Very cool!  It unfortunately appears to be missing the parts that actually allow the players to interact with it  :-[

Nope, the manual I have is all in Japanese for the Namco Rally-X cocktail, just like the one in your picture (envious by the way  ).

Are there any model/part numbers on any of the chassis PCB?  Out of curiosity, what brand is the tube?

The manual lists two possible monitors:

- M-BB14 (Namco part number: 84021000)
- CM-D14R (Namco part number: 84041000)

It doesn't look much like the Toei to me, I'm not sure what the other model's brand is - Mitsubishi? Matsushita?

Hope that helps!

That's really cool, I imagine the marquee is the same design as the Japanese marquee since it's so narrow; the blue line motif matches Namco's cocktail CPOs of the time.

Below is the marquee if you don't already have that image (looks like the aspect ratio needs to be tweaked a little).  I have a tiny color photo of a Sky Skipper upright from a Japanese trade magazine but will have to scrounge around on some hard drives to find it, but would be at least some sort of reference for the bezel/CP colors.

IIRC, the guys in the US who did the Parker Bros. conversion had access to a cocktail and hated the game so much they returned it to the distributor ASAP!

EDIT: found the interview - note the views of the programmer don't necessarily reflect mine ;)  Looks like I misremembered the returning to distributor part!

"Steve Kranish: I can’t help you with any of these – except Sky Skipper. That was a truly insipid arcade game; in fact it was so bad that I was the only one in the office who was willing to play it (I am not a gamer, remember?) so I became the local expert and could answer questions for whoever got stuck writing the port. The Marketing Bozos had agreed to sell it in hopes that doing so would provide access to future games, which I don’t think ever happened.

The Sky Skipper that we had in the office was a table model, rather than an upright arcade game. The monitor was under a glass top. I think the idea was that one had to be drinking to be willing to pay money to play such a stupid game, and the table top provided someplace to put your drink while you played. This does not explain my willingness to play it; I do not drink."
