I went to Japan as part of my honeymoon in 2004. Beautiful country and one of the best places in the world I have ever visited. Total culture shock!

Yeah, right

especially when you're a videogame fan in places like Sega Club's Amusement centers, Akihabara taito's videogame building and shibuya's historical Namco Inty (now closed! sigh!)

Or go at the mighty Sega white building in Ohta to work

It's a shock, yes definetely.

Damnly right, even if their kits are so beautiful as expensive

>In addition, the craziest Galaxian3/Starblade/Xevious fans are Japan based, and it's extremely difficult to get in touch with them, because of the language difference  :'(

Damnly right, japanese market is the best if you look for 100 % quality as rare limited items,

on the other hand Japan shops as Japanese kit makers don't sell outside Japan becuase they don't feel confortable for international trade (the japanese chamber of commerce is very strickly on lost packages with japanese traders - they have to refund the buyer in any case)

It is not just a matter of language.. even way of trading

>Hopefully, I'm very happy to have few Japanese members on this board, very helpful and very kind  :)

We reflect the sprit of the forum we join

If you' re a Videogame fan you should consider seriously to go in Japan

otherwise it will remain only a dream in your whole life..

Thanks bruno :-*

(Ehm.. don't think out there we are in love anyway, we are just friends!)

>Anyway, please make a TON of pictures for us please...

No problem for the photos of the fair, soon as back I 'll send them to you so you can post them (even if I think right here many don't mind at all of anime)

>everything about Galaxian/Starblade/Xevious of course

I think it is more like to find something in Retrogames stores (few at today) in Tokyo districts like Akihabara or Shinjuku

Anyway they are all from Namco, so the place to go should be Shinagawa where there is the new Bandai namco headquarter (with the puckman arcade cab that I played when I went there last year)

>You're so lucky to be able to go there...I'm jealous   ...why Japan is so faaaaaaaarrr

Then, Why don't you come this summer or this september for the Tokyo Game Show?

>I'm up if you can buy one for me

Ps= I think presumibly (as long as my experience in Japan) it is the kind of item EXTREMELY rare and EXTREMELY EXpensive

Think well about it before say yes because for them it is not a toy but art, so they want to get paid as artists that sell you a 1 on a kind portrait.. (500/1000 or down there)

I remember in October in Mandarake some out of print berserk's art of war figures at stellar prices (around 7,000 euro for the 1st Zord figure)

Japan it is not a cheap market at all

Yes,

Basically these models (look at the other links and be amazed! radiant silver gun and Silpheed!! enough said!) were presented during the wonder festival in august '08

WonderFestival is an underdog fair just before the Cx3 fair hosted by the Tokyo Big sight in August

(the same place where the Tokyo Anime Fair take is presented to the public in march)

The main difference is that that the wonderfestival is made most of all by garage kits and amateur kits

The Cx3 is organized by the big kit makers (bandai, takara, tamiya, etc..)

About the specific space ship you'd like to have there is only written on the link reported that it is sold in 3 pieces:

1) the space ship (uchu sha "intech" (Cover (Koba-)),

2) intech Compact (kompachi)

and

3) peeping star attachment (wind plinth)

Nothing it is written about the maker, the seller, the cost and/or versions available (usually there is a normal and a black variant minimum)

Hope this'll help you

Look for other infos if you are looking to grab one of this models

Maybe if I've got time when I'm there next month I can see to get one (even if looking at the high grade of perfection I think it is not going to be a cheap model)

Dragon's Lair / Space Ace / Re: 1991 Space Ace Cabinet Art
« on: February 09, 2009, 10:52:15 PM »
Basically the game is the same (if compared at space ace/ hard level)

What is introduced in the 91 version are the diagonal moves in some scenes instead of normal moves (up, down, right, left)

Mav

A variant version to have for space Ace fans

It can be played even if a DL II board but the roms set must be changed (or burned)

An OT question:

Which are the differences between Space Ace 1983 edition and the 1991 edition?
Some level added, or other things?
Unfortunatly I never seen and played  :-\

10X, Flip971.

I think basically all the problem turns around 3 factors:

1) Money

2) Space

3) Time

Most of the people would love to have only 100% original boards and machines, who won't?

But this, as bruno underlined, means to spend lot, lot and LOT of money in expeditions, import, customs, unload containers, purchases of all original materials, looking for a garage and then call a shipping company who bring games at home (right here from the 2nd floor on up)

ORIGINAL ARCADE GAMES From US to Europe It is a VERY expensive passion like collecting Rolex watches I may say (since I collect even them)

This because original games still are only there

I remember the first times when I started in 2000 and I found myself seller asking me 1000/2000/3000 euros for my beloved game and / or the shippier taking 600 euros for the shipping (from US) or 300 euros for customs,

Looking back today I can say that only a strong passion and hardwork effort (I go in Japan for Work and jason this week had to go to South Africe) can take up to the HUGE sum of money that need to be spent to have the best games of our era at home and as long as I know the european community only Jason Finn who collected and imported like me can understand deeply the situation I faced and upholded until today,

Yes, Someone may say but today you've got all Original Games aren't you happy guys?

I say yes, but If I think to all the effort I did since today to someone who want to start today I would tell him to think twice

as I said to kevin (petieken that was looking for an original sonic board from Japan) I told him (imaging his wallet) how much it would cost at the end the hole operation couseling to him a very inexpesive emulation

Right or Wrong emulation allow to normal arcade fans the chance the feeling to play the game the loved when they were children at 0 cost or for some hard case cheaply

Time: In some cases there are also really creative fans who have more time than money and sometime we see them on internet trying to replicate some Games with their replicas (Dl, pac man or other)

I mean everybody do what it can,

Of course they even know orginal motherboards and cab are a different thing, but If I remember what I paid for them,

I have an headache at which effort I've been up to pay all the expenses to have the game at home..

My experience

I presume you want something like this  ::) ;) as showed in this video::) 8)

In order to hack analog controls (wheels + pedals), you'll need an A-PAC (see on Ultimarc website).
If you're using an A-Pac, then you'll need to run Windows (because of the A-Pac drivers)  ;)
Of course, you'll need a computer... with mame on it (Mame32 for example, or mame + a front-end)  8)

Hi bruno, how do you manage the force feedback control?

Mav

I'd like to remove from get a 2nd sit down dlx cab and place inside a Pc or a Ps3 to play grid (awesome) or need for speed..

I've got some problems in reply pm's with my web broser so I copy right here the answer:

Kevin wrote:

>Maybe you're right, I better try running the game in MAME. Altough is it possible to find the trackball control panel for Aero City cab? The trackballs and buttons don't necessary have to be included, for MAME I can put in USB trackballs. I found an Aero City not far from my house, but it has joysticks.

Thank you for your warning about the high price.

Greetings,

Hi kevin,

no problem my duty since we're all collectors and we all have the same problems

>Altough is it possible to find the trackball control panel for Aero City cab?

to be true I never checked, quite for sure there will be

Next 16 march I'll check soon as I'm there, then I'll let you know when I'm back

Hi kevin,

read the pm

I don't know if it arrived to you so I reply here the answer:

petieken wrote:
>Can you maybe find the pcb toghether with the trackball control panel?

$250 for the mb + the control panel?

Sincerly as arcade collector I think today it is not even enough to buy then sole mb in "A condition" standard

I think kevin you should reflect (by yourself) on how much you should be aware of what it will cost to you the whole operation (buy from shop in Japan, shipping from japan to belgium, pay the 20% for custom taxes included)

Passion is a good thing, economy most of the times, as we know, it is different

Consider well the operation..
