A Wild excursion to the West
« on: April 23, 2011, 10:22:24 PM »

Today was my name's day and we were planning an excursion for this weekend, we really wanted to move out from the city.
We took  a day off from work yesterday with my Gf. and escaped as soon as we can in that nice sunny morning.
I had to choose from these (my corrado is dead), finally we took the combi ;D

After  a few hundred meters I realized, that maybe we could find some nice furnitures or an arcade machine, so it was time to change for a van

The road was surprisingly empty, I expected much more traffic before Easter

Hmmmm., Burger King ahead, but some more delicious waiting for me, so this time we missed it

Still 197 to go

That giant Phoenix on the top of the hill was made from bronze, the hungarian name of it is Turul.

We passed some nice fields with rape (they make vegetable oil from these))

Finally we reached the abandoned former hungarian-austrian border, this is the place where that famous iron curtain used to be

After another half an hour, we arrived to vienna, our hotel was in the Prater Amusement park

We had a beautiful view from our room ;D

Let's go to our favourite restaurant and taste Ully's favourite meal with some well deserved beer ;D ;D ;D

It was time to look around for the well known arcades and some other attractions in the park

As we liked that restaurant very much in the evening, we returned there for a light breakfast ;D

We did a huge walk then, also did some shopping and started home around 2.
The way back to Budapest was very smooth and fast, we arrived home around 5 today.

This roadtrip report is officially..............................................

Not Over, because I forgot something. ;D

On Friday afternoon, we visited a guy Marcus, who had something for me. ;)
We arranged a meeting at his place at 2 on friday, he asked me to call him from the front of the house when we arrive

He was on a 15 minute delay, so my Gf. decided to take a rest

And finally, here is the mystery machine ;D ;D ;D

Marcus was  a really nice and charming guy, he explained all settings, calibrations, etc, from this game

Time to load the van, fortunately this building had a huge elevator

We found a nice mattress with Marcus in his garden, let's lay the baby to her bed ;D

Seatbelt fastened, ready to go

That's it, I always wanted  a nice EM rifle game to my collection, I played these games a lot as a kid in the early 80's, they bring back great memories to me.
Bonanza is a really rare game, especially in Europe and this machine is in awesome condition, everything works fine, the playfield is like new without any scratch and the original Muntz 4 track player is still in there and also in great working condition.
I thas the original locks with the original keys from Chicago.
More pics and the video coming soon......... ;D

wonderful catch, bela, i hope one day i'll be able to play that game at your place. still need to add some em games to my collection, but a bigger (final) gameroom is my top priority. somehow i knew that you were going to the bonanza, but i thought you had dropped out of the bidding war over it. but if you want something really bad, you need to go for it, no matter the cost 8)

anyway, what i've realized is this

you really like healthy food and drinks ;D :P
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

About the bid war, you are absolutely right, I wanted this beauty really bad and if you check this, maybe you won't find it so expensive. ;)

Very, very nice piece to add to your collection and totally fun roadtrip report.
EM games always look really cool imho + they have a special place in my heart because the very first game I remember playing in a "luna park" was Sega's Killer Shark (1972), my grand father had to lift me so I could reach the gun to protect the belgian beaches from the sharks. Sweet memories from holidays at the seashores.
