Displaying hi-score in your game room?
« on: September 06, 2009, 09:23:23 PM »
I really want to 'score' on my games... and I want to keep all my scores... and display them all the time in my game room!

I may use a black board, but ... for some reasons, I cannot find one  :-\

OK, let's look for something more sexy  ::)

I'm in touch with http://www.spotled.be for a display, this one for example :

+ : SIZE!!! One meter long for this one
- : PRICE !!!  :ghost: :ghost: :ghost:

...but I also have an other solution... A touchscreen LCD monitor fixed on a wall... it would be awesome, and I would allow me to do more than displaying score... for example : Jukebox player, Internet surfing... etc  :P

Ok,  even if I don't have yet a touchscreen monitor (they are available on ebay germany), let's start to work on the power point that will display the scores.

Sneak Preview :

Now in full screen ...

 :spaceace:

Few suggestions maybe?

How about the actual high score table from the game overlaid on the flyer or some game art, with the game art slightly opaque (transparent).

I don't even have a whiteboard, I have a big piece of paper (~A0 size) on my wall where I scribble down my high scores...

The touchscreen is a cool idea, you can have almost infinite display options with such a thing. With the led thing your options are of course more limited. It's up to you if you want fancy stuff or not ;D I vote for the touchscreen!

why not an LCD TV,

i mean they are getting cheaper every day
there are lCD TV's with 37" (94 cm) diagonal for like € 550,- out there

do you really need the touchscreen function if its for display purposes ?

Great idea  :-* :-* and the jukebox player (full of 80's music) complete the work  :spaceace: :spaceace:

That is a fantastic idea !!! Looks great.

How much are those touchscreens ?

If you go for LEDs this would be nice to hang around your gameroom:

Well, a nice touchscreen is starting at  300€ (see here on ebay.de).

The price for this led display

... is 439€ without taxes  :?

In the first step, I'll only use a simple TFT monitor (the one I use for doing my powerpoint)... and like Etienne says, LCD TV are getting cheaper every day...

I'll finish the presentation first, put that monitor on location, and see how it looks in the game room  8)

Why not buy an old Photo Play for this ? Get's you the monitor (OK CRT, but that fits great in the "scene"), the touch-screen and a PC :D
