'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / Selling most of my collection
« on: June 19, 2017, 01:39:46 PM »
Hi guys, time to sell most of my arcade cabinets!
Need space for my printing business.

I don't plan to sell my favorite cabinets (Robotron, Defender) right away, starting with the ones I don't think I'll regret selling.
But feel free to make an offer for one (or all).
Most of the cabinets are projects, some working, some need more work, which I often already started on.

Additional photo's an request, no problem of course.
I already have a lot on my Flickr page. Be sure to check that out if you are interested. Also make sure to look in the Albums section.

Hi guys,

I bought a converted Burgertime cabinet from Coinopwarehouse and now I need parts to convert it back to Burgertime.

I am looking for:
- marquee
- bezel
- control panel overlay
- working pcb board
- stencils or vinyl art set
- button set (the pepper and orange ones)

Already found some of these items online in the US, all in different shops.
But I would prefer to not have to buy it from overseas of course.

Thanks for looking!

- Barry

Technical Area / Robotron error!
« on: September 07, 2015, 09:34:49 AM »
Guys, I am having a problem with my Robotron :(
Fired it up and now I get slow vertical blocky lines during boot and a short sound effect.
After that, nothing. Just black.
It actually started a couple days before with "Ram error 31" and sometimes other random numbers.

Had something like this before, back then I just reseated all the connectors and the error went away.
But this looks a little more serious.

Haven't really tried to find the cause, if it's not a connector thing I hope it the ram.
I still have the older 4146 ram chips. Time to upgrade to 4116's.
Does anyway here have a load of them? No time to order from the US considering I want to bring this to Eurocade next saterday!

As a backup, I can always bring my DK Jr.

EDIT. Found this http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/spies.cgi?action=url&type=info&page=Williams-hardware.txt online.
Will try tonight!

EDIT2. My screen kinda looks like a "rug pattern" screen...
The text below is what I found on the link above.

By far the most common failure of these machines is the DRAM (type 1
failure).  This usually will produce a very organized "rug pattern" on
the screen and the game will not "boot".  Sometimes you get really weird
video or else none at all.  The solution is simple, get new DRAMs!
These are type 4116 (450 ns access) 16K x 1 Dynamic RAMs

Hi,

Don't see these pop-up often, but do any of you have one for sale maybe?
Second option, build a replica. Since my friend (not yet on DLF) won't mind having a replica.

Cheers,
Barry

Hi guys,

Mike from www.mikesarcade.com started a Kickstarter project to fund the manufacture of replacement Orange and Blue pushbuttons for Donkey Kong and Mario Bros upright arcade machines.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1423841610/donkey-kong-orange-and-blue-pushbuttons?fb_action_ids=10205634935610650&fb_action_types=og.shares

I know you all want some nice shiny perfect Nintendo buttons for your cabinets! :)
Now is the time. I backed the project for new buttons for my DK, DK Jr and Mario Bros.

Technical Area / Asteroids and Centipede restoration
« on: November 13, 2014, 09:03:52 AM »
Hi,

Recently I got my first two Atari machines, an Asteroids and a Centipede! :)
And now I am busy restoring them.

Asteroids to do list:
- Install leg levers
- Install proper leaf switches instead of microswitches
- Install light fixture and make wooden board to support it.
- Repair busted and missing corners
- Repaint front panel
- Repaint coin door and marquee brackets (black)
- Find coin door bezels and $0.25 button parts.
- Fix hum in speaker
- Replace t-molding
- Maybe replace caps on PSU and audio board.

Centipede to do list:
- Rebuild trackball
- Repair wood damage, replace front panel, bottom of cabinet and bottom half of both sidepanels with new wood.
- Install leg levers
- Remove old side art and replace it with new side art
- Test pcb and monitor since game was not working (red led did glow on pcb while power on, so PSU should be good).
- Install light fixture
- Repaint coin door and marquee brackets and speaker grill (black)
- Replace t-molding
- Maybe replace caps on PSU and audio board.
- Install new CPO and Atari cone buttons

Concerning the Asteroids, amongt other things, the corners of the side panel on the bottom front are totally busted (The Centipede is a bit worse, I know  ;))
I am using bondo to fix it up, but what is the original corner radius of both cabs?

When I google for pics, Centipede has a 90 degrees square corner most of the time, Asteroids is a little rounded most of the time.
Can anybody confirm please?

Technical Area / Mario Bros widebody - Sanyo EZ20 problem
« on: March 10, 2014, 10:07:06 AM »
Hi guys!

Last weekend I finally started working on my Mario Bros widebody from Thomas' first container :)
The problem, the Sanyo EZ20 monitor doesn't come on. When I power the cab on, marquee light works, coin door lights work, I hear the psu humming like it should.
But the monitor doesn't power on, not even the slightest hum or buzz. No glow from the neck, no sparks or arcing around the flyback.

No sound from the Mario Bros board too. But since the monitor isn't doing anything, the sound board on the monitor probably does not get power to work.

I tried the another Sanyo monitor from my DK cabinet, game does work! Though I can't hear any sound, could be a fault on the Mario Bros board or the audio board on the DK monitor.
But at least, the psu, cabinet wiring and game board seems to be pretty OK.
so the problem must be in the Mario monitor.

As you can see on the photo, the flyback had some goo leaked. Could that be the problem? Both fuses on the chassis checked out fine btw.
I know they sell replacement flybacks for the Sanyo EZ20, but before ordering from the US I would like to hear your expert opinion :)

Thank you for reading!

-Barry

EDIT: I just noticed I already unplugged the video cable going to the "invert/ non-invert board" prior to taking the photo's.
I did test it when the input was hooked up correctly guys :)

Anyone interested in my Over / Under coin door?
I have no use for it anymore.
It has to go, altough the cat doesn't like the thing gone.

It's for free. Pickup prefered, else you pay postage.

The pics are BEFORE professional power coating (so not done by me).
Now it looks a lot better. Bucket, coin mechs and wiring are currently not assembled (but are included).
Can take a new pic tonight if needed.
Pickup possible in Goes, the Netherlands.

Thanks!
Barry

Technical Area / first Pinball! Need cleaning and restore tips
« on: November 09, 2011, 09:04:58 AM »
Hi,
I just bought my first pinball machine, a 1980 Williams Firepower :)
Great fun to play and for it's age it looks and plays OK. But I want to clean it up and make it shine.
I know I have to buy new balls and rubbers, but first I want to do a big cleanup.

Any tips on removing (and preventing new) rust on the legs, coin door and other big metal parts?
The small metal parts on switches and light sockets are clean, no rust. They need no work.

« on: July 25, 2009, 11:30:01 PM »
For my scratch build DK cabinet I am in desperate search of a Nintendo coin door. None on Ebay at the moment, and when there is one they won't ship to the Netherlands most of the time.

Thanks for looking!
