My custom MAME stuff(lots of pics)
« on: April 02, 2009, 02:56:04 PM »
Hi peeps, I've been heavily into MAME over the years, making a custom cab and trackball controller, heres a few images (well heres whats left that I've found lol!!!)

My original MAME marquee (can you tell I love SEGA?)

http://www.lazarus.org.uk/~subzero/mamecustom.jpg  <--- the original JPEG for anyone that wants to use it.

The cabinet in construction phase:

A horrible photo of myself infront of the 'unfinished' cab:

My first bezel:

The plans for my trackball add-on:

Trackball parts:

The trackball casing was made of solid wood, myself and my dad cut it and built it (my dad has the tools-dads rool!)

The whole of it was covered in fablon before attaching the trackball parts:

The top was screwed onto place to make sure everything fitted together neatly:

Trackball was put into place:

The two buttons were added:

The optipac was wired up and the bottom was attached...final product:

Sadly both items are no more, the cabinet was dismantled and destroyed when I moved house, I sold the steering wheel and pc lightgun locally and sold the trackball on ebay...good memories though, and i still have the marquee....

Here is the cab where it used to sit - pride of place in the living room:

ooh ooh - i found a photo of me playing my favourite cab (this photo is at least 19 years old now!!!)

And just coz I love it:

And finally coz this topic deserves it:

 ;D

At least a picture of you  :)

Nice cab, but you should replace the X-Arcade by an home made control panel, and replace that (too)small computer monitor with a TV (ArcadeVGA / RGB into the SCART connector of course) at the right size  ::) :P

I really love the picture of you, playing After Burner...19 years old  :-*

I would kill to have old pictures of me playing the games I used to play... more than 25 years ago  :'(

Thanks for these pictures  :)

The more I look at these pics the more I wish the cab was still around, I was never happy with it, never got the coin door fitted (its still in my dads shed!!!) didnt like the pc monitor in there either, but for the time it did the job :)
