Arcade Lifestyle / Shortest road trip evar!!
« on: January 10, 2010, 12:56:53 AM »
let me start with saying sorry for horrible pictures (from my iPhone).

But today I went on what must have been the shortest road trip!

it went like this, slept in late. Got a message from the seller on facebook that the game was on it's way. Got dressed, had coffee for breakfast, surfed the web, read some, shuffled the games close to the door around a bit, so that they where in the correct order (like a tower of Hanoi thing). then just waited around the apartment.

Then the phone rang to let me know that they where here. Took the elevator down and helped them unload my Atari 1988 Tetris and some marquees, some t-shirts (Swedish National Arcade collectors association, ARF - http://arf.arkadtorget.se/), key holders for my puckman game and huge Namco/Starblade controller thingy and a remake CPO (edit: Not Namco/Starblade).

In return I handed over my Afterburner (upright, http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=6821) with a bad monitor (everything else working, and gem to coin up to listen to the noise and see the Lock-On and red head lights flash - but since the monitor was dead, it's better of with someone who can love it, more importantly fix it).

And that was that. I just stayed at home and got a working game (and goodies) in exchange for a game with a dead monitor. Today have been a great day.

(seller of Tetris was not the same guy that bought afterburner, he just traveled by my tetris with an empty car and I saw a great opportunity).

The game:

The Marquees:

Total distance: 0 Km, just up and down 5 floors with the elevator.  ;D

Arcade Lifestyle / Arcade Berlin

I'm going to Berlin next week, are there any good arcades there?

or is it like the rest of the world, so that I should be happy if I find just a game somewhere?

Arcade Lifestyle / Latest goodies

Do you have a thread where you could post pictures of your lastest and greatest findings that does not deserve a thread of it's own?

Like the package I picked up at the local post office today:

3 used marquees, none of them mint and I bought the Galaga one since I got the PCB a while back, the other 2 where just added bonus but as I opened the package I fell instantly in love with the Columns one, it's some kind of light reflecting tape (badly) glued to a piece of plastic. it's just lovely.

Please feel free to add more pictures to the thread of your latest great findings....

Arcade Lifestyle / Amidar
« on: October 19, 2009, 10:13:21 PM »
Yo dudes!

I've found a dedicated Amidar, AND I CAN'T BELIVE MY EYES, THIS IS SOMETHING I WANT, AND I WANT IT BAD!!!! (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=6883) that is not in perfect shape (bad sound etc), It's 500 km away and I'm looking into what a car rental would be for a station wagon, asked price (first out in some kind of bid high, auction thingy) is (blush) €50 - and that (and double and tripple and even more I could pay for a dedicated Amidar).

there are a few other guys intested (that live more close by).

Anyone? what is a good price for and Amidar cab (and, Boy- do I want one, they where all gerneric once when I was small), and how much is to much for 500 km of road trip (and back?)

Arcade Lifestyle / Higscore database - Puckman/PacMan week!
« on: October 13, 2009, 11:16:02 PM »
Hi all,

Maybe I should introduce myself? I'm 38 - divorced and live with 7-8 arcade games and (my first) pinball machine (Mr & Mrs PacMan - 1982) in a 3 room apartment in Sweden (90 sqm). It's filled up and I've got (console/arcade-) junk everywhere.

Yesterday, to make myself feel better I fired up my puckman cocktail (namco 1979) to play a few rounds of Puckman, My Highscore is around 50k, and top high score (some mame dude) at Arkadtorget (http://www.arkadtorget.se - the main Swedish site for arcade games) is around 60K. So I decided that this week is puckman week, and this sunday at 2100 (Emt +1) I'll better have 100K on my puckman game. And once I've got 100K I could start to aim for 1.000K! (OMG! One million!)

So my question is, do you guys here have any "scoreboard", HighScore database? or something like that online?  Where you "battle" each other? Would you be interessted to take part in a HSDB (Highscore database) if we where to set something up and running in Sweden?

But mostly and shortly, are there anyone here that would like to fight with me for a Puckman/PacMan highscore untill sunday (18th oct) 2100.  Highest score here or at Arkadtorget (http://www.arkadtorget.se) wins a nice gift (so far I have no idea what this will be - but I'll find something Puckman/Pacman) and send to the winner. Don't own a Puckman/Pacman? play it in mame but everyone, please tell with your score how you played the game, thanks.

are you game? Please post your scores in this thread and I'll summon up with what the Swedish fans can perform...

And some easy rules, we don't check your score, if you cheat you are a looser.

Questions and scores? please post in this thread.

btw.. Today I got my Bombjack PCB with a jamma adapter from Japan and that might very well be the next game up for a HighScore competion if you ask me - it was so much more fun than expected to get this game.
