Hard Drivin' Restoration

I started working on it a week or two ago.
At first I thought I have only to repaint something and repair the left side as it is/was water damaged.

In the end I'm rebuilding it from the ground up. I've NEVER done any wood works, but I think it's going well.


What game is it?

Sigh.....you don't see HD cockpit restore projects for years....and now I sold mine they pop up here and on KLOV......

Oh well, good to see these get the love they deserve !!! It's such an awesome piece of hardware and a game that set was groundbreaking in its technology. Not everybody likes is because of its reality but IMHO that is the very reason it's such a good machine.

Will follow this closely ! May I suggest adding the name of the game to the thread name because well...there are more resto threads here :)

It's a GREAT machine and not a standard game. It's hardware it a lovly piece of engineering!!! The seat pivot, lever and it's idea are not found in any other game that didn't cost a fortune.

More or less it was under a shed for at least 10 years, VERY close to the sea.
The problem is the type of wood they used, I have a MK that is keeping together by the monitor frame. It was in the same shed and collapsed thanks to humidity!!!

It is in better shape now....
After that pic (2 days ago) I have removed all the item I have put on to do a test and started cleaning the part that need to be painted.
I hope that tomorrow I can put the control panel/monitor base on and start to paint it.
I can work max 1 hour a day on it, so the progress is SLOW.
I have made a measurement mistake caused by the old damaged side and my lack of experience, but I can work it out easly, but I have to do it before the paint job

In that pics EVERY single pieces of wood is new  ::)  :shock:
The only old part I will use are:
-the front of control panel (second pics here, upsidedown...)
-the monitor base
-the backdoor
-the part over the door
-marquee

the old wood was too damaged to be used again.

In other news I have sanded it down and applied the primer.
tomorrow more sanding and painting.

No way I am like Scr33n he is on another planet!!!
As for spare part I know that there are some NOS, the shifter cover is already NOS, I cannot install the original shifter knob, because of early repair.
The stick was modified and the replacement knob welded on it, a standard car know will fit, I used a "tuning" knob.

The only things I am after are:
-Seat, found a similar part online, will order next week.
-All the artwork, I have sent a PM to the guy on KLOV, but he never reply back :(

Hope to start putting some pieces together early next week.
