How best to attach CP decals?
« on: September 25, 2013, 04:34:04 PM »
Today i received my custom CP artwork for my V2 Control Panel - as you guys have restored and made things from scratch i thought it best to ask here.

Whats the best way to attach this to the surface? im using MDF which will be primed first.

Does your decal have a sticky back adhesive?   If yes, then make sure after you prime and paint, that it's good and clean.  If you have to use your own adhesive, then I'm not sure, as you have to be careful... some adhesives can destroy vinyl stickers etc.

I think it also depends on what material your CPO is printed on. You have to be far more careful if it's simply vinly. Put a lamp underneath your controlpanel so the light shines through the holes for stick and buttons and you know where they are and can align the CPO :)

ive already cut the holes in the CPO so i can mark the wood for drilling, its laminated self adhesive backed vinyl, someone had mentioned somewhere that a light spray of water onto the wood-peel the adhesive cover off, and the water gives you time to move it into place-then push the water out gently with a cloth??
