Level 42/ Q*Bert now reunited  Wink  arrow

Let's see if the high score will be affected at the end of the day  Tongue ...

Between the arcade room and the bar, a corridor with very interesting stuff  arrow

An Atari 800 :

It was a 'geek' joke at the beginning, but it has finally been released : the icade station for ipad  Shocked  arrow

Arcade 'bartop', very 'fashion' these last years  Cool  arrow

A *famous* 'wall cab'... interesting item...

...but the controls configuration won't allow you to 'high score' on it!

Note that the controls disposition on that 'Carnival' is far better  arrow

An other curiosity ... this consolette (Atarimania, some details about it?)

A jamma supergun setup...

...to demonstrate the result of the SLG 3000 scanline generator device.

Very effective  arrow

A good old C64...

...now with a TV  Grin  arrow

I really appreciate to play Commando and Tapper on it (and especially listening the Commando music)  Kiss Kiss Kiss

Very nice idea, that 'area'...

But I can hear the call of Ktulu the Arcades...  so let's follow the sign  Tongue  arrow

Random pictures...

On that picture, the piggy bank looks almost like a full size one  Kiss  arrow

OK, let's pass once more time on each cabinet... My Q*Bert  Kiss  arrow

Out Run...

...and Asteroids, courtesy of the Belgian team  Cool :

I really need one too  Kiss

Let's continue to check all the games here...

The perfect item to display on that cab  Kiss  arrow

Nintendo's Playchoice-10, with the 2 monitors working.

Nintendo 'conversion kit' Mario Bros.

Let's continue the 'Nintendo invasion' with that lovely Donkey Kong :

And here's the surprise of the day... Space Pirate. First time I see & play that game. Absolutely marvelous ... One or two players, the game stays very fun & challenging. Technically, the vectors look so pure, the green glows on that screen... wow! My favorite one today, thanks Belike for bringing that one today  Kiss  arrow

Hope you'll definitively fix the sound issues on it.

Gravitar  arrow

Hey, why the control panel is suspended like that?  arrow

Ops! it's normal... it's an Asterock. Very specific control panel model, but after few games, it becomes comfortable.  Cool

The original Pac man is ...PUCK MAN!  arrow

...and here's the boot  Wink  arrow

...and his wife, official of course  Tongue  arrow

Original 'black T-molded' Galaxian :

Centipede :

I don't remember having seen this generic cabinet plugged during the day?

Joust!  arrow

Berzerk  arrow

I played many games on that one and I can tell you there's no gameplay / display difference with mine (advance mame *powered*), except of course the magic of the real hardware running behind.

PP2, still very fun to play... but still so hard imo...

Crazy Kong! It's the version I used to play back in the days... I still have the sound of 'jumpan' when he jumps in my head : "wwweeehhaa!"  arrow

Ice Cold Beer, surprisely very fun & addictive! An excellent party game  Smiley

Missile Command, not running at that moment, but fortunately working later  Cool  arrow

The perfectly working Star Wars cockpit... features the original game and the sequel "Empire strikes back", only one switch to push for changing the game  Kiss  arrow

Taito cocktail playing 60in1?  arrow

Nintendo “Red Tent” multi-game (Hyperspin)  arrow

...sadly not configured for laser disc games (Yes, I'm responsible for the front end bugging, after trying to launch Space Ace... shame on me  Roll Eyes)

Atari's Space Duel...

...unfortunately almost 'dead on arrival' (monitor problem)  Undecided

Magical Spot II cocktail :

And the monstrous Star Wars Trilogy *arcade*  arrow

Very nice pinballs  Kiss  arrow

too bad the Black Knight wasn't ready for the exhibition... and also ... no Tron Legacy pinball?  Roll Eyes Cool

Less and less natural light... let's give the marquees their attractive power!

...and the GO for dinner!  Tongue

"Dr Pepperize" the world  Grin  arrow

After the dinner break, back to the games  Cool

Next time, I'll put my name in the top of that list... but for today, only the 4rd place  Tongue  arrow

Two generations of gamer... Etienne & son ... Wonder Boy  Kiss  arrow

I'm a little bit tired (the road, the excitement, the games, ...) ... and I thing I'm starting to hallucinate  roll eyes I see Q*Bert cabinet everywhere ... even naked  Huh?  Grin  arrow

This is 'how it looks' from the outside in the street! ...and no, this is not a picture from the 80's  Wink  arrow

L8ter... hey, what happens here? Kill screen coming next?  Wink  arrow

Same picture with flash :

High score in progress ... Aart playing!  Shocked  arrow

While this time, at the barcade...

And like most of bars, you can find a money game ON the bar  Cool  arrow

It's the evening now... the game room enters in his last mutation phase... the 'no light' mode  Kiss Kiss Kiss  arrow

It's time for me to go back. With the help of Chrischris & Kroustibat ( Kiss ), we move the Q*Bert outside. A last picture before loading it...

15 minutes later... back at the hotel.

My initial idea was to bring that Q*bert here for a KILLING picture but ... well ... I'm alone, and too tired anyway...  Undecided

Dawn, I should know Ully was somewhere in the hotel... he is THE guy for such things  Roll Eyes Tongue

4rd of September : The day after...

After a good (but too short) night, it's time to leave the place...

The weather was perfect the D day, this morning it's a real nightmare...

Rain almost all the way back! But here I am...

Q*Bert back in its original location...

Holy Jesus... it really happened?

Hell Yeah!!!  Kiss Kiss Kiss

And now better than words, better than picture, here's the video #1 : "Eurocade / daylight #1"  arrow

[click on the picture to watch the video... be sure to watch it in HD 720]

Here's the video #2 : "Eurocade / 'low light' condition #1"  arrow

[click on the picture to watch the video... be sure to watch it in HD 720]

 -Enjoy-  Smiley

Both  Grin
André is tall & that *european* Q*Bert cabinet is smaller than the US one.
In addition, I would say my camera increases the perspective...  Tongue

Well, I'm not a tiny fellow, but there were some guys around that I had to look WAY up too !!! I'm 1.86 meters tall. But indeed, the angle of the picture increases the effect.
GREAT pictures so far Bruno THANKS !!! (esp. for not missing the "hallway" area, great pics of my Atari machines (and the rest too of course).
I see some pics with my dad and my son at the Pole Position II, very nice !

Something we forgot Bruno, we should have taken a picture of your Q*bert and the generous gift I had the pleasure to receive next to each other to see the differences !!!!
