How do you turn on your games?
« on: April 14, 2016, 09:36:31 PM »
Ok guys, i'm about to embark on the "Superully finally builds his Elektro Arcade" adventure (more on that later), but before we get there i'd like to know how you guys turn on all your games. I know there are various switch variations, therefore it would be cool to see your setups.

So if you have any pics of your switch solution or any photos of other gamerooms you'd like to share i'd be more than happy to see those ...
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

I guess you already know our switch cabinet, but here's a picture of it. Each switch powers a single outlet.

Well, it's very big case and I'm sure you'd prefer a smaller one. I think André has a better solution for his gameroom :)

@luigi

good idea with the switches! but why not using the fuses directly?
I use one fuse for every wall socket.
Searching Zaccaria Stuff: Zaxxon CPO, JumpBug CPO or CPO Repro
next project: assemble Zaccaria Vanguard.

Good point. But we have one fuse is for two outlets. So if one machine dies during a party we can simply put the switch and it's turned off. If we would have just the fuses we would have to switch off both machines ;)

That is exactly what I do, I turn them on approx. once a month, use simply extension cables with outlets, it does not last longer than a minute, for 25 cabs. ;D

That's what I do too, nothing fancy: extension cables with a switch on it. I put them along the side of the cab so I can reach them easily.
(I try to buy them in black so all you can see in the dark is the red light of the switch)
Personal superstition: I also tend to turn on the step-down converter first, then turn on the cab itself a few seconds later.
I rarely turn all my cabs at the same time so I don't mind spending a little time turning them on.
I also move them often (when I need room to work on them or when I buy/sell new cabs) so I found out the extension cables is a very flexible solution for me.

really interesting, some of you guys have totally fancy gamerooms with thousands of euros invested and you're still using extension cords with switches. back to basics :)
