Yes it's better.
I've learned how to do the plasterboards from my brother-in-law who has been a carpenter for almost 35 years now. The boards are ALMOST (!!!!!!) 60cm. wide and you need to support them on each side and in the middle.
Be sure to place the laths exactly right.(Tip, use a small piece of plasterboard that has the full width to check)
In my gameroom I had the problem that sometimes the laths of the wood-construction of the walls was not exactly placed right (not a problem for the construction, but for the plasterboards it was).
Looking at Bruno's pictures: he put the laths vertically, but installed the plaster boards horizontally. That already gives a more support. Traditionally plasterboards are installed vertically here, but it really doesn't matter of course, you can go both ways.
