Roadtrip in austria
« on: March 02, 2017, 05:50:32 PM »
Hi guys,

first of all, like I mentioned in the other thread, sadly I deleted my pictures which I made with my smartphone :'( I try to recover them on the weekend at work.

The story:
In an local online market place, some guy posted a few parts from games. I contacted him and told him if he has cabs and games, im interested to show up.
He phoned me, told me he has a few things and I should come over and visit him ( --> look here: https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=7171.0 )

And today, I rented a transport vehicle and started my journey, which took me 1 hour each way ( like its in the neighbourhood when I compare that roadtrip to nuno´s roadtrips  ;D ).

As you already know, he has insane prices on some parts/things. He also had pcb´s over and over ( most of them are bootlegs ). And then there was 1 cabinet which took my interest. And yes, I didnt had much hope when he told me his price wishes for the other cabs, but he asked me what I would pay for it. I said some numbers, today he raised it a bit but it was still ok for me. And here it is:

It was locked and no keys there. I asked if we can open it and he tried to open it with a screwdriver but in gangsta style mode ( trying to wiggle the lock door out ). I told him to stop, its ok, just dont damage it. So it was a bit of gambling for me, I didnt know what was inside. We knew, it wasnt working.
At home I drilled the locks, but sadly, only the board, manuals and austrian Schilling coins where in, but no game modules ( and in my fantasy, I thought which game would be in )

110,- ATS = about € 8,-

But look, that game cab was really popular!

So, I also purchased most original game pcb´s, a lot of them from Konami ( since he was the main importeur in austria for Konami ), the games are in unknown condition.

He also put that 2 famicom boards on top of it, like 5 bundles of wire and that asteroids marquee, which I found under plenty of cash gambler marquee´s. Ah and that PCB holder plus that SNK 1 cartridge board with viewpoint ( which is a great game ).

So, downpoint of this trip is off course no games at my mega tech, but on the other side, I have a mega tech now ( which is also in the states something rare if im correct ).

Next step:

- testing board
- put them into my inventory list
- fix mega tech ( or buy games )
- play

Andreas

Sidenote: all my games are from europe  ;D

Awesome!
What are the pcb:s??  :o

MegaTech is a wierd game, dont really know if I like it or not, I purchased one last year, they are not common, atleast not here in Sweden.
Through the years I have seen mine and one other (gutted) cabinet for sale here in Sweden.

The only thing I have done with mine is buying more cartridges for it (I have 24 at the moment).
If you need any pictures of anything let me know, so far mine is still working!

May I ask how much you paid for the MegaTech? If they are worth a hefty amount of money I would consider to trade my game away  ;D

Well, I have to test the pcb´s and maybe identify them with help of my eprom burner.

I played the mega tech 2x now at an event and its nothing else than normal games. The only benefit is you can swap the games easily like SNK games. Much easier than Nintendo playchoice ( in my opinion ).

Thx for your offer, I have to buy a new CPO since mine is damaged.

And Ill PM you the price. I have seen prices from 2000 - 2500 for a working cab ( including games ).

Let me have a look:
Ok, here a bit over a year ago:

Anyway, I didnt buy it to resell it, its the conterpart of Nintendo´s playchoice ( which im interested too ) and im happy to call it my own now  ;D

Well, space and money stop me now  ;D

I have a normal sized house and next big step is to rebuild the attic. Means i´ll raise the walls a bit. Its planned to transfer it into my gameroom, which is ( - wc, bar, chimney ) about 70-75 qm2 of space  ;D
I already made some plans how I should place the cabs to get the most amount up there. Actually, im still scratching my head HOW I get them up there alone. I thought about an electric dolly or that "outdoor elevator" like roof tiler use them ( but price is from 2000,- up to 5000,- € = too much for me ). So my mainplan is to do it like the dutch.
I hope everything is done at the end of this year!

Ok, roadtrip to that seller continued.

This time, he cleaned up his storage. Last information was that he has about 60 bootlegs and 10 original pcb´s. I grabbed my purse, rent a big car to fill it up with monitors - well that was the plan.

When I arrived, he had over 100 bootlegs and 30 original games. Off course I didnt have enough money for all.
So I picked up the original games and he gave me a few of them for free and a hantarex too.

He has a lot of spare parts, just look at that gallery:
https://flic.kr/s/aHskW7G49g

By the way, he sold that puckman for 1000,-  . He still has that Nurburgring and there was another racing game. But well, I didnt put some attention doing a good picture, so its half cut. Its some old game without a monitor, the objects will be shown through a mirror or so. To be honest, I didnt care really much about it, cause its nothing of interest for me  .
CRT, he had about 4 or 6 13" Hantarex in the original box ( NOS ) and some new tubes too ( 19" ). A lot of high voltage transformer and some parts.
I saw a control panel for, im not sure, lethal enforcer? The 2 revolver are scratched, but complete and what i have seen, nothings broken.

Minutes before we left the storage, I saw an Universal cab. If I remember correct, it had blue sideart, the name of it were 2 words ( 2nd was race or something like that ) and you could move the joystick only left and right. And there were 1 or 2 buttons. Stupid me, I didnt do pictures since it was not a game of that seller.

Ok, only a few boards are left at my garage, the list so far:

65   Hyper Olympic / Track and Field   Konami   original
70   Crazy Kong   Falcon   original

Thx guys, list updated.

Well on the other side, it was NOT cheap to be honest. And its like gambling, I mean you have a fix price for each pcb and then there is the possibility to get games like Palamedes, Shangai2 and so on...  ;D
