Commodore 1084S: Scart to D9-sub
« on: November 22, 2012, 08:36:37 PM »
Hi,

I got my hands on a Commodore 1084S monitor to connect to my supergun.

It's a version with only a sub-d9 input and my supergun has a Scart output.

I googled some kind of cable "scart to sub-d9", but without success.

Does anyone know where to find this cable? Or do I need to make it myself?

Does this help?

Pin-Outs (1084S DB9)

  Pin 1: Ground
  Pin 2: Ground
  Pin 3: Red
  Pin 4: Green
  Pin 5: Blue
  Pin 6: Unused
  Pin 7: Composite Sync
  Pin 8: Horizontal Sync
  Pin 9: Vertical Sync

From here: http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=849

I've never seen a D-Sub9 to Scart cable though, I only know of cables that connect the 1084 to a computer, and those almost never have Scart connectors as video output (mostly DIN or some kind of other Sub-D connector). I'm afraid you'll have to make the cable yourself...
No arcade cab(s) yet, but happy owner of 2 Colecovisions, 2 Amigas and a pc running Mame.

Yes, thats usually the Amiga and Atari ST video output.

More technics over here:

The 1084S is also available with Scard Output, that's why it is mostly used for surveillance cameras.

Don't know about a switch you are looking for, sorry.

otherwise you can use a cinch-adaptor to scart but that won't be the best picture?!?

I found a cable, it's a PHILIPS CM8833 MKII RGB MONITOR SCART ADAPTER CABLE

The CM8833 is the same monitor as the 1084 so in a few days I have my setup complete:

Supergun, 15khz RGB monitor, neo geo controller, power supply, volt display.

I'm really tempted buying a classic home computer now that I have this monitor, but it's better just to wait a little ;D I need to sleep sometimes

Got a link to that cable ?

Reason why I ask is that your Supergun will put out composite sync, and a sub-d 9 pin TTL RGB input is going to need separate H- and V-syncs.....impossible to do without any electronics....

Doesn't that monitor also have a DIN shaped analog RGB input ?

Let me know if this cable works as I have a couple of Phillips and Commodore Monitors to connect to multiple consoles - but was yet lacking monitor cables.

Ah, I see it already: that monitor has a switch to select between analogue and TTL RGB on that sub-d input. Be SURE that your monitor has that switch too or the cable will be useless.....
