In celebration of getting the museum cabs up and running again,  Ianski, t-m and nes4life will be running 'The Arcade Experience', a public arcade gaming event, on 2nd September 2017 at The Centre for Computing History in Cambridge (UK). We're planning on getting over 20 arcade machines into the museum and creating a classic arcade experience for an evening. There'll be all the usual museum exhibits and computers (mainly running arcade conversions), a licensed bar, blaring 80s music, classic cabs, a high-score competition and the best food only a burger van can provide!

Those attending from the forum will get entry into the museum all day Saturday for just the cost of attending in the evening (i'll get a code and a link up soon). We'll be sure to get a cab list up but if you know Ianski's collection then you're half way there!

Get involved guys!

FOUND!
My 30th birthday is just around the corner (30th Sept) and so I'm looking to get Konami The Simpsons (2 player) and Asterix PCBs as a present to myself.

Neither have to be working perfectly (as I like attempting to fix minor faults over time) but must at least run and play.

Thanks all!

Hey guys,
Apologies if you've seen this on another forum but I'm pretty excited as my app update was accepted by the AppStore.

In my spare time (other then retrogaming & collecting!) I also make iOS apps
I'm shamelessly plugging my new app:

Please download & review it. I'd love some feedback!

Hey all,

It didn't take me too long to realise that I'm too much of a beginner to care for my Hangly-Man PCB properly.
Really I need a JAMMA Kit with big pictures and short words.

I'm not sure what a Hangly-Man PCB goes for - I know KLOV.com lists it as very rare but I'm not looking for silly eBay prices.  :pac:   :ghost: :ghost: :ghost: :ghost:

Please PM me with any offers - if you'd like to trade instead then I'm looking for a complete JAMMA kit ( harness, PCB, controls, instructions - perhaps a 60-in-1 type thing.)

I'm a complete novice so am not sure how to tinker with it. Currently, the PCB fires up and runs but I don't hear sound (I've tried hooking up the speaker in a number of ways and have decided to buy a new speaker), Pacman continues to go right, and I can only make him go left. P1 and P2 buttons are working, as is the service pin, and coin 1 pin. Someone has soldered the 'Table' pin to 'GND' so it's currently in table mode - I'm sure this can be de-soldered. Like I said, I'm sure all the above defects are just due to bad wiring by the previous owner.

Looking forward to any offers  :D - This is NOT going on eBay unless I get 0 offers. I'll add a photo when I next get near a PC - if you have any questions then please just ask.

Arcade Lifestyle / Beginning with a simple renovation
« on: May 31, 2012, 09:08:44 AM »
Hey all,
This is my 1st post on this forum so a big hello!

I've just bought a 'Fitter' (aka Round-Up) by Taito arcade cab - it was only £15 and just around the corner from my house. I'll attach a photo when i get next get near  a PC. It didn't turn on and the seller said they didn't know if it worked (yeah right!). Anyway, I got it home to my garage, opened it up, connected the single loose wire from the internal switch to some internal voltage stepper, plugged it in and got it working! But here's the interesting part, it's a plain pub-style 5ft cab, with a wood effect laminate surface, no side art, and a 'Fitter' marquee, running a Pac-Man PCB. Don't get me wrong I like Pac-Man, but i have a feeling a working 'Fitter' PCB would probably have been more rare.

So I thought I'd join this forum to share my arcade story, and to get some tips on restoring or doing something interesting with this cab. I need to get some micro switches for two buttons, and I might change the joystick if anyone's got a good source for a few arcade parts. The screen is fine, although with a little burn-in, but the coin mech isn't accepting any coins. There's a sticker next to it labelled 'new style 10p' so I mainly trying those - the microswitch does work though.

So the big question, what would you do with it? I'm leaning towards cleaning it up, fixing the controls, changing the action button to 'add credit', and replacing the marquee with a simple Pacman design. I know I could hunt down a 'fitter' PCB, but it'll probably cost a bit and I'm not too experienced with PCB replacement. I could gut it for a JAMMA or MAME brain but I've a feeling that's a cab's 'end-of-life' route... and Pacman still works!

Please let me know your thoughts.
