is anyone else having problems writing a longer posting???

I have just recently installed the latest internet explorer (v8) and since that time i'm having a lot of trouble writing a longer text. it's working fine as long as the "field of input" isn't completely filled up with text, but once that is the case and the text is supposed to scroll down automatically it doesn't. i can continue typing, but i don't see what i'm typing because the text won't scroll. i can sue the bar on the right hand side to scroll fown manually, but onnce i continue typing, the text scrolls up again to the beginning of my posting. this is absolutely annoying and there's no fun in writing longer texts anymore.

hope you understand what i'm talking about. is anyone experiencing the same problem? can it be fixed?

i have the same problem you discribe , dont know if its because of IE8, im using IE8 since it was released, and i never put attention to this issue, its annoying, i agree , but somehow i managed to post anyway 

would be nice to know if IE8 is the cause though

Of course IE8 is the cause. I've seen many other problems reported already.

Seriously guys, I can't believe you are still working with Internet Exploder when there are much better alternatives for FREE like Safari (the best browser at the moment IMHO, and not just because I'm a mac user   http://www.apple.com/safari/) or Firefox.

Well, not really 

I'm now a proud & happy iMac owner  ... and so I don't have any problem with Safari, and I don't have the problem with my Firexfox version 3.0.12.

This board is a standard SMF forum, and I cannot change anything 

I'll report that problem on the SMF support board, and try to see what happens when using the latest IE version...

No-no-no, Ully, as a Windoze user should report this bug to Microsoft !

It's clear the error is in IE8, not in the forum software

Totally true,

my guess is that the native mode of IE8 is not compatible with this forum in the posting / editting section.

i found a workaround for those of you that like to continue with IE8 and refuse other browsers  

first visit the forum, then click "tools" and then click "compatibility view"



Then to verify you can check the list of sites that belong to the compatibility view by clicking again "extra" and click "compatibility view settings"



The site should be here in this list, and the trouble is over.

Yep, that looks like Microsoft to me.
"We made a great new version of our application X, which is so much better than the previous version, and we've even badly copied in all the ideas from our competitors that we can't think up by ourselves. Of course our bad testing means that you as end-user will experience loads of troubles, BUT we built in a Magic Button => The back-to-years-ago button ! Yeah, press it and all works like it used to work.....

@ Level 42: I agree with the statement but at least we can switch to this modus and we don't need to instal other browsers.

so in the end there is no problem for us IE8 users.  

(wich is operating in IE7 modus for the sites that you select)

I need to say that i have less problems than i expected with IE8, but thats a different story.

the point was if anyone else had the stated problems in combination with IE8.

I experienced the same issue as Ully and tried a few things and the solution was in the end pretty simple.
